    Bullied

HON!! NO ONE and I do mean noone has the right to bully you!! Stand up for your rights. Just prove her wrong. You can do this!! Has she had weight loss surgery? If not she has no clue!! People can be so ignorant at times.

Can’t drink protein shakes! Post op

I use GENEPRO unflavored protein. I know some don't like it but I use it daily. I would never get it all in otherwise. I put it in my Coffee everyday. It has no taste at all. And 30grams. I had searched high and low for something I can handle. I would hate to know exactly how much $$ I have spent. I got tired of everything sweet. Good Luck

    Portion Control

Man O Mighty!! I love this guy!! I wish he would have been my Surgeon!! Smart Guy!! Thanks for posting his link. Very interesting for sure!! Noone has taken the time t explain things like him. I was shocked when he said the "F" bomb. LOL

    Portion Control

They have these awesome plate dividers. You can get them on Amazon. They even have them for different weights. Like maybe your goal weight etc. My hubby has one. I couldn't use them because I don't have enough room after eating my protein. But that is just me. Good Luck

It's fun to play at the YMCA!

I have one thing to say!!! RUN don't go skating!! I cracked my tailbone trying to learn to skate. Ugly Ugly!! I do believe that was the worse pain!!
  8. For me it was eating right not stuffing myself (I'm not gonna lie I have and will have bad days) I try my hardest to get in enough of Protein/water. I have exercised since I had my RNY. At first I walked 6 days a week. But it did get under my skin. If I missed even 1 day it thru me into a tail spin!! I am extremely proud of myself for continuing my exercise. I still have great restriction. I feel like I am in a pretty good place now. I'm not going to say my mind hasn't played lots of mind games. I am still terrifed that I will be one of those stastics that I have gained back all or most of my weight again. I think I knew and felt like this was my last chance to get it off and keep it off. I really don't have much magic. Stay focused and if you slip pick yourself up and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!
  9. Yes it is so much better now. I really wonder if I had not had the problems, if I would have still lost my weight in 6 months. HHHMM I'm not sure on that one.
  10. Congrats!!! Sounds like everyone had a WIN WIN!! That is exactly what me DR said, learn to eat with moderation. That there are no forbidden foods. If I thought that I would never be able to eat something again, That would totally mess with my mind!! I have always had a slight rebellous nature. Never tell me NO or I can't have or do anything. LOL That is exactly whe I will work to prove them wrong!! Not very good having it when I was younger. LOL
  11. Sshelton0313, Well right off the bat I had to do Protein drinks for 4 weeks after my RNY. I also had problems with Strictures and had 5 Endoscopes with 4 Dialations. which started in Sept 2013, Nov 2013 , Dec 2013, Jan2014, July 2014 with my last being Jan 2015. I was very limited in what I could eat or even drink at times. I ate a lot of beans, cheese, tamales (note that I could never eat the whole thing of any of it)burritos, cottage cheese and oatmeal. I still can only eat 1/2 of a boiled egg. I just started to even eat bread within the last few months and only 1 slice. Very small amount of rice but not often. Whatever I eat is just a small amount at a time. Before I had my surgery my Dr and my Nutrtionist both told me that there are no forbidden foods, that I must learn to eat in MODERATION. My exercise is walking. I started right after I left the hospital. I had to stay in a MOTEL for 1 week because I lived 100 miles away from the Dr and Hospital. I walk around every day 2 to 3 times a day. I can now say that I have been pretty dilagent about my exercise. I now walk 3 to 4 times a week and go 3 to 4 miles each time. As I said above follow everything your Dr says be consistant and Keep your eyes on the prize!! Also KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! Good Luck.

    Help!

Welcome to WLS. They call the spit that we do as the FOAMIES. I am 4 and 1/2 years out and I just now can do 1/2 an egg in a salad. I always lie on my left side and eat PAPAYA ENZYMES 100% natual and cheap too. They have saved me more than once. Good Luck
  13. I am right there beside you. I have been on almost every diet known to man!! I have lost many many pounds but lacked the stickim to it to maintain. Since my RNY I have lost weight and maintained my 124# loss for 4 years. Which I would have never ever in this lifetime been able to maintain any amount of weight loss. Yes this is a tool and yes it does make you stronger!! But we still have and had to work for it. You my friend are not alone in this battle, I will bet most everyone that you talk too will tell you the same thing. Follow everything your DR and Nutrition tells you and you will be successful. Hang tight this is one of the best journey you have been on. Good Luck

One month post op and feeling nauseous

Hi, I have always had a great sniffer but since my RNY MY smell and my taster have been over the top!! I use to love garlic and onions and I couldn't tolerate them for the longest time. In fact within the last 6 or so months. So sad but oh so true. I hope things work out for you. It can seem like it takes forever to get used to it all over.

    Shingles

Nope my DR doesn't think I need the BETTER vaccine. She said insureance is hard pressed to pay for it. I might just try again.
  16. shedo82773

    Shingles

WOW!! This MAMA can relate totally!! I have had Shingles 2 times, one right after the other. I did finally convince my PCP to ok the shot, which I did have but as was said above it isn't the good one. I could more than likely get the new shot if I pushed for it, But I think I wil wait until I am a little older. I'm 61 but I will try to wait. It is very painful for sure. I had my DR in Weiser Idaho (he didn't tell me but) he put it down as if I had Herpes. So I got it for free. I was so mad at him!! I would have paid 100's before being labeled like that. BTW my Shingles broke out to to my FIBROMYLGIA and my stress level.

Will I ever be warm again?

