1 day post op and pain is very minimal. Thank God. I'm glad I got through it! I'm home now and not hungry. Forcing sips of liquid to stay hydrated.

End of week 3. No weight loss. Barely eating. Everything bothers me going down. I feel weak, faint and fatigued. Lips get purple. Feeling a little stomach pain at times. Everything I swallow seems to stay in my throat or want to come back up but I never actually throw up. I'm allowed soft foods but if it's not liquid it hurts my tummy going down and as digesting. I'd rather not eat. Is this normal?

Um, no. Just like most the people on here, I have an unhealthy relationship with food. Pretty sure a food addiction. And if anyone could have stuck to a a diet or healthy lifestyle change, they wouldn't have had chosen a surgery as a last resort. Also, just as any lifestyle change, it's a process. And its going to take time to adjust And settle. Everyone makes mistakes. It is mental and it's not a brain issue you can fix over night. You live abd you learn. I've learned my lesson. I do not appreciate the judging.

Thank you all for sharing. I am now on my 3rd week. I am doing well. The switch has finally turned on in my brain. I honestly feel it was an adjustment I needed to mentally go through.its a big change for anyone to process. I am on soft foods this week And feel a bit more normal. I went to Kemah over the weekend and I was fine being surrounded by all the bad foods I once enjoyed. NO TEMPTATIONS. I am extremely proud of myself and how I am evolving into this new person and lifestyle.

Well, my belly button incision started bleeding today.I almost fainted. Doctor said patch area with Gauze and all should be OK until he can check it out Tuesday.has this happened to anyone??
I know i have been doing a lot more than I should...like bending and picking things up. I'm still only sipping 1 0z at a time. Broths and juice. Also eating popsicles. I am feeling frustrated that I can't eat solid foods and watching others eat and smelling delicious smells.I will admit, I miss tasting food. Bottom line is I want to chew. I've been on liquids 3 full weeks now. from pre op liquid diet to 4 days post op, I've lost 17lbs...not that I can tell yet. I am starting to feel my mental strength dissipate. I want to be healed so I can move around like normal and I want to be able to eat normally. I know I need to be strong and patient.

@@BLERDgirl what a blessing. I envy you. I think my age makes it a bit more difficult. Everyone around me in their twenties eat like a typical twenty something year old...food trucks, pizza, fried food, latenight whataburger, alcohol etc. Most of them do it without gaining any weight. Oh, how I hate that! I've had to distance myself from these people while I recover. I know this is what's best for me, but I'm human and I do feel like I'm missing out at times.

It's only 5 days out and I'm starting to feel sad. Like when will I be normal again. I feel like I will never be able to enjoy food or even just physically eat again. I can't tolerate more than 2 Oz of liquid. It's extra hard when everyone is able to eat at family dinners but me....especially my mother's home cooked meals that I really love. I know rice is out for 6 months which is going to be very difficult coming from a Hispanic household. It's a staple. We eat it with everything. Tonight was my brother in laws birthday and on the menu for the normal people was arroz con Pollo and ice cream cake...both My faves. Is it normal to feel sad??

I'm sorry I honestly had an unremarkable course. No depression or sadness about missing food. No gas, nausea or vomiting. I didn't have pain and so far I've tolerated everything I try to eat. I felt pretty much back to normal within about a week. Stopped getting super tired that I needed a nap midday probably around week 3.

Everyone or close to it. It's just head hunger you must stay the course follow surgeons directions.
Don't chew food and spit it out either that's just going to make it worse.

I'm 4days out and I'm still on liquids and broths. I can't handle more than 2 ounces at a time. I do wish I could chew something solid but I know I cant. Next week is my post op appointment. I'll be doing soft liquids or possibly pureed foods. I wonder be able to eat solids until after my 3rd week out.

I rather hear what people are going through, that is the purpose of this forum. obviously for medical issues I go to my physician but there is nothing wrong with coming here for advice and experience! !

@@BHoenig - I always ask what guidelines they have been given by their nutritionist. No one is judging but some questioning is required if we are to offer advice. One of the main things I suggest to anyone having difficulty meeting their Protein goals or feeling frustrated is if they have discussed this with their medical team. Especially since many come here to vent but don't go back to their team and try to work out a more livable solution.

does it hurt to get out of hospital bed? Or to sit on toilet? What about pants...does it hurt to wear pants while sitting on the riDE home? And do you need a button up shirt or zipper shirt? like, does it hurt to put arms up to put on a tshirt?
Sorry so many questions, I'm trying to pack my bag for Mondays surgery.
