Be patient. You're just 1 month out from surgery. It will take time to for your stomach to heal. You will have bouts of diarrhea and Constipation so get used to it. You will not lose weight in a steady fashion. Instead, it's like going down the stairs meaning you will pause on a step. Some pauses may last days. Some may last months. Just be patient.

For no reason whatsoever? Really? I think losing over 200 lbs is a heck of a good reason for the surgery. Perhaps I didn't phrase it correctly. I only need to lose 10 more lbs. So should I go back to low-carb or should I continue doing what I'm doing now as I'm still losing weight and even though I do eat junk, not junk all the time, but definitely not low carb anymore.

I'd up the carbs a little at a time, if I were you. Do you know how many you were consuming before you fell off the wagon? I'd maybe up it 5-10 g, see what that does, up it again, etc until you find the sweet spot.
I can't do zero carbs. I don't even want to. I do limit carbs but without carbs, I can barely think. I need to think to function. I've gradually increased mine and I feel great.

I know our brains want the carbs. I know on the low-carb/high-Protein diet I was slower in responding, slower waking up, and sometimes had had mental fog. I feel way better and more alert when I began eating carbs again. But I was a champion of the low-carb/protein first diet so this is a new area to me.

Well, people get frustrated because when you near your goal your weight loss slows down or even stops. I'm only 10 lbs from my goal and it's hard. So people will try different things to lose those last stubborn pounds. It's okay to experiment with things. For me, the way you lose the weight is unconnected to the sleeve. I view the sleeve more as a tool to help prevent regain. I was eating crap for months and only gained 6 lbs because of my restriction from the sleeve. If I didn't have the sleeve I'm sure that would have been closer to 50 lbs gained.

Maybe your body needs the carbs, but the good ones. See if you can speak with a NUT

More than likely you are incorrect. So many people claim to not have restriction and that they can eat entire steaks and what not, that it can be quite laughable. If you are absolutely sure that you have no restriction then try eating an entire large pizza and keep it down. See if you throw up. Before my surgery I could eat an entire large pizza, bread sticks, salad, and desert. Now, I can only eat one slice and often I only eat the toppings as the crust can be so filling.
There is a very small chance that your surgery was not done correctly. You will have to go to your doctor so they can actually check to see if this is the case or not. The surgery involves the removing of about 80% of your stomach so it would be hard for this to be accomplished yet exhibit no restriction.

I'm sorry but that's total B.S. A woman may give good advice but there's also many women who give horrible advice and who have ulterior agendas. As an adult man we are supposed to be mature enough and wise enough to make our own decisions.

Many doctors will not perform the surgery if you way over 400 lbs. So just look around and see if you can find one will will do it.

The belief that it will stretch your sleeve is nonsense. However, what it can do is cause you pain if you are still close out from your surgery. The pain is of course from gas. I will be one year out tomorrow and I drink diet pop every day. I think I began drinking it again close to 2 months outside of surgery.

People seem to forget that death is always a risk with surgery. Patients who have comorbidities, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, lung problems, etc., are at a greater risk than those who do not have such issues. The risk of death is small for a relatively healthy person. However, every patient needs to be aware of the risks before going into this.

LOL....It's going to be probably months before you will want to engage in this behavior. You are going to have periods of diarrhea and Constipation right after the surgery that may pose extremely embarrassing for you if you attempt it too early. Give it time until after you are "normal" agin, BM wise.

However, occasionally I will read a post from someone that either makes me laugh, roll my eyes or turn bright red in anger. I truly don't understand why some people get the surgery if they aren't willing to make any changes to what they are going to eat. Don't make me laugh about the people that claim they were eating steak just a couple of days outside of surgery!

You don't know what the health of the person is going into surgery. Not every death is from negligence. In fact most surgery-related deaths are natural, part of the risk of having surgery. Simply being obese puts you at a greater risk for dying during surgery. Did you know that? The higher your BMI the greater your risk of death. If you are diabetic or have high blood pressure then your risks for death during or shortly after surgery are even higher. Then again, even healthy people sometimes die in surgery. I've heard of a case of a healthy 20 year old guy who had a heart attack when given anesthesia and died. So this belief that surgery should be 100% safe is simply not correct. Whichever doctor you chose will let you know that there is a risk of death. No doctor can promise you that you will not die or will not experience any complications. There are things you can do to lessen your risk of death. If you are diabetic or have high blood pressure, get it under control before having surgery. Follow the pre-op diet and lose as much weight as possible before surgery. If you plan your surgery for a month or longer into the future don't wait until two weeks before your surgery to start your diet. Start your diet right then and there. The lower your weight at surgery the higher your chance of surviving.

Proud2BMe got a reaction from kcirym2vp@yahoo.com in Can I have bread and if not why?
OP, the thing about carbs is that as long as you allow yourself to eat them you will experience the cravings for them. If you go without eating carbs then amazingly you stop craving them. Instead, you start craving weird food you may have never craved before.
bread is a "trigger food", meaning that it can lead to binge eating. And it does fill you up quite quickly. So can you eat bread? Yes. Should you, well that's your choice to make. Remember, that eating too many carbs, despite whether or not it's approved by your NUT, will sabotage your weight loss.

Proud2BMe got a reaction from sweesee in Regretting the sleeve so much and afraid I will die or have serious problems down the road
If you were going to die you would have most likely died on the operating table. That's when the risk for death is at it's highest. You made it. Relax.
The longer you go out from the day of your surgery the more you will be able to eat.
As far as complications, there's not that many associated with the sleeve. It's by far the safest of the current surgeries. If by chance a complication does develop it normally develops within the first 3 months.
I think you will be fine. Just relax.

The only regret I have is not having this surgery done sooner. I actually feel like I'm finally normal as I'm finally eating normal sized food portions. For example, a normal food portion of pizza is 1 slice. Yet before I would eat an entire large pizza. I truly feel the surgery saved my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