HHHMM Welcome to WL life!! LOL I am 4 and 1/2 years out and my first 4 years I FROZE to death. I also sleep with a fan. So I know his game. LOL I am still colder than I ever was before my weight loss. I have a blanket I use while watching tv. But I also have a fan in the living room for the times that my SLEEVED hubby has the heat p to 70-71. I always use to say that when fat gets cold it is cold!! But I have since figured out even being at my normal weight I get sooo cold!! Stay warm!! Sleep with your electric blankets and snuggle up to your lil heater.

Do not put off getting help

So TRUE!! We can figure out when something isn't right. I'm sorry that you are having to do all of this. My hubby also had the Lap Band and it eroded into his Liver. It was a huge mess and he almost died, it took him 10 months to heal. He had 5 different strains of bacteria in his stomach. It was HORRIBLE!!! He was so sick he didn't even know what he was doing or saying. I am so glad all is well now. He did finally get the Sleeve in June of 2016. (he got sick in Sept of 2013) What a mess!! Good Luck and remember take care of YOU!!!

    Gas Pain :(

I love PAPAYA ENZYMES. They help with the gas and aids in digestion. They are 100% natural. But before you use them please ask your Dr. The great thing about them is they cost less than $5.00 at WALMART. I have used them all thru my Weight loss. I didn't have gas to bad after my surgery but if I eat certain things I get it big time, Milk is a real bad one for me. Even if I have a small piece of milk chocolate it swells my tummy out like a drum. LOL

    Ever heard of riced cauliflower??

I LOVE the rice Cauliflower. We made pork fried rice with it. Even my hubby (who is the master at making fried rice) said it was good. I also just remembered that I have a bag of Cauliflower tater tots I need to try. HHMM Might have to have them for dinner.
  21. Like you said you are very new out from your Surgery. It will get better, I know that isn't much help but hang tight. You will find your balance. The thrist was the hardest or me too. hate to be thristy. I would much prefer no food to no water. I know that is what I will be tested on in our final days. LOL Only giving me a drip at a time will drive me bonkers. As for gas, I have something that has helped me sooo much. Tey are natural and have saved my life more than once. PAPAYA ENZYMES. They cost less than $5.00 at Walmart. I won't tell you to take them before u check with your DR but like I said 100% natural and cheap too. WIN WIN for me!! Like I said u will figure out what works for u. If u like cottage cheese it has pretty good protein in it. I take strawberry sugar free jelly put it in my cottage cheese. It taste like strawberry cheesecake. YUMMY. On ACCORDING TO EGGFACE on Pintrest has lots of different recipes. I made the RICCOTA BAKE recipe on there. It is very soft and u can blend it if you need too. My hubby really liked it. So keep trying different things until you can get yourself built up to eating the different foods. I'm 4 and 1/2 years out and I have foods that I can NOT eat. I also have certain foods that I eat over and over again. Kind of like my rituals. Take care and I hope everything works out. Have a great one

    Adhesions

YES I did. I was told that I ha Strictures. Basically scar tissue that was closing off the opening I couldn't even hold down water. I had 5 Endoscoes wit 4 Dialtons. I had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I had my first endo Nov 2013, Dec 2013 and Jan of 2014 next one July 2014 and my last one was Jan 2015. It is great now but man o mighty it was so bad. I vomited all night and day. I even vomited my sleeping pills the next morning whole. They never went down. So your dr did open surgery? That surprises me you must have had a lot of scar tissue. I feel for you!! If my stomach feels a little weird it scares me and I always think the strictures are back. I'm very sorry that you are going thru this. For Sure!! Your weight loss is great!! But I know from experiences if you don't feel good it is hard to enjoy anything else. Please take care of you and I hope everything works out ok. Good Luck
  23. Oh cbf, I know how disappointing that is. My hubby went thru some terrible stuff. He had the Lap Band for 13years. It malfunctioned and he went in to have it removed along with his gallbladder. Then he was going to be revised to the RNY. (his age was 63) The Lap Band had eroded into his liver so they took out the Band and gallbladder then closed him up. The Surgeon told him that in 3 months they would do the RNY. Well, he became deathly sick and he really almost died. He had 5 infections in his stomach 2 of which we all have in our bodies at all times and 3 that he contacted from surgery. He was sick for 10 months and we thought he wasn't going to make it. He still after 5 years has not got all his strength back. So fast forward on June 2, 2016 we go to Juarez, Mexico because we finally fired the Surgeon that did both of our WLS. We paid cash out of pocket over $11,000.00 And still he didn't get what he wanted, The RNY he ended up getting the Sleeve. His weight loss hasn't been over the moon but as we all know it is a tool and we have to put in the work to make it happen. he does great for some and not so good at times. I didn't want to go so much but just wanted to welcome you also. I had a RNY and I have done much better with it than my hubby's SLeeve. I am so grateful for my RNY. It was very dishearting as I am sure you know 1st hand. , I had my RNY at the age of 56. And he had his Sleeve at 63. Take care of you!! I hope everything works out for you!! Did your DR tell u how long it would be before they do your surgery? Hang Tight
  24. Congrats on continuing your journey. I know the roller coaster for sure but once you are done with the surgery part you are going to kick some weight's B$$$

    Hello - New Here!

Congratulations on starting your journey!! It will all be great!! Follow your guidelines and do what your Surgeon and Nutritionist says. You will be ok. BTW our STATS are pretty close. I am 5.4 and I lost 124#'s. Here are my beginning and ending weights. HW 249#'s SW 232 LW 117 CW 125 to 130. I went below my goal weight in 6 months but I had problems with strictures (kind of like scar tissue built up closing my opening) I have maintained my weight with in 5 or so #'s for 4 years. I know you are having the Sleeve so I really can't say much about that. But all WLS are a tool, we stll have to do the work. It is so WORTH IT!! I look forward to following your journey. Good Luck
