dhrguru got a reaction from CrankyMagpie in The view from 'down there' (a ladies room post)
So I debated posting about this.. but I was in such awe over this, and I think only my fellow female WLS peeps can appreciate this. (And i'm grown, married, blah, blah, blah...).
Hubby and I were having some special time. Off he went to "lady town" (Grey's Anatomy fans should get that). And I realized... I can *see him*. My stomach was not blocking my view of him. For the slightest second it seemed awkward cause, I've just never had that full view before. It was a serious, momentary, mind trip!
So...NSV qualified, or too risque?

dhrguru got a reaction from FluffyChix in Homemade spaghetti sauce
Does it have meat in it? If not, I eat meatballls in sauce and add some ricotta and mozzerella cheese.
Some people love making noodles from butternut squash or zucchini.

dhrguru got a reaction from myalis17 in IUD has moved
I have the mirena, had it since before WLS and still have it. It hasn't moved. It does seem logical that it could shift with weight loss, but coming out seems odd. That being said- I've never been able to feel my strings.

Call me cynical- but I wonder if the help would have be organized if they knew the reason....

dhrguru reacted to AZLoser in Yet another NSAID question
Until I read some of these posts I never heard a Dr. say it's ok to use NSAIDs after sleeve. Once in a while it's fine but on a regular basis it's not. Risk of ulcer over time is huge after sleeve and your stomach is too small to risk it. I've heard lots of horror stories from people who thought they'd be fine and ended up in E.R.

dhrguru reacted to TheBearguy8 in Complication? It's not working, there's a complication
I am 2 months ish almost now and just wanted to say - my original post looks nuts right now and I want to remove it out of embarrassment - but perhaps someone will be helped by it. Everything is going great, and if I could find in my profile where I could post my progress of weight loss, I'd be happy to share that with you.

dhrguru reacted to Joann454 in The Shame of WLS
Back when my sister had her RNY 17 years ago, I remember thinking she will never have to diet again and that I should gain 60lbs so I could qualify. Then I watched her struggle post surgery (it was an open surgery back then) and then slowly gain weight back and having to go back to weight watchers. I quickly learned this was only a tool and would only work if you helped it work.
Before then I do believe I thought it was the easy way out. As this surgery becomes more common I think people will end up knowing someone who had it and come to realize that while it helps, it's not the easy way out.
I've only told a few people I've had it. It's not because I'm ashamed, it's because I don't want the added pressure of people looking at me to see if I've lost weight or in some cases flat out asking me. I'm a sloooow loser and am trying to deal with that on my own. I don't want or need judging eyes on me.

dhrguru got a reaction from sweesee in The evolution of weight loss compliments
I've been getting lots of compliments, and it humorous to me to see how they've evolved. They have progressed like this:
(The double take-- no words, just looking twice cause something seems different.)
You look like you're losing weight.
You're slimming down
You look great
You're getting skinny
Your face looks so slim
You're getting too skinny
Careful, you don't want your face to get too skinny
You're withering away!
I guess 'skin and bones' is coming next. Doesn't bother me, but listing them out shows how this slowly turns into passive- aggressive 'advice' when others feel enough is enough.

dhrguru reacted to BigViffer in Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??
How? That's simple. You chose to eat the pizza. You chose to eat piece after piece knowing that every bite was a bad idea, yet doing it anyways.
Totally lost your journey? I don't even know what that means, but drop the melodrama. Wallowing in useless emotion does no good. You made a mistake. Own it. Make a decision now; will you take the surgery seriously from now on or will you let the desire for simple food rule your life at the expense of your health.
The surgery is only a tool. How you choose to use that tool will determine how successful you will be after the honeymoon phase.
