I accidentially typed the wrong date of March 25th on my prior post. Note to self: look at what you typed before you submit post.
Anyway, I live in Plano Texas and Dr. Nick Nicholson is doing my sleeve/hernia surgery on Tuesday the 24th of March.
The process has gone quickly..my first appointment was only about a month ago. I am nervous and excited at the same time.

Why would you let someone like her threaten your success? You've come so far. Now that your secret is out, maybe it's time you just own it and be proud of your decision.

Definitely didn't mean to offend by telling anyone not to say anything. I am just searching for a far more complex explanation to something that so many make seem so simplistic. I love when people who have issues with a post respond anyway.

When you get your old clothes out of storage that are 4 sizes smaller (12's vs. 18's), and they not only fit.......some are too big!

When your co-worker tells you that you need to go buy smaller scrubs... and the ones you're wearing are the smaller scrubs you bought a month ago!

YESSS!!! This happened to me this morning. I buttoned up a size 16 1/2 shirt and it was too big. (I used to wear an 18.5.) So I moved it to the back of the closet and put on a 15.5. This is freakin' awesome!!!

As a corollary.... When you don't waste time driving around the parking lot looking for a closer space, because it's faster (and healthier) to grab a farther space and walk in. Furthermore.... When you run upstairs to get something – whenever you need it – rather than waiting until you have a bunch of reasons to climb that mountain. Okay, one more.... When you compare the weight you've lost to other heavy things -- I've lost just about 3 bags of mulch! I mean, think about that... I'd have trouble picking up two bags of mulch, let alone three. Imagine carrying three bags of mulch everywhere you go, including upstairs! Ouch!!! And freakin' YAY!!!

Some could take 14 business days or even up to 30 days. I would call none the less. My dr kept saying they hadn't heard back but I called ins and found out it had been approved for like 2 weeks

June 24th, here.... Glad to report that I'm down 114 pounds, and 3 below my initial goal of 154 – which is one pound into my "normal" BMI range. I've set a stretch goal of 145-148 as my permanent range to try and avoid ever going back over my goal number. I have to say that this journey has really been fun! But now, as the honeymoon period ends, the compliments and new clothing sizes dry up, and the long-haul work begins, I hope it will continue to at least be satisfying. I'm proud of my success, and the collective success of our June 2014 family. If we keep working at it, it will keep paying off. Good luck, everyone!!!

Keeping it from teenagers and lying about where you will be??? BAD IDEA on so many levels. First, it tells them you don't trust their confidentiality, second it tells them it's ok to lie and cover things up. There's more but I think these are enough.
Mine are a little older at 19 and 22 and what I did was talk to them about my journey and how I came to this decision. I also asked for them to keep it confidential as I just didn't want to talk about it to everyone and told them who knew. My older one who is a complete extrovert and tells all, did not tell anyone. It was to be kept just "among us." My kids liked the idea that they were being told and trusted with privileged information.
Also, I would say it is impossible to hide your eating after surgery and frankly I don't see why you would want to. You need their support and cheerleading. If one day you are just sipping broth and losing weight, they're either going to think you are on some weird diet or have a terrible disease.
    Good luck!

Make sure you get all your Protein in to. I hear too much Vitamin A can make you lose hair. I am lucky so far out six months and my hair is not
Falling out. I take Biotin and use nioxin Shampoo. Take my Vitamins and make sure I get my protein in. I am scared to death to lose my hair. Mine seems to be getting thicker. Just goes to show you that my diet must have really stunk before surgery. I am sure I wasn't getting enough protein ore surgery. As it seems I was losing more hair before surgery. As I pretty much lived in sweet stuff that I baked. Cakes, Cookies, pies, bread. I look back now and think.....I was eating myself to death!

Would I do it again? Yes!
What surprises me the most is now that I am almost 2 years post-op how easy it is to regain weight and how difficult it is to lose it again. Even so, I am very grateful to have had the surgery and very happy with the results!

I'd wondered how this feels - the restriction. I'm glad you feel so good so often. Right now (pre-op) I feel so bad so often. I cannot wait to have my knees, back, and feet feel better without the weight. Congrats on your steady losses. :-)

I have been listening to Dr. Duc Vuong's podcast about successful wls patients. He has one of the highest success rates with wls patients in the country. What he says about the one thing that a patient can do to insure success at weight loss and keeping the weight off is to let the overweight food addicted person you once were die. Just let her die. So tonight I lit the candles all over my house....I brought the last alcohol I will drink in a while. I toasted all the coping mechanisms that kept me safe from harm...the fat that kept me unattractive to the men who would abuse me.....the food that made me feel better on cold lonely nights. The thick layer of distance I put between me and the cruelty of the world. And I said goodbye. It is sad, it is hard, I'm not sure how I am going to cope without that protective false self to keep me safe. But she's dead and I am going to let her die. I hope you will all join me in saying "Thank you fat self for all the years of keeping me safe and invisible from the world. But now I'm old enough, strong enough and experienced enough to take care of myself without you."
    Ashes to ashes
    Dust to dust
    Goodbye.
