I don't remember seeing you on here before but then I have been rather scarce! I wish you a speedy recovery when you do get the surgery. I think I read you will have it on Dec. 21? I haven't looked at your statistics but will soon. Best of luck on your journey!

I was given a 0.4 fill today so it brings me up to 2.6 I believe. I am starving at 10:00 PM. Had the fill at 2 today. He said to try the level and if I am too tight come back in for an unfill and they would squeeze me in. He is so nice..! I have to come back Oct. 12 3:45. Also have a lab appt. Oct. 5 --8:30 am. Don't miss that one...Fasting is important! 159.1 lbs. Up one pound from last time. Oh crap! We have discovered beautiful biking trails in Crosby that are paved and run along a couple of lakes and we took a ride a couple weeks ago (6 miles we rode.) Also have loaded the basement with firewood for the coming months. Weekend is to be pretty cold for Sept. rainy too.

Thanks Terasita for the encouragement! We never did make the six mile trek but probably did 4 miles. It is cold now but I did join the Community Center and have been doing water aerobics 2 to 3 times a week. I might start going twice a day those days that they have the classes. I need to kick up my efforts in the winter time. I hope you are doing well!

On Keith Olberman tonight, he told of the Air Force Times, and other military papers on Monday.. An editorial will be asking for the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld because of the terrible decisions he and the administration have made. This is unheard of in a newspaper of this sort. Military members are not supposed to speak against this or anything else. Opinions are not allowed to be spoken or written. What do you all think of that? I am amazed! Watch for news of this on Monday. Should be interesting! A real knee slapper!!!!

Carlene, I believe in instinct so much. Glad you did not let the others dissuade you from that intuitive feeling. I always think that of those who have the odd interest in other people's kids. You saved your own kids from a very sad childhood. So sad/bad the others did'nt see it. People... take heed! Is this always true? Of course not...Do you think it is worth the risk? Hell no!

A blousey blouse in silky polyester with a velvet or satin vest or bustier (corset) over it. Buy a fabric grommet set and tie a ribbon between the two corseted vest sides. Just sew/glue the fronts back behind the bodice. Vests are easy to come by at Goodwill or even Walmart right now. Wear a too tight bra so the overflow is ample (unless it wouldn't be proper at work) The look can be pirate or (dressy) courtesan look depending on the choice of fabric.

:clap2: I just got brave enough to try it over the past weekend and it is now history...I am so happy not to have to wear a mask at night. Any of the styles hurt my nose and/or mouth. I lost 50 lbs before I was fairly confident that I could attempt a night without the CPAP. What a glorious feeling that is! Good Luck!

The Minnesota site has never been very active but can be livened up if you care to talk...? Questions? Where are you in Minnesota? Had surgery? Hospital? Preference of surgery? Doctor? I had surgery In February in Crosby. Talk to me if you want to....

Flouroscopy allows the doctor to visually see the port and there is less guess work and also they can watch the fluid go through the band. Without the Flouro they are feeling for the port and I have had as many as three needle probes to get the port. Aside from those the cost can be significantly different. If you are self-pay that could really hurt the pocketbook. The flouro also shows the band position so they may see if it is tilted or maybe even eroded. I have to say that the 'blind' (non flouro) are really not that bad. I had three flouro fills but have had blind fills since those first 3. Even when they probed 3 times it was tolerable for me. Not fun just tolerable! Do not be too concerned about it. The person doing the fill knows which may be best for you.

I guess I am a thread killer! Sorry but this story needed to be told!

:think :think :think :think :think My mother as we were growing up after every meal we would hear her in the bathroom throwing up. She was and is a glutton. (That was back in the early 50's through the nineties.) We thought she had a bad stomach, but since have figured out it was bulimia but then it didn't have a name. She would eat so much then purge everyday. Couldn't have been figured out by kids. In 1996 she had a very bad heart attack and required bypass (FIRST SURGERY)which is usually fairly routine these days. After she was released from the hospital she called me the next evening and said please come over..I hurt so bad in my back I just can't stand it. Anyway, I called the Dr. and he said get her into the hospital immediately. I did and after having her breast bone sawn in two the breast bone instead of mending back together had died. She had necrosis of the sternum. They had to remove the bone (SECOND SURGERY) and then after that..which took a very long time that evening. They wheeled her into the hospital room after her recovery time. I stayed with her so the rest of my family could go back to their jobs and during that morning everytime she moved slightly in that bed...blood flowed copiously from the wound that they left open since it had to heal from the inside out. When a change of nurses came on duty she came in when I called them to change the bedlinens for the unpteenth time she asked me how long the bleeding had been going on and it had been all day. She looked at the chart and realized they kept pumping blood into her and it was leaking directly out of the heart. Someone had punctured her heart during the surgery or after when they debrided (sp) the dead tissue that morning after surgery. DON'T FORGET THIS IS HER THIRD SURGERY! She has since 'recovered' but she is among the living dead. She lives to eat and has senility that makes her very forgetful and nasty to all of the family. She genuinely wishes she were dead. Anyone interested in living like that?... keep on eating and you too could be one of the living dead. I wish this story wasn't true but it is and very heartbreaking to all of us. Any questions or disbelief? I swear to God it is the reality of our lives and hers! Ask a heart surgeon if you don't believe this can and does happen! I beg everyone to read and heed...She has lived this way since 1996. People it is 2006. A long and unhappy 'Life'. By the way, I weighed more than her at the time of her 'pseudo death'. PS: FOURTH SURGERY In 2002 she had an episode of what we all thought was gall stones...Nope! She was opened up and her gallbladder could not be removed because it and her liver had grown together and had turned into what the doctor described as woody like. Never was a drinker so it was not from being an alcoholic. I am guessing that he was calling it cyrhosis of the liver. She is still among the 'living' with that problem.
