Well SHOOT!! I typed all of my stuff and lost it!! I have heard people say that my WLS didn't work. I don't totally agree with this. But like was said it is the choices that we make. Now the Lap Band failing I have 1st hand in knowing about. As you see my hubby had his for 13 years. He lost 100#'s with it but never met his goal. Yes, he did eat around it but it also was damaged during a fill, more surgery. Then in 2013 he went in for a revision to a RNY. It had eroded into his liver. Failed surgery. Then he got abscesses. Was deathly sick for 9 months 3 of which he doesn't remember. His Surgeon dropped him in the middle of his treatment, told him to go to his PCP or the ER. But hubby was so desperate he went back to this Dr again. Then he told him that he was a PROBLEM CHILD and he wouldn't do the surgery. He referred him to Portland, Oregon OHSU one of the best Bariatric Centers. They said they would try to do the RNY but he needed to lose 25#'s and get his A1C down to a 7 or 8. Which doesn't sound to hard right. He couldn't do both, if his Blood Sugar was good his weight went up and the same for his weight down BS up. In the mean time we find out he has Kidney Cancer but there is nothing they can do until he loses 150#. So down to Mexico self paid surgery. When they get in there he couldn't do the Rny because his whole right side is solid scar tissue so he gets the SLEEVE. This was June 3, 2016 to this day he has lost 60#'s. So pardon me when I say it isn't always easy to get another WLS. It makes me so mad when I hear someone say well, I'll jus ge a revision if it doesn't work out. We don't always get what we want. Now I'm not saying he did everything he could to lose his weight but darn the problems his weight has caused us!!! So I guess I'm saying in some cases yes a revsion is in order but if it is just because THE WLS didn't work, then they do need to go thru more counseling to make sure that their mind is on what needs to be done!!

Well, I know you need work but...looks like to me that you have the ability to go forward. Like I said your mind is thinking straight because you came to get help and not just jumping into it. Like myself I was always what I cal B***S to the wall or nothing. This has been a part of me forever. Like so many on hear I had TRIED everything I was very successful losing the weight but no way could maintain it for long. Up untl I decided that I WAS DONE!! The 1st Dr I seen treated me like I was stupid and lied about my not smoking for 8 yrars, he then told me that he would do a nicotine test and because I had Psoriases he would only do a Lap Band. My hubby had his for 13 yars and lost 100#'s then it malfunctioned thats another story. LOL So when I went to an Bariatric surgeon for his band removal. They told me that they could do the RNY. Which I felt that had one chance left!! I took it. I figured that I needed to go big or go home. I had my surgery and lost 134#'s but went really lower than even my team wanted. I did develope an ADVERSION to food due to having strictures and having 5 endoscopes wtih 4 dialations, starting 3 months after my surgery and went until Jan 2015. Al is great now. Besides my stress making me want to eat more than I should. But I have been very lucky that my mind has changed along with my weight loss. It is NOT the cure all for sure and it takes hard work with commitment to do it. I think due to my hard time begining after surgery has been my saving grace plus exercise. For the entire time since my WLS up to the last couple months I exercised at first 6 days a week until I became physically sick if I missed one day. But now I am having a hard time getting back at it. I KNOW I have it in me to continue my journey. I hope this helps and I want to say that support is almost a have to in this. Sorry I wrote a book. LOL Take care and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

It is defintly a IT IS WHAT IT IS process. I know everyone of us get nervous about it all. We are just tuned that way. After diet after diet and losing the same weight over and over it is a hard obstacle to overcome!!! Trusting the process is hard for sure!! BTW I have decided to confront my DR about what she did the last time I seen her. I only go to her mostly for my pain management. I use FENTYOL Patches and she maid me take a UA every month at first, then it was every time I seen her, up until the last 6 months and she didn't even have me do one. She maid me feel like I am a DRUG SEEKER!! Even if I have to start using Medical Marijuna (which is totally legal here in Oregon) and be taken off my patches I am willing to find another DR. I don't trust her now. If she gabs at work about her PT who else is she talking to. One of the biggest draw backs of using Marijuna is it makes me HUNGRY!!! I actually feel like I can eat the paper of the wall. I can't smoke it because I'm afraid it will make me start smoking again. Oh such sorry. LOL TRUST yourself to do what is best for you!! We are all WINNERS in this game.

