Not exactly the same, but I either drank too much Water at one time and/or ate slightly too much on Monday. I've had pain when burping, which turned into sharp stomach pain (periodically) when not burping. It appears to have stopped this afternoon (I hope).
The bariatric nurse thinks I could have irritated my stomach/sleeve. She recommended liquids and/or very soft foods. I've stuck to liquids the past two days, perhaps that will help you?
When all else fails call your Dr (if for nothing else, peace of mind). Good luck!

    Hey Bariactric Pal family!!!
I am down over 120# over 10 months out and near my goal weight. I have never considered plastic surgery in my life, but I got a new lease on life and the skin is bothersome and I would like it gone. I would love to hear simple numbers on what you had and how much it cost and if insurance paid for any of it!
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Federal Employee Program (FEP).
How did you find your surgeon?
Anyone recommend one in Portland Oregon?
Also, how long was your recovery? time off work? 2 weeks?
Thanks so much for all your input!

When they put the IV in, you will feel a little prick. (My first ex-husband was a little prick!). Then just let them give you a nice nap. When you wake up, you will have your new tummy.

Have you considered talking to a counselor? This sounds so much like dysfunctional eating behavior -- the kind that got many of us to the place where we needed WLS.

Do 2 laps laps night, was doing great, but woke up in pain this am. Had it in my head I could only press pain pump button once every hr not every 15 min so I let it get ahead of me! Waiting for it to come down then will go walking. Thanks guys!

Thank you everyone! I made it through with flying colors! Things went a lot better than I could have ever hoped. The worst pain was in my back and left side incision area. At first the pain pump wasn't strong enough but they adjusted it and it really nipped it in the bud. Feel it slightly when I'm breathing deep, but again, not bad. They'll be helping me with my first walk in about an hour.
Very tired, but the experience was a lot easier than I was expecting. I'll answer more in deep in the coming days.
Thanks for all the support! ????

Today is FINALLY my day. July 29, 2015, at high noon, I'm having my surgery!
Wow, what a head rush and surreal experience, all wrapped into one. It took an entire year, but it has definitely been the most life changing journey I've ever embarked upon. I will never forget the struggle that brought me here, the friends I've made, or the health and happiness I hope to achieve.
I chose my screen name, The Candidate, because in all my research the most reoccurring phrase was "You might be a candidate for weight loss surgery if..." Not sure what to identify myself with after surgery. Is "The Post Op" taken? ????
This is "The Candidate" (but not for much longer), signing off, and heading to the hospital.
Thank you all, and I'll be seeing you on the other side. ❤️

I do not have much patience for this story.
Of course it's permanent - what wasn't understood about "gastrectomy"? This is a permanent tool, not a panacea. I guarantee that I could lose weight without the sleeve - what I was unable to do was keep it off, ever.
I fail to understand how you could not be aware of the facts relative to the surgery. Many programs provide just loads of information concerning what you can expect (risks, benefits, etc). I think the internet existed 3 years ago and nothing stops a person (choosing surgery) from asking any and as many questions as possible of their actual Dr.
I'm sorry you've regained weight with the sleeve. You know the correct steps to do something about it, if you choose. And if you do not know, then search this board (using Google - the built in board search isn't good, imo).
I predict this will be a trending topic.

A mistake for you -- your truth, not mine or many others. The truth is that you have regret and it only hurts you. Your post is lazy and long. You could have summed it all up in 5 bullet points.

I think the problem is, and I quote you, "I decided to have the surgery and 2 weeks later, I was in Mexico and sleeved - Stupidest and most stubborn decision I ever made.@"
In my humble opinion, NO ONE should go in to this ELECTIVE surgery without properly educating themselves. It is a permanent solution. No going back. I researched for a year before I came to my final decision. Was it scary? Yes, yes it was. But being morbidly obese and dying from the complications were more scary to me. In my life, it was the best decision I ever made for myself. I put me first for the very first time ever. I don't regret a thing. Yes, my portion sizes are smaller (thank God) and yes, I eat Protein first, then veggies, then a bite of something dessert if I am craving it. I don't restrict the types of food I eat. I definitely eat healthier than I ever have in my life and I am not deprived of anything. I just exercise control of choices now, which I never did before surgery. I am thrilled that I made this decision and know, without a doubt, that I extended my life by having this surgery.
I'm sorry that you regret it. I wish you would read a little more about the surgery and taken a little more time before you jumped in. A lifetime of regret would be no fun, I hope you come to terms with your tummy and learn to treat it right. I wish you nothing but success but think that without educating yourself (even now, three years later) you are setting yourself for continued failure.

