  1. I am ready to cancel my sleeve because I'm so scared that my antidepressants won't work for me after my surgery. I have read and researched so much that I'm literally having panic attacks about it. Talked with my psych np and got no real answers either. I have a history of depression and am scared now to have this surgery, but need to lose the weight for health reasons.
  2. I'm on for the sleeve October 30
  3. My psych gave me pristiq today for my depression, switching me from prozac to this. I'm so confused. What are the best antidepressants to take after the sleeve that will be able to be absorbed with your smaller pouch?

    Psychotropic meds

The question I'm having a problem getting an answer to is do I take the short or long acting form of my antidepressants after surgery?

    Surgery scheduled!

Congratulations! I'm the 29th of Oct and very nervous
  8. I've been reading all evening about people who had the bypass who have suffered with depression before surgery, that have been more depressed after the surgery, possibly due to malabsorption. I've had issues with depression most of my life, but currently am managing fairly well. I'm so scared of my depression getting worse after surgery. I'm about ready to cancel my surgery after researching this topic today. I'm currently in a state of panic. Any others dealt with this issue?

    3 month follow up

Congrats! Keep up the good work
  13. I usually have my esophagus stretched about every 5 to 7 years and am probably about due for it. I'm scheduled for the bypass on October 29th. Should I get it done b4 my surgery? I'm not really experiencing much problem swallowing unless I eat too large bites of steak or chicken. What is your thoughts?

    Feeling amazing! !

You also made me feel hopeful as well. I'm hoping to get off some meds too, and get rid of my ankle pain...
  15. Has anyone on here ever went out and bought some new clothes before they've had their surgery, just anticipating what size they think they might be? I bought several items today on clearance for next year!
  16. I'm hurting so bad in my right ankle from just walking one mile on Sunday. I sure hope the weight loss helps my foot. So discouraged right now because I can't go walking

    New clothes

I bought a couple summer tops in large for next year. Figured couldn't go wrong with them on clearance.

  22. My surgery will be Oct 29 with my pre-op Oct 14. Now I'm excited and nervous. So dreading the liquid diet. Hope I will continue to have all your support. I'm going in to have the bypass, but may end up having sleeve if my adhesions are too massive. I'm in NC and will be having surgery in Hickory.
  23. I've been on meds for depression since I was 21. I'm now 56, and have suffered with several bouts of major depression episodes. I'm stable on my psych meds now, and have been stable for about two years. I'm worried this will affect the effectiveness of the meds or that the surgery will cause a major depression episode. I've been told exercise is very effective after surgery and will help with depression. I just hope I remain stable. I plan to discuss with my psych before surgery, just wondering about some of your experiences.
  24. Dar200 I am encouraged and hopeful that exercise and maintaining our meds will keep us stable.
  25. I'm just praying the bypass doesn't interfere with these meds continuing to work for me.
