What do you guys suggest for quick and easy dinners? I'm about 4 months out and single. I usually have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch but need ideas for an actual meal at home. I'm not a fantastic cook so the easier the better!

Thanks! I actually would prefer the prepared food instead of making just because of my own time restraints so this is helpful!

I'm just straight sleeve, I never had the band. And yep, 1 month post op, but still feeling a lot of head hunger and wanting certain foods. Just was curious if any of their info would be helpful.

Definitely go and check it out. Consider going to different meetings at first to experience a variety. OA has helped me with my insane relationship with food and more generally with life.

I went for about 6-8 months and then went back a few times to a different meeting, and I enjoyed it-especially if you can find a strong meeting. I found it very helpful. In fact, I lost the most weight I ever did on my own by attending those meetings. The awesome parts are: the support, the potential friendships, the literature, the different tools you can use to help yourself- phone calls/emails, journaling, etc. You can even get yourself a sponsor, which was awesome. However, it got to be overwhelming when my sponsor wanted me to try making phone calls each day in addition to journaling and talking to her. I would say just be careful to find a good fit for your sponsor if you choose to get one. The 12-step approach can be difficult and a lot of work, but just set boundaries for yourself as far as your time and level of involvement so you don't get overwhelmed like I did. (In my sponsors defense, I was very young and just trying to follow directions/be compliant, and I really didn't talk to her about how I was feeling about the time commitment she was asking of me.) Good luck! I'd say if you're interested you should give it a try

It was a full week before I thought, "yeah, this might not kill me" lol the first week is really rough. Hang in there, it DOES get better...even when it feels like it won't.

you go ahead and cry girl! anesthesia can effect your body and you have just been through a ton of stress and body invasion. Crying helps your body release toxins (kind of like sweating) but also helps relieve emotional stress. I cried a few times as well, my mom just kept telling me, "get it out, don't feel bad, just get it out." I think that's good advise here. Listen and let your body do what it needs to so it can heal.

If you're craving Mexican, try ordering caldo de pollo, minus the rice. The broth is fabulous and tastes like liquid Mexican food.

is it a problem swallowing them or do they make you sick if you swallow? Mine made me sick the first week that I was on Clear Liquids only. My Dr. prescribed zofran for nausea and then advised me to eat a popcicle...take the zofran about halfway thru the popsicle then wait about 15 min and take the pill. I was able to keep it down that way.

ShannonbKSU got a reaction from lynette85 in 1st day back to work!
Well today has been the day folks! School started up again here and I'm back at work. Been interesting that I have gotten hungry WAY more often than when I was just sitting around the house! Had my shake for Breakfast, then needed applesauce about 9 and just ate 2 crackers before lunch at 1145. I wasn't really having any hunger at home even after walking on the treadmill but I guess being up and moving around more burns more energy! interesting!

pepcid is just over the counter. I go back for my first follow up today and it's definitely on my list of things to talk about Was just curious what everyone else was using and doing so I could talk to her better about it.

A prescription strength PPI will work much better than an OTC one. I'm glad you're on top of this and I hope you feel better soon.

Should we set up a Facebook page for all of us around this date so it's easier to stay in touch? Thoughts? I'll set it up if folks are interested.

Noor that was Pakistani beef curry I basically took a Nihari recipe and made it with ground beef instead. We don't eat rice and naan. Instead, I sometimes make zucchini "noodles" and put the curry on that. I have cut down on the dal quite a bit though and sometimes I miss my dal-chawal

If you consider eating Indian food normal that is
So if you're worrying you won't be able to eat or enjoy your food or be normal? Here's what I made for lunch today. Brown rice for the kids, ground beef curry, cucumber/tomato/Greek yogurt salad, palak paneer (spinach. with a homemade cheese). Apart from the rice, all good for us sleevers to eat.
I sometimes see people thinking they won't enjoy food, or that they can only have baked chicken and steamed vegetables. SO not true. I make Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, Greek etc all the time.
What is true however, is that my two kids (23 and 13) and my husband and I all ate--and we finished about a fourth of the food you see here
Feel free to post pics of what you're enjoying today that is sleeve friendly.

I am struggling here as well. And the funny part is I AM a therapist! We don't always have magic answers and it's something that I've tried to overcome many times and failed. I think what's scary for me now is food isn't an option anymore. It was always there if I needed it... But now it's not! Eek!! And Congrats on controlling your alcohol and other dependencies... That means you are strong enough to do this too

Maybe buyers remorse is a bit strong but I'm laying here and I'm head hungry. For Mexican in fact. I'm thinking I want chips and salsa and guacamole dip. Then my emotions are sad bc I can't have those things. Will I ever have them again? Just struggling right now with the huge change and "there's no going back now" thoughts.
