  1. Hello Everyone,

My name is Jurisha and I was banded on 04/09/03 in Houston, Texas by Dr. Hadar Spivak. I live in Humble, Texas (a "suburb" of Houston) I'm 27 years old, married, and working on kids someday. ;-)

I think this new board is great, thanks Alex!

This is a closed/secret group for everyone who is going to have bypass surgery in February 2016!

We would LOVE to have you join in wit us! Just go to Facebook and search my name LaNae Davis Petersen, send me a friend request. I can then send you an invite to secret page and then I'll remove you back off my friends list :)

It's meant to be a positive group who we can all be going through the same things at the same tim on this journey! The goals will be to provide support, bounce questions off each other, have somewhere safe to share on the days that aren't so great, and share our victories on this journey!

MOST importantly it's all confidential, unless you are in this group people can't see the group, who's in it or what the posts are.

I'm confused, how in the world did a post from 2003 pop up on this board I started last year?

  2. @@Salonboi I had gastric bypass on Oct 1st, 2015... I was about 425 before the 2-week preop liquid diet and was down to 404 lbs the morning of surgery. So about 100lbs lost since the morning of surgery 4 months ago. Doing well, still losing, but it's starting to slow I think. Wife and I went to Boston earlier this month for a hockey tournament for my son... didn't lose anything over those 5 days. There was a whole foods across the street from the hotel, so most meals we swung by there and I'd get 3/4 to a cup of salad or their premade cold salad... I have a feeling the premade salads were a little heavy on fat/sugar and thus calories. Anyhow, since then things have been much more routine, and the scale has been moving slightly again. I think this next week is when I'm going to start with the strength training to hopefully maintain any of my muscle mass and increase my metabolism.

Amazing progress.... That 4 month mark is exactly the same time I noticed the slowdown.. I would go a week or two after that and lose nothing, but then all of a sudden 10lbs gone in a week. So sounds like you are exactly on track. Us bigger guys drop major poundage, quick!! Pretty soon they will be calling ya skinny and I hope you aren't planning on losing anymore weight lol.. It can be somewhat annoying, as I'm like how do you know what my body should do weight wise.. Are you able to take the constant compliments well? That was a tough one at first for me, as I felt it was constantly pointing out my failure to myself.. But now I've learned how to except it.. But for me, I had to come up with my response, and rehearse it, so I had something to say back.. It helped me focus on the compliment and then I moved on to next subject lol.. I wish you continued success.. I'm assuming you are from Michigan? I'm originally from Grand Rapids. Most of my family still there..

  3. http://healingafterbariatricsurgery.com/ Please check out my brand new blog!!! It's still in the very begginnig stages, but will progress into a wealth of information.. And if anyone wants to share links, or guest blog please inbox me.. I'd love to talk...

Any updates? I had the sleeve and in 7 months I've lost 142 lbs. So I would like to compare that to your bypass. I've head that you lose more with bypass. Congrats!
Congratulations on your success!!! Sorry, I own a hair salon, so from October to beginning of January, life is crazy crazy busy. So I've not been on here in awhile... I'm down 150lbs in 7 months.. Weight loss has slowed way down, but I'm not complaining.. I'm finally in the 100's now, 198 as of yesterday.. I wish you continued success.. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByBariatricPal1454071356.487491.jpg

Congrats! Those pictures are awesome. My weight loss slowed and stopped, mainly because I got addicted to nuts and Peanut Butter. However, I'm back on track and loosing 1-2 lbs a day now. Lost 156 lbs in less than 9 months and should be in my 100s in a few weeks. I'm crossing my fingers I will be at goal by my 1 year anniversary. Keep us updated!

What amazing progress, keep up the good work!!!! Yeah those nuts will get ya lol... Same happened to me!!!! I'm not even obsessing about a goal weight anymore. I'm so close to what I thought I wanted, but am very happy with where I'm at now. I think my goal weight might be a little to thin for my frame. Words I never thought I'd say lol. I'll just have to go with the flow... Keep up the good work and definitely post pictures soon.. That's if you wanna of course lol

  7. Hi all

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. I have been doing well, too well in fact haha. I've lost over 200 lbs and my Dr wants me to stop losing and drink high calorie shakes.