I HATE SCALES!!! All those years that I felt so humiliated getting on the darn things. Weight Watchers, TOPS NUTRSYSTEM more than 2 or more times. Dr. Appointments. I HATE scales did I say that before? LOL But after my RNY it was exciting to weigh 1 time a week. Always on Monday morning. I found out that I can refuse to weigh when I go to the DR, so guess what it has kept me off the scales for 9 months at least. Until the last appointment, she asked me to weigh!! NOPE I told her I would next appointment. I know I am still maintaining between 125 & 130. I JUST HAVE PANIC ATTACKS ABOUT THOSE DARN SCALES!! I'm sorry I got off the wall about them!! I would just say weigh 1 time a week and at ur DR's

Hang tight. I know how hard it is to be doing everything you were told. S*** Happens!! Just stay on your program it will come off. I just looked at your stats, Our starting weight is almost the same. I had my RNY 5 years ago. My beginning weight was 249#'s I am 5ft 4 inches. I lost 124#'s. I reached my goal weight in 6 months but...I had problems with Strictures ( kind of like scar tissue) I had 5 Endoscopes with 4 dialations. I believe that is why I lost my weight so fast. CONGRADULATIONS!!! You are doing great. Remember everyone loses their weight differently. Stay the course and it will happen for you.

Hi, you said it right, We do flash right back to our OLD DIET thinking. I doubted it so bad I also was afraid to up my calories. I developed a ADVERSION to food after my RNY. First I tried getting help with a Pysychologist about it all. She had no idea. She had never worked with WLS Peeps. Finally, I talked to my Surgeon about it. He suggested I go to the Nutritionist. Now you would think because she was involved with the process of getting to the surgery, that she would know her stuff. Anyway, she weighed me first (I had lost below the weight my DR wanted me to be) I weighed 117#'s. Mind you I was getting scared due to strictures AND I was vomiting almost with everything I ate. Do you know what she told me to do? Eat every 1/2 hour that I was awake!! Niow you are talking to someone that is SCARED to death to up my calories!! I just knew I would gain my weight back!! Another thing I still struggle with is stepping on the scales!! I started going to a new PCP, because my regular DR retired Dang it!! I have been going to her for 9 months and I do HATE to admit this I have refused to weigh since the one time when I started seeing her. I know I am OK because I go by clothes. She cornered me at my last appointment. I did say I would weigh at my next appointment. But here is the corker, she thought I had left and I heard her talking about me with her personnel at me!! I am a little P***ed, what is patient confidentially!! She must have seen me because she stopped in mid sentence. I don't know maybe I am just being thin skinned. I don't know. What do you all think?

Just a hint...I am 5 years out from my RNY, to this day I have what I call "My food Rituals" with that being said Let me explain...I had BIG Problems with STRICTURES. I had 5 Endoscopes starting in Nov 2013. Every couple months I had to have another one done. Finally, I went to a different Bariatric Center. Jan 2015 was my last stricture. If your mom keeps having this problem you might want to ask her Surgeon about getting it check out. Not wanting to add more stress on you both. You must be your own best friend!!

    HannahRB,
I have had a few bouts with depression before my RNY, I should say I wasn't on any medications. I was always able to get over the few times I became depressed it was easy to pull myself back up and continue. Since my WLS, I started having anxiety bad. Like would have to leave the store or try to run to get stuff leaving my hubby to do his own stuff. I couldn't handle people standing in my way and I would think I HAVE to get this stuff done. I have a hard time getting out and going anywhere. So, I bite the bullet and talked to my PCP. She started me on a small dose of Paxil and guess what it was just enough to help me out of my worries. I still struggle some what but it has helped me out big time!! So, I guess what I am saying is just beware of your feelings and don't be afraid to ask for help. We go thru many changes afterwards, and we all know this can become serious very fast. But...it can be handled with ease. Good Luck

I would like to know if you had any other weight loss surgeries or not? Is this a way to get back on your program or is it just to help you lose the weight? You seemed to do well. I had my RNY 3 years ago and I have been successful in keeping off my weight but my hubby just had a Sleeve done and he isn't losing his weight near as fast as I feel he would have with the RNY. His mind hunger is totally taking him down!!! Thank you in advance

WOW!!! This is so sad!! You have worked so hard to get the weight off and now you have all of this coming up. I wish I had so kind info to share but....I really don't. Just realize you are SUCCESSFUL with your WLS. I can offer what worked for me and quitting smoking. I have quit at least 4 times. One time I quit for 20 years and when my daughter moved out at 18. (she did move in with her boyfriend) So I do have lots of experience with smoking and quitting. The last time I quit with CHANTEX (this has been 10years ago) and let me say I have no want to's!! It was amazing. They say you can use it for 3 months, but I didn't take it just for 1 month. I never looked back!! It works!! I don't want to come off as I am preaching to you and with every thing you are going thru you might think that smoking is the lesser evil. Again I am so sorry.
