  1. I’m looking for a forum, an online chat, not video meetings like overeaters anonymous. I have my gastric sleeve in April 2015. Prior to the sleeve I lost 62 pounds on my own. When I had the surgery , it was like it destroyed my metabolism and I could no longer lose. I lost 5 pounds from the surgery despite eating a protein based 300-500 calorie, high intensity exercise plan. My surgeon did not want follow up visits, and although I insisted twice, he could give me no answers, and ran no tests. I eventually, after 6 months, lost 25 pounds, much slower rate than before the surgery. That was it. For the next 3 years, despite my hunger having never been diminished, I still could eat about half as much as before right after surgery, and eventually I could eat as if I never had the surgery. But suddenly my metabolism came back and I lost another 30 pounds! But I could not maintain it, as I have no restriction at all from the surgery and full hunger. I have gained 40 pounds. My original weight was 262, dieted, on my own to 200. Had surgery April, 2015, lost over a six month period after gastric sleeve to 175. Then no weight loss for 3 years. Then did Atkins in 2018 and got down to 143. Lasted less than a year. Now I am 185. So 5 years and 4 months out from surgery, my net loss is 15 pounds. Oh, and I have done the pouch reset diet. So now I want a food addict chat or forum. The surgery wasn’t a good tool for me. I need to break my addiction to food. Does anyone know of anything like this online? Thanks in advance.

5 years post op and have huge REGRET!

Hi, Yes, my surgery was a waste of time, has left me in worse shape, and it has been 5 years and 4 months. I come on here every few years, but you won’t find anyone who understands. This is a site for the cheerleaders of the surgery. I came today to see if anyone knew of a site for support for failed surgeries or food addiction. NOT OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS. My overeating is still 1000 calories a day, but the surgery destroyed my body.
  3. Thanks but OA does video meetings like zoom. I just want a chat or message board, something like this. I also don’t want a 12 step program like they have. Overeaters Anonymous is a very specific program. I just want to chat. Thanks though, so much.

  5. I am 3 years 1 month post op and up to now have pretty much regretted my sleeve. I did not lose weight, in fact in destroyed my metabolism and left me with other health issues. This year, I began to lose weight again. It’s like my body finally recovered. I had been dieting and exercising all along. I have no restriction any more, I could eat a large pizza if I wanted to, lol, but I am doing Atkins and am finally down 114 pounds. The only effect of the surgery I feel is liquid with food still nauseates me. It has been a motivator. I wasn’t going to stop trying. I had lost from 262 to 205 prior to surgery. Now I am 148. My goal weight is between 120-130.
  6. In the last 2 years it has varied. I have worked with a nutritionist and done everything "textbook". Then today for instance I had 2 tostados, a plate of nachos, corn, iced tea and 2 cookies for dinner. Like I said, my surgery did not restrict my stomach or appetite. Obviously, I wasn't even trying, but what I wanted from my surgery did not happen at all. I am on my own.
  7. I am a little more than 2 years out from my Gastric Sleeve. Problem is, I never really lost any weight. In the first few weeks after surgery, when I was dehydrated, unable to drink, nauseated, and in pain, I dropped 25 pounds which immediately came back as soon as I could consume any nutrition at all. i only lost 5 pounds from my surgery. i am at that weight today. What really disgusts me is that prior to surgery, i was losing weight regularly. i had lost 62 pounds on my own. Now, I find it impossible to do so. I wish I could use my Sleeve, but it seems to be working against me, although I am unable to eat as much as before, I can eat a substantial amount and have a large appetite. I have seen my doctor, nutritionist, etc. For medical reasons, I am unable to exercise. Any suggestions? PS. i am on Medicare, they will not pay for revision surgery as I am 5 foot 4, 195 pounds.

