  1. Sorry if this isn't the best place to post that topic but I was wondering if anyone that gets their Protein shakes from Insure Nutrition have you used their metabolic supplement and do you feel it's helped your weight loss? I was approved for my insurance to cover the shakes, scar cream, and metabolic supplement and just curious to know how it's worked. Thanks!!
  2. Unless you find someone that just started taking it during a stall or is close to their goal like you I just don't see how that's helpful. Im using it but im also only a month out from surgery and have nothing to compare it to. Can I attribute my weight loss to just normal first month weight loss or help from the powder? Who knows. Try it for a month, if you don't feel it's helping to break your stall perhaps going back to your nutritionist is the best answer to help devise a place to break the stall and lose your remaining weight.

    It worked!

Haha! Yeah. There is a BIG difference between yogurt and meat. I always love the posts that ask how much people can eat. It definitely depends on WHAT you are eating. 5 oz. of yogurt is EASY. But I STILL can't eat more than 2 oz. of tuna. I can eat 3-4oz of meat and im a month out. I don't think it's that ridiculous and that's what both my nutritionist and surgeon recommend.
  4. Always always always pick an appetizer!! It's going to be smaller portioned than an entree and usually less expensive! Soup is also a good option but im sure you're not going to want to eat soup constantly! Besides that's a slider food and a lot of soups might be cream based which means lots of hidden calories. Good luck!

    5 months out...

That's not necessarily true, and you could be putting your body into starvation mode. You should be talking with your nutritionist and or your surgeon about what you can do to drop your last bit of weight. Good luck!
  6. Im also a month out and I know I've been constantly dehydrated. It's just something you've got to work on but if you stop urinating at least 3 times a day call your surgeons office because you'll need fluid! And continuing eating iceblocks (im assuming you're Australian?) because ice pops count as fluid! I've been eating a lot of soft cheeses. Im not sure if you have baby bell or laughing cow cheese but perhaps you can google them and find something similar? I've also been doing low fat string cheese.
  7. I don't really think anyone's feedback is going to be helpful to be honest. You can't really compare your weight loss against anyone else's.
  8. I'm confused what do you need feedback from? Use the Protein shakes like you would and supplement. The scar cream you use the smaller tube and then cover it with what's in the larger tube (silicone). If you also received the metabolic supplement mix the appropriate amount into your Protein shake. As for needing to speak with the manager you didn't explain why?

    My last resort

Are you on medication for it? I was on metformin? Basically like a diabetic. Also if you're in a 40 BMIndoesnt that automatically make you 100 lbs overweight? I was a 37 and you could argue I was 100 lbs overweight. Im 5'4 started at 220 I could be 120 and be a healthy weight for my height so I could in theory lose 100 lbs and my BMI wasn't as high as yours. Also never heard of you needing a comorbidity over a 40 BMI but I guess your insurance could have different requirements. Simple solution call and ask and then request they send you what they tell you in a letter so you have documentation.

    My last resort

Yes absolutely! That was my comorbidity, i was approved in less than 24 hrs of my surgeons office submitting my paperwork. I was on the "lower end" of the paperwork. Depending on your height though your BMI should approve you all by itself. I didn't have to do a 6 month supervised diet.
  11. Hi everyone just wanted to update you. It's been a week and this is what it looks like now. Hopefully by next week the scab will be all gone. I have my one month appointment next Tuesday and will definitely have surgeon look at it. Thanks for all your input! Hopefully this thread helps someone in the future. All I did was put bacitracin on it and covered it with gauze. I changed it twice a day, showered daily making sure to let the Water run over it and soap as well. I also took pictures when I woke up and after I showered at night so I could see its progression.
  12. I had a single incision sleeve through my belly button 15 days ago. I noticed two nights ago after a shower my belly button was a lot redder than its been and I had a tiny hole here is a picture. I called my surgeons office but explained I had already planned on going to see my PCP yesterday because she wanted to see me two weeks after surgery she swabbed me to see if it was infected (she didn't think it was) and recommended I put bacitracin on the hole and gave me a tetanus shot. I took a shower last night and realized the hole has gotten bigger and now looks like this When I had called the surgeons office yesterday they said wait to see what my PCP said well i emailed my surgeon the pictures and he said do what my PCP said there's not much we can do and if it gets worse go in to see him. Im not really satisfied with that answer because I don't want it to get worse! I want it to start getting better now! Has anyone had this happen to them? Im growing very concerned as I've read online a dehiscence like this can completely open your entire incision and I don't want that to happen. Any advice is appreciated. Is there another type of doctor I can see? I was thinking wound specialist but what would they be classified under in my provider directory because I'm not seeing anything listed as that. Thanks in advance!

