I too need to get back on track. I am 13 months post gastric bypass and in a slump, no weight loss, eating carbs and some sweets. I have lost 75 lbs and want to loose 50 more..... I NEED to get BACK to BASICS!! I just received the 5 Day Pouch Test. Anyone tried it? Does it work? Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hi, I am almost 8 weeks post-op Gastric Bypass. I initially had lots of energy after the recovery period and now I have no energy. I am tired all the time and sleep lots more. I am trying to get in all my Fluid, Protein requirements and Vitamin and RX's. I am also getting in a little walking. I have lost 36 lbs and feel I am doing great with my weight loss. But still I have no energy or motivation!! Can any one give me some advise to getting more energy and motivation?? Greatly appreciated!!

    Surgery Tomorrow!

Good luck tomorrow...... yes the new you is about to begin. I too am having my surgery on June 10th and am so excited about it all. So looking forward to not hurting from osteoarthritis and being able to wear nicer clothes and get out and enjoy my life with my husband, kids and grandkids. !! The time goes by fast doesn't it? Best of luck.......
  5. Hi, my name is Susan and I am having my band to gastric bypass on June 10th. I too am really nervous. I have been reading everything I can to get ready. Have my final surgeon visit on the 2nd. I am in Delaware....You?

    Very excited!

I too am very excited. I met with my surgeon also yesterday and they have set my date for Band to Gastric Bypass surgery for June 10th!! Also, it is my husbands birthday. My band was placed the day after Valentines Day 7 years ago. Lots of trouble and weight regain, plus more. I am an OR nurse and scared to death to have the surgery because of all the complications that "may" happen. But really want the surgery to get he weight off, feel better, get healthy and decrease all the arthritic pain. I need to get back to nursing....... The pain and stiffness has prevented me from working as a nurse. I have had all the preliminary work completed and found out that I have Barrette's Esophagus. So surprised but have been assured by my surgeon that the bypass is a great surgery to make this much better. Pray so...... Anyway, I am having the band removed and bypass all in one surgery. Any comments about one step or two step conversions.??s??? Thank

    The wait is killing me

I too am waiting to see my doctor. I live in Southern Delaware and was initially told by the insurance company that I had to go to a doctor in New Jersey. I went for my initial consultation, like them and have scheduled to have my Lap Band removed in June and bypass in July. Came home and needed to call insurance company back for a few question s and now they said (different lady) I could have my surgery in Salisbury, MD, 20 minutes from my home. So upset. Any way I have scheduled a consultation with them on May 18th. Can't wait!! I too find myself eating more than I have for a long time.Really trying not to do this. I am SOOOOO ready for the surgery and start my new healthy living. I am an OR nurse, retired, so I know what will be happening and have lots of anxiety. I think knowing the ins and outs of the surgery is worse anticipation. May 18th can not come soon enough. I am reading everything I can get my hands on. My favorite is a book I ordered called, "Out of Obesity and into the Promised Land" by Julia Holloman. She is 6 years post op Gastric Bypass and her book is excellent. Love it!! Would love to have a surgery buddy to chat with. If you would share your email, great.......
  8. I am going on May 18th to see Dr. Daniel McCullough in Salisbury, Maryland and Delmarva Bariatrics. I know it is a Center of Excellence and was wondering if you or anyone you know has had surgery here?
  9. Notinks, Just read your post and I have had my lap band for 7 years and was wondering if the length of time you have had your band increase the complication rate of the conversion to Gastric bypass?? I am wondering about weakened esophagus tissue where the band was...... Did your doctor mention anything about this pre-op for you? Did you have your lap band removed separately from your gastric bypass? If so, how long between the two surgeries? Thanks so much. Wish my surgery was behind me, but know all will be worth it!
  10. will be praying for you this Thursday.........

1st day on next phase-need to slow down

just starting the process to get my band converted to gastric bypass. Are you suppose to have Protein shakes post op too. Just asking......
  12. Yes, I feel the very same. I lost over 40 pounds with my lap band and within the last 7 years have gained it all back plus 60 more...... 300 Lbs now. I have made myself hybernate in my home and not go out. I may go to the grocery store once in a while but my hubby goes more than I these days. I can make a "good" list for him and he sticks to it. Also, not tempted to go my Chick Fla and get a vanilla shake..... I go out only when needed. Moved back to home town before Christmas and do not want everyone to see how big I have gotten. My husband has been kind but is not getting tired of me not going enywhere with him. Called my insurance company to start process of getting conversion to gastric bypass and found out they will not allow me to go back to my original band doctor, who I love and trust. I live in southern DE and have to go to New Jersey to have my conversion by a doctor I do not know. Have my consultation with him on Thusday this coming week. Did I say I am an OR nurse (retired) who wants to know her doctors reputations before she allows them to operated on her, especially something to serious as the lap band to gastric bypass?? So yes I am scared to death. I have been looking all over the internet to check this doctor out and so far only see good things about him. When are you having your procedure? Would love to have a buddy to chat with...... God bless and good luck, Susan

    Should I just self-pay?

I have Coventry of Delaware and was wondering if any one else has used this insurance to convert from band to RNY?? If so, what was your time line and what did you have to do preoperatively? Thanks

    Worried it wont work

Stacey, My name is Susan and I too am in the beginning of changing my Lap Band to a Roux N Y. My band has failed as many do. I have gained over 60 pounds since having my band. So much trouble with it that I had to have all the saline removed. Went last week to get saline put back in and it had a kink in it and leakage......so my doctor has suggest I convert to Roux N Y, So scared too that I will have some complications.
  15. Thanks so much for the support and encourraging words. I think I have decided to go on and have my conversion. Will be calling the insurance company tomorrow and checking what they say. Thanks too for mentioning God. I am a Christian and my husband a pastor. Also, I was an OR nurse for 34 years and did over 400 Roux's and 100 bands. But since retiring over 6 years ago I have gained over 100 lbs. I have been working with my husband in the church. I work a day or so a month with a plastic surgeon. So embarassed to be there too in my 3X scrubs, sweating and out of breath all the time. Really dispise what I have done to my body. Did you feel this way too? Hypertension, Pre-diabetes, depression, hopythyroidism, arthritis....on and on. Any web sites that helped you make your decision? Thanks so much. God bless.