    Feel like a failure

I did not lose any weight at all with my sleeve. 2 years out and I am still at my pre surgery weight. I can eat very large portions on days I am disgusted and don't even try- a whopper and frys, 4 pieces of pizza, no problem, 32 ounce Icee.I felt sick to my stomach for a few weeks post op as you would do after any surgery but that was it.
  9. ail? have Anyone else have total surgery fail? surgery fail?
  10. Yes, I have spoken to my surgeon and he has no answers and doesn't care now that he has been paid. My PCP also has no answers for me. I have had lab testing. I have no restriction. I could eat a whole pizza if I wanted too and I do want to but I don't do it. I am very good on my diet plan as I was prior to surgery. I thought the surgery would ensure that I wouldn't gain the weight back and I would continue to lose weight instead it halted my weight loss in its tracks. I had the sleeve not the band.

  12. The post I was trying to make was 2 years out, no weight loss, no restriction or appetite loss. my metabolism is totally destroyed and I can no longer lose weight with diet and exercise depite losing 62 pounds on my own prior to surgery. My medical issues are worse, Gerd, bone pain. Has anyone else experienced this- total surgery fail?
  13. I don't understand why I have so much trouble posting on this site! I had to open a new window, type my content and then paste my comment and that still didnt work!

Are you eating enough? Sometimes too small portions wrecks your metabolism. Do you have a nutritionist to confer with? Check out this thread. Maybe it'll help shed some light depending on your situation. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/386879-anyone-who-does-not-count-calories-ever/

  15. y Well my sleeve brought my metabolism to a halt and my weightloss also. I have only been able to lose 25 pounds in 11 months since my surgery where as I lost 60 plus pounds on my prior to it. Yes, I have done everything the recommendations etc. At this time I can pretty much eat 80 percent of the volume of a normal sized meal if I choose too, which I don't. Also my appetite is 80 percent normal. So I have maintained the pitiful 25 pounds weightloss from the surgery for almost a year but unfortunately the other 55 pounds I need to lose to be healthy I can't lose because my metabolism is destroyed. My doctor has no explanation. to a halt. I WAS
  16. All good advice. Not sure I want more surgery. I have tried tweeking my diet over the last 11 months but nothing seems to help. My situation is very frustrating.
  17. My GERD has not improved, Sleep Apnea, Arthritis, High cholesterol all there and some lab values such as triglycerides worse since surgery.
  18. I have a nutritionist. Doing 1000 or less calories, 95 grams protein, low carb, minimum 8 glasses water, the whole party line.
  19. My surgery was a total failure from the get go so I have been thinking of requesting an MRI to look at my sleeve. Maybe this would be an option for you also. Or some other gastric imaging study.
  20. Multiple typos, sorry, unable to edit. Had to cut and paste from another app to even post.

    Long term slow loser results?

Well, I am basically a non- loser. I started dieting on my own- presurgery at 245 pound January 2015. I had my surgery April 2015 at 205 pounds, came home next day at 200 pounds. I think the 5 pounds was still from the preop liquid diet. As soon as I had my surgery my weight loss abruptly stopped. I consulted my surgeon as he had taken me off my Metformin and HCTZ (diaretic). At my insistence he put me back on. Even though I eat less than 800 calories a day, drink greater than or equal to 8 glasses of water and 80 to 90 gm of protein my weight loss is basically nothing since the surgery. I work out for an our 6 days a week at the gym. I had lost in the 10 months since my surgery but have gained, inexplicably 10 of that back for a net loss of 15 pounds. Prior to surgery my weight loss was steady. It's as if my metabolism was chancged. Both my surgeon and PCP can offer no advice. Additional my triglycerides are now high - 159 which they were not before. I have developed other medical problems and none of my previous problems have resolved. So has anyone ever heard of anyone else that the surgery was such a fail for?
  22. There is someone on this site who did, I can't remember her name but I think she was happy with him. I had Dr. Dominguez in Covington, no complications at all but I didn't care for him really.
  23. @@Inner Surfer Girl I don't eat a large amount but I have dill pickles, olives, and jalapeños all the time. Unfortunately the smallest amount triggers major Fluid retention.
