Alora VSG Begonia got a reaction from VSGAnn2014 in Starving at bedtime
I found sometimes that shortly after surgery extreme hunger feeling at night was actually Acid. Don't know if it's the same for you but in those weeks I needed to take some prilosec every day and having a tums around bedtime seemed to really help with that hunger feeling. sleeping with my upper body slightly inclined helped too but mostly it was the acid-reduction that helped. If it's not the acid maybe a little benedryl to help you sleep a little deeper. I find that helps me too when my cravings are a little stronger during that time of the month.

May you could add an option for none as most people do not gain weight. I have gained none. It does fluctuate 2 pounds close to the mentrual period as normal but it goes away in a couple of days.

@@cole225 I did that pre-op and took some over the counter sleep aid to help me sleep. Careful you'll probably start having dreams about pigging out. I did. Then I'd wake up all freaked out thinking I ate a bunch of junk.

Alora VSG Begonia got a reaction from ♥dreamable in Got told by a coworker today that I'm taking the "easy way"
I have a question. What if it WAS the easy way out? It isn't but what if it was? WHO CARES. What does he want you to carry a wooden cross across the public square and pay penance for you sin of being overweight? Give me an effing break. This whole notion that fat people are some sort of moral failures is so messed up. If there WAS an overnight pancea that required no surgery and no work on my part, I'd probably use that too. Why is MY BODY someone elses example for moral failing. Your health issues and decisions are none of anyone's freaking business. I think that's why people love that Biggest Loser show. they just love watching us cry, and puke, and basically get whipped and humiliated in public for just existing in these bodies. It makes me very mad.

That's social media for you. It can be a fantastic resource but it can also be a disaster. A great way to ruin the reputation of a perfectly good surgeon. I'm new on here, but people need to seriously calm down.

I figured something didn't smell right about this topic....
AustinJackson's IP address (189.220.27.35) is located in Mexico and is most likely another coordinator. I'm attaching a screenshot of the IP:

AustinJackson has also signed up for multiple accounts on or around the same date that they signed up (xixmartoxix85 etc.)
The surgeon that was listed for illegally operating is Dr. Jesus Manuel Baez Lopez (cosmetic surgeon) who is partners with Dr. Sergio Quinones. You can see a picture of Dr. Jesus Manuel Baez Lopez clearly at http://santafemedicalgroup.com/page/dr-jesus-manuel-baez-lopez as well as here:

This is NOT the Dr. Jesus Martin Lopez Dominguez we work with. Here is a picture of Dr. Jesus Martin Lopez Dominguez:

Black & Bleu Pastrami Sandwich Prep time - 8 minutes Cook time - 2 minutes
I've never been a huge fan of pastrami. On it's own it reminds me too much of an over-cured hotdog, even when I make my own from my goats. But put it on this particular sandwich - WATCH OUT. For the recipe below, I used the columbus brand pastrami from costco as I doubt most others here do their own charcuterie. Also, please note that this sandwich is quite large (from a post-op perspective), I rarely can even quite finish a half, but it's just as good the next day.
    Ingredients:
    Pastrami - 3 Slices
    BariBread - 2 slices
    Dill Pickle - 1
    Reduced fat cheddar, shredded - 20 g
Chunky bleu cheese dressing - 1 Tbsp
Stone ground mustard - 2 tsp
Arugula (optional) - 1 small handful
Yellow onion, diced - 1/4 cup
    Preparation:
Carmelize your onions over medium low heat - this is essential! Just be careful not to burn them
Decide which slice of your bread will be side A and which will be side B, we'll be building these open-faced and the order is important.
    Slice A:
Slather on the mustard - use more if you like, it's calorie free (nearly)
Slice your pickle into even slices and arrange to cover as much of the bread as possible
Fold the pastrami slices in half and arrange on the pickles evenly
    Slice B:
Spread the bleu cheese dressing on this side evenly
Spread the onions over the dressing evenly
Spread the cheese over the onions, be sure to cover all of the onions as this will help hold the sandwich together.
Low-broil both slices open-faced until the cheese is melted and lightly browned. Watch it closely as it burns easily.
Remove from the broiler, place the arugula, if desired, between the halves of the sandwich, put everything together, slice into quarters and enjoy! Just be sure to chew thoroughly.
Nutrition - remember, I only ever eat, at most, half of one of these at a time

Hi all, there's a chance I might not be living in NY in a few months so instead of chancing it I'm just having the VSG done in mexico on April 16th. I'm sort of relieved because I was just on the border at 40bmi and now I can start my healthy lifestyle right now instead of waiting and worrying about staying at that weight until this summer. I'm still going to do my sleep study and my nutritionist/psychologist meetings because I think it'll be good mental preparation and my insurance covers it anyway, but I don't want to risk having to move and start the process over again with another insurance company in another state with another doctor. Not to mention, I'd rather do the recovery in early spring and actually enjoy my summer. lol!

Yeah my doc said only liquid today days before surgery but I'm starting a two shakes and a meal plan right now. I figure whatever I lose between now and April 16th is what I won't have to lose after surgery. Better to get me in the headspace now instead of having food funerals. I've had enough of those over the years during my many dieting stints.

Alora VSG Begonia reacted to blahblahblah in Banded while breastfeeding?
    hello,
I am nursing my twin 18 month olds and was banded two weeks ago. Quite frankly, I would talk to your lac, but I haven't found it too hard...I am a little dehydrated, but our bodies can work off of our fat stores...
Your child will be 10 months when you are banded, right? Well, to be honest, at that point you are no longer the main source of nutrition...so you may not need to even need to supplement. Just make sure you hydrate.
I was uncomfortable nursing initially, but after the second day, I felt better.
Any questions, please feel free to ask!

I never said people couldn't have intolerances. I said that paleo's reasoning behind it is unscientific. It's not because grains are so "new" and vegetables are so "old." I am only talking about the science of evolutionary biology. Check out the links if you want to know more.

My doc doesn't require the two week preop diet. I had to lose 10% of my excess weight, which I've done over the past 6 months. As if taking 6 months to lose 16 lbs isn't evidence enough that I need this surgery if I am going to lose this weight before I am 103! I am doing shakes for two meals a day now to get ready and trying to lose a few more lbs before surgery ( she is very strict - wont operate if I'm any higher than goal. Trying to avoid food funerals but I have 2 dinners out this weekend. I may end up going all liquid next week just in case.
Have you started the two week prep? How is it going for you?