no onions reacted to spiritfilled in Barrett's Esophagus. Good News. Correction. Great News
Back in May I was having a lot of heartburn, indigestion, pain, and nausea. I had already seen a WL doctor and he suggested that I do the bypass instead of the sleeve because of all my heartburn and indigestion. In the process of this I went to the Gastro doctor and may they did a colonoscopy and a endoscopy. I found out that I have Barrett's esophagus and ulcers in my esophagus. For those of you who don't know, Barrett's esophagus means that I am precancerous. They put me on medication and she wanted to scope me again in 45 days. I was scoped on July 17 and they call me with the results today. No more Barrett's esophagus and everything is looking good. I still have gastritis in my stomach and the same type inflammation in my esophagus. She said to continue my medication. This is better news to me than being approved for weight-loss surgery, Because there is no cancer. I see her in about four weeks and she may discuss hernia repair because my GERD is so bad
I think weight-loss surgery is on hold for me right now until I get this stomach and esophagus healed. The other good news is I have drastically decreased my Coke intake and no weight loss.
I'm also scheduled for major eye surgery on August 12. This is one of the reasons I chose to back off on weight-loss surgery. But again I am cancer free in Jesus name. Amen

    I have a couple -
    1. Fewer slip-on shoes. It had reached the point where I specifically looked for shoes I wouldn't have to bend over and tie.
    2. Clipping toenails - my abdomen would frequently cramp from the necessary positioning. * I did get a pedicure on Friday because my wounds won't let me quite bend enough yet.
    3. Towels that will wrap around your waist (without being bath sheets).
    4. Burning any and all "comfort stretch" waisted pants that are in my closet. You know -- the kind with the "hidden" extra inches. Actually, I will happily donate any clothing.
    5. Reduced sweating - hopefully. I'm hoping I don't need to sit under the ceiling fan every morning after I get ready for work, just to cool-down before heading to the car.
    6. Removing myself from the big and tall catalogs, mailing lists and rewards programs.
    7. Really just looking forward to feeling better overall! :-)

And also a set of Happy Lunchboxes:

The YumBox is seriously adorable, leakproof, and well-made. I love the little compartments. The Happy Lunchboxes have 4 compartments (3 small, 1 large), are also leakproof, and seem to be well-made. I can't wait to start packing lunches!

My background is in training and professional development and I consider myself a lifetime learner. I can honestly say that deciding to have WLS, preparing to have surgery, and equipping myself to be successful has led me to learn a great deal: about the surgery itself, nutrition, mindful eating, food choices, exercise, metabolism, obesity, etc.
Going forward there is so much to learn: how to cook, how to dress, relationships, etc.
I am curious to hear about specific things you have learned along the way as well as some of the best resources you have found to help you learn about this process.
What have you learned? What else do you need to learn? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I don't know where to begin trying to calculate everything I've learned in the years spent first considering bariatric surgery, and then ratcheting up that research this past year, after the decision to proceed was reached.
I will say that I definitely learned more on my own, here on these boards, and with other outside sources, than I ever did during the six months of mandatory classes I took as part of my insurance process. There were even times when I wanted to jump up and teach it myself, as the material covered seemed so rudimentary, barely skimming the surface, and so far from the in depth expose I was expecting.
I've learned that the learning process will never end, and that once I'm a post op I'm probably going to feel like a novice all over again, on the realms of a newborn, and it'll probably feel that exact same way as I graduate through each level, such as the different eating stages, stalls, maintenance, and so on.
Finally, I've learned that even at 54, starting your life over again is still a viable option, if you're willing to work for it. That I'm a lot stronger and determined than I've ever given myself credit for. And that complacency is an easy trap that if fallen into, can lead me right back to where I started.
