Welcome @Hugjunkie ????. Fun place to get support for the most part. Take everything said with a mind that the goal is to help one another. Are you just starting your journey? Had surgery yet?
  3. @@Gingi Just checking in on you to see how things are going. Are they better/worse/the same? Just reading this thread and thinking of your. Hugs.

    Motivation

@@lorri716 Your comment "It's about me." struck a cord and your attitude is fantastic. Your right! Your an amazing woman of 40 who can do anything she sets her mind to. We all are! I am a Texas Aggie (not too many jokes please... ) And this phrase was done by the students at our recent game. I just thought the image really applied to all of us in the WLS community. We are in control of our own destiny!

    Post-op and crazy puppy!

I had a puppy when I did my surgery in May (still have him but he is a little older now). A pillow on your stomach or in your lap at all times is a must. This will deter him/her from jumping on you.

How did you deal with hair loss?

Good luck! Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who doesnt see the loss. I am at almost 6 months and it is still coming out. I am hoping it stops soon. So far the topper is holding, but it is getting dry looking (another side affect I am told). Still worth it in my opinion.
  9. I know this has been discussed before, but most of it seems to be on assurance that our hair will grow back. I am more interested in what you did while it was coming out (besides panic as we all do ????). I already had thinning hair on top so as soon as I realized mine was starting to come out (@ 3 1/2 months) I went down to a local wig shop to discuss toppers. I was really surprised, the topper the stylist helped me pick a great one made of human hair. I then took it to my personal stylist and she matched it to my hair. So far it has been awesome and unless I tell someone they can't tell I am wearing it. I just hope my hair loss doesn't get to the point where the topper isn't enough. I am going to try to post a pic so you can see how my hair looks with the piece on. Feel free to comment. ???? Has anyone else elected to go with a wig, extensions, topper? If so, what did you do and how did it go? I generally get the impression that a lot of gals just elect to go with a shorter hair cut. I am curious how many chose this route?
  10. Anyone else tried this yet? It is actually pretty good and the sugars and carbs are pretty low.

    Tomorrow makes one week!

That is a fantastic attitude! Your right, we aren't where we where and even with the ups and downs it is a better place to be ????
  14. Bummer on the surgery but I am glad they noticed this now rather than later. Best of luck and hope it is nothing. ????

    Tomorrow makes one week!

Unfortunately There will be more stalls. Don't get discouraged. The good news is that stalls seem to be when your body adjusts to the new weight. It is true you can still lose inches while the scale stays the same. I only lost 5 pounds in October but people said I looked like I was dropping weight fast. I guess it is just sitting different. Keep up the great attitude you seem to have. Life is going to start to get fun! ????

    VIP Member Check In

Hi all. I decided to go ahead and make my "membership" official and join the VIP club. ???? So far BP has been fantastic to read and to participate in(the good and the bad). I thought it was time to fully commit! ????While my program has a monthly in person meeting, it never seems to fall on a day I can go so BP has become my default support group. I have been mostly quiet up to this point but I have been soaking up so much. I am now 5 months since VSG so things are settling down to be more routine. So many of my early questions were answered by reading the responses of the oh so patient veterans on other threads. I can't tell you how much it helped me! I didn't panic after I didn't lose much immediately post op. I didn't get upset when I hit the 3 week stall. (A little discouraged, but it helped to know it wasn't just me) I was prepared for when my hair started to like the floor better than my head. (Not happy, but hopeful since everyone says it will come back!) I learned about lots of new food options (Halo Top ice cream!) and recommendation on vitamins. And most importantly, I feel I am getting to know a group of individuals who on this "project" with me. Don't get me wrong, I have lots of support at home and from friends and family, but it isn't the same as talking to others who are in the same boat. At times I will admit to feeling a bit lonely in this journey. Just reading and sometimes responding on BP has helped feel more connected. So I thought it was time to fully commit to BP and work on starting to give back. ????????
  17. 5 months into the sleeve and I haven't really noticed any taste changes at all. However, Based on the fact that I detested a calcium chewable that my husband said tastes like skittles (he liked it), I suspect skittles may be a taste change. I haven't tried skittles yet (for obvious reasons. ha!) but I don't think that is a big loss. ????
  18. I know there is a feeling of "I can't wait until surgery and I start losing weight". However, I agree with the previous posts on being cautious about how much you compare yourself to others. You never know how it's going to go. Some people lose very little, others lose faster at first. Just remember this is a life change and in the big scheme of years, one month is a very small timeframe. Personally, I only lost 5 pounds in the first 3 weeks. However, at 5 months out I am down 75 or so. Everybody is different. ????

Nice that your recovery is going well. Just be prepared for that stall, it happens to many. Don't get discouraged. You are going to do great in the long run. ????????????

    Halloween ????

I was doing so good ignoring all the candy in all the stores. THEN my loving husband went and bought 3 big bags of it at SAM's. ???? I hate to say it but I caved this evening and had a piece.???? If I can't control it, my hubby is losing and the candy goes out of the house Monday. ???? Halloween isn't a fun holiday anymore. Sort of dreading the next rounds of holidays. ????

    Halloween ????

Happy to report that other than one small lapse with the snickers I have managed to stay away from the candy. Yea me! Just one more day to go and then it is out of the house! (such a different attitude from last year. haha) I have also improved my attitude on Halloween and am finally getting into a little bit of the spirit. Bring on those tricker-treaters!
  23. I wore mine until the internal stitch popped. Made a world of difference on how I felt at the end of the day!