So to go back, 3 week after surgery i had that contained leak and was doing better after that, then I got cdiff which was caused by all the antibiotics they gave me in the hospital. That was a pain, alot of diarrhea so they gave me more antibiotics lol and I also took Prebiotic and ate yogurt and took t ok me to get back to normal. I should say during this whole time I had no appetite at all and had to force myself to eat. The loss of appetite is caused by the cdiff. So in the beginning of September I was getting my appetite back but slowly and this is why I think I lost so much weight so fast. Also during this time my gout kicked in big time and my Dr said I could take naproxen but limited and I also take allopurinol. Well I only had taken 3 naproxen over three weeks then they changed it to celebrex. So in November I was wanting to eat more, I couldnt. I could only eat soft foods or Soup. Mr Dr ordered and upper endoscopy and found the stoma had closed half way due to the nsaids. So they were able to open it back up at the same time and boy does it feel good to be able to eat better. The Dr thinks it might be closing again and to stop the celebrex. The reason why I was still on it was the Dr said that even though it's an nsaid it delivers it in a different way than normal nsaid are in the body. But it should be an easy fix again. Anyway haha that's how I've been, not a bad time. So any good suggestions on high calorie Protein Shakes? Any questions please ask. Haha hope you all are doing well too. :)

It's been forever since I've been on myself... So sorry you had those problems.. So glad to see such wonderful progress..

  8. Today is first time I've weighed myself and didn't have a loss.

I'm 4 months post op and have lost every week since surgery. But not this week. Uh-oh is what I'm thinking, and panic is setting in.

Why didn't I lose ? What did I do different? Is this it , now back to the old struggles? Of course I am not able to eat large amounts of food but my appetite is slowly returning and that really scares the you know what out of me.

This thread has been really quiet , hope everyone is well.

I've had several stalls on my 4 month journey.. One was a two weeker ???? I've noticed if I'm in a stall, upping my calories has made a difference.. Sometimes of course lol

@@nancynew, I can relate to your struggle, for sure. i think around the 14th week i had a stall. It totally freaked me out, as you have related. I increased my workouts in panic. The next week I had a double loss. In hindsite I truly doubt that the loss was workout related, and more a stage my body was going through.

@@Salonboi, Jaysen, you are doing so fantastic! 111lbs, WOW! Congrats on your continued hardwork paying off.

As for me, I am down into the "overweight bmi's" can't believe I'm no longer obese? Im the smallest Ive been in years, even wearing a size 10. Seems crazy.

But, I have been truly suffering in agony and pain for about 12 hours now. I think the root cause is my own stupidity, in eating 3/4 of an orange yesterday. I just can't think what else would cause this. It was the only thing different in my food plan yesterday. and let me tell you, I won't be making that mistake again! Praying for relief, soon.

Thank you ❤️ it's definitely been a journey!!! I hope you are feeling better now!!! I've had a few moments like that, and man alive it sucks!!!! Congratulations on your loss!! Sounds like you are doing an amazing job as well!!! Glad to hear a progress report!! 12. I have my first cold since surgery and of all things I am craving some of my good old comfort foods! Anyone else gone through this yet? A Frosty from Wendy's is calling my name... Any replacement suggestions?

I have a machine called a Yonanas machine, it turns frozen fruit into ice cream.. I froze Sugar Free Chocolate fudge pudding in ice cube trays, and ran it through the machine, and it tastes so much like a Wendy's frosty!!! I'm not even kidding...

  13. I just moved to a new state for a new job. I am anxious about finding a new surgeon to follow me. Hoping that my new insurance will allow me to chose one-if I can find one! I saw my surgeon right before I moved and everything was fine, but now I will need to wait until my new insurance kicks in in September. Ugh-lots of changes at once. Hoping all is well...Thanks for listening!! :)

Good luck on finding your new surgeon!!!!

  14. It's that time again.

    Progress pictures.

My three month surgiversary is TOMORROW!!!

I can't believe how far I've come in such a short span of time.

    HW: 330

    CW: 261

    Total weight loss: 69 pounds.

    And of course there's PICTURES!!!

I went from a size 22-24 to a size 16-18 and being able to fit into a size L-XL shirt/dress down from a size 3X.

I am off all medications :)

I'm 21 years old, happy, thankful, but most importantly HEALTHY!

Congrats on your loss!!!!! It feels so good doesn't it!!!

  15. So I had my 3 month check up with surgeon last week. Had blood work done a week before seeing doctor

Results of blood work were perfect with the exception being my prealbumin levels ( this is Protein levels, for those who may not know )

Doctor says this is a little low. No surprise, I expected my protein to be low Still a struggle to get in all in

But , a little low is better then TOO low.

    Total weight lose 54.8lbs.