25, mom of 2 and sleeving soon

Hi, I'm 24 also from Westchester the lower part what about you?Hi! Sorry my app never notifies me when I have a new comment ????. I'm in yonkers. hey hun! Congrats!!!! I still don't have a date yet. Hopefully soon! Hi there! Im in Scarsdale right next to Yonkers!! I had my surgery on 2/24. Who is your surgeon?
  14. Both alcohol and peroxide are no-no's. Just use warm Water and a mild non perfumed soap along with the meds your PCP prescribe. Contrary to popular opinion they are actually more harmful to healing tissue. Oh I'n aware no peroxide or alcohol not sure why a nurse practitioner would suggest that. Thanks for looking out
  15. I feel a bit better knowing you went through it too. About how long did it take to close up and heal for you? Thanks! I haven't that's why I'm nervous im not sure how I'll heal.
  16. As did mine but as I mentioned my surgeon took them off at my one week visit that was not my decision but his as the one who did the surgery. I was also strictly instructed to not put any type of alcohol or peroxide on the skin as it breaks it down and does not promote healing. I was also swabbed for infection and it is not infection, it is not oozing nor has it ever, I have no fever, and it is not warm to the touch. My surgery was also over two weeks ago and this just started happening. And my PCP is the one I went to, did you read my original post before commenting or what?
  17. Okay thanks everyone! It was just healing fine and now this!! Just a little upsetting to say the least. I will keep you all updated.
  18. I had steri strips on my surgeon took them off one week post off. Everything has been closed until two night ago when this little hole formed.
  19. Okay thanks, im on the "smaller end" of the losing game im at 202 right now. Im just upset this happened as i had no issues really up until it. I also am regretting my surgeon choice I feel like this is just very much a business to him. I would have assumed he would have at least wanted to see me and he basically told me unless it gets a lot worse not to bother and that irritates me. Thanks for the advice @elode.
  20. No @@Elode I was told to keep gauze over it with the bacitracin being reapplied twice a day. Although I am not a diabetic i do have PCOS and was on a diabetic medication (taken off since surgery) and I do have MS. Im young, only 24, but I'm worried about it healing properly because of my MS and my compromised immune system.
  21. Unless you have a fever day of surgery these absolutely no reason why they won't do it. It's also an entire week away. I highly doubt you'll still feel that sick by then. Keep up your fluids and call your surgeons office if you're concerned.

    Surg Date Scheduled! Need Input!

I actually didn't think GasX was necessary. I think it depends on your surgeon and how much time he takes on trying to get out the excess gas prior to closing up. I never had any pain from gas and never used the gasx strips I bought. The only discomfort I felt was like a really intense ab workout I also only had one incision but I don't think that should have any impact on gas pain.
  23. I had surgery the same day as you as well. I was on puréed food before I left the hospital. I still haven't felt full and stop out of fear of vomiting. I think once im eating real food I'll be able to feel it. I am not hungry. In fact I have to force myself to eat because I'm just not interested. Don't get me wrong everything looks good to me and I want to eat all my favorites but I have no desire if that makes any sense.
  24. I had protein shakes and puréed food in the hospital only way I was allowed to be discharged was if I kept it down. Protein shakes are still liquids as long as you're not putting fruit in it. You can call your surgeon but I don't see why not. I think it's torture what some surgeons make their patients do, doesn't make any sense at all.
