  1. Hello everyone. Everyone seems to be doing pretty great! It's been forever since I have checked in here so here is a little update. Hw 315 SW 295 CW 230 (VSG 1/19) I am currently down 65lbs since surgery! I'm feeling great, yet I wish the weight loss hadn't slowed so much lately, LOL! It gets nerve-wreaking! I'm going to leave a few pics o share a little too. Keep up the good work everyone! Don't get too discouraged by the scales :)

  2. I am only a little over 2 weeks out, but I don't feel hungry. I sometimes have noises going on in my tummy, but that is NOT the hunger pains I had went through prior to surgery...not by far! I am usually always sipping something...and if I go too long without liquids, I feel horribly thirsty, but not hungry. Or at least not at this stage yet. I am on an acid-blocker, for those that aren't, perhaps you may want to try that. HTH!

  3. I'm only out 2 or so weeks too, but these have saved me so far, Unflavored GENEPRO - It's only 1T and gives 30 grams of Protein, and I mix it into Jello, chicken broth or creamed Soups. I also do Syntrax's nectar and Matrix brand Protein Powder drinks...I found one that I absolutely LOVE, Matrix Mint chocolate Chip Cookie. It tastes like a shamrock shake, and I could drink this every day w/o issues! I'm sure other's will have great ideas too, Good luck!

  4. Just wanted to give everyone a little update. I had my 2 weeks post-op visit earlier today and have been okay'd to move onto pureed stage. I am down a total of 21 lbs since surgery, but of course most of this (20lbs) was from my first week. The scale this past week has not been my friend, LOL! Tried the ricotta bake tonight and it was AMAZING! I usually get all of my fluids in...finally made my 60 gram Protein goal like 2 days ago, although it looks like this may be trickier now that I have to plan actual foods. I don't eat tuna...and am not a big fan of eggs, does anyone have any suggestions for what I can eat now that has some protein and won't taste so horrible pureed? Most of you are ahead of me and you all seem to be doing wonderful :)

  5. How u doing champagne301?

Thinking of you. Today was a turn around day for me. Feeling much better.

I'm feeling better, but still not getting the required Fluid intake yet. I think I'm at 30oz. No attempts at Protein yet. I just left a message with the office for a call back. (TMI)I am concerned since I developed diarrhea yesterday, and its continued into today, with my current intake I may get dehydrated, so I wanted to know what they suggest at this point.

I'm glad you are doing well, and thanks for asking! ;)

  6. Well everyone, I am home now...sore, but alright. I was feeling really good @ 6pm on the very first day, and I was walking and all, then it quickly changed. All of a sudden I was in pain and horribly nauseous. I vomited a total of 3 times between midnight and 8am. Apparently they thought maybe at first I was just sensitive to meds, then they thought morphine was the culprit, so they gave me delotid(sp?) and as soon as that hit my veins I was sick again. They finally pulled me off all narcotics, and gave me toradol(?), which is a strong iv version of ibuprofen, and phenergen(sp?) for the nausea and that finally worked! I wasn't advanced to liquids until 8pm on day two, and that was just sips of Water. This morning I started clear liquids and it's been well tolerated. I don't have much pain, just very sore and the occasional gas pressure. They said I could advance to full liquids, but I think I'm going to take it easy for a couple of days. I am very happy to be home tonight and in my own comfy bed. :)

  9. Shoes~ I have a closet full of them that I can't wear for very long because it just hurts too much because of my weight, pressure, or whatever...would be nice to wear them again...oh, and thigh high boots!

Clothes~ Lots of them...sexy ones too, would be really nice :)

Not being out of breath~ walking upstairs, or down the block or during aerobic exercise, in general during the summer, etc...or even at night, apparently I have some sleep apnea and am on cpap, so it would be good to be off that damn machine.

Attention~ Alright, I am not too shy to admit I'd like a little bit of attention...from sexy men of course, LOL! Not the kind we've all become accustomed to, where you know they are talking about how fat you are either.

Roller Coasters~ I want to FIT comfortably on them! Some I still fit on, but having my chest smooshed to accomplish this just doesn't seem very safe lately ;)

I want to go scuba diving, para-sailing, horseback riding, mountain climbing, and so much more, without my weight being the deciding factor! I want to LIVE...fearlessly. I remember how it felt to live that way...and I want it back :)

  10. Thank you, and I'm sure I'll be around updating afterwards :) When they asked for more info, they wanted 3 things: proof that I didn't have endocrine disease or stomach ulcers (which was already sent to them via the many tests and labs I had done during the pre-op work-up, and clinical proof I was smoke-free for 6 weeks...which my Surgeon's team just wrote a letter vouching for me and apparently that was good enough. Maybe it took so lond since it was the end of the year, combined with the hoidays, but at least the approval came in finally, and I am SO looking forward to my date now. You will be there soon...I'd tell you to have patience, but I lack that, LOL...so just hang in there! ;)

  11. It does depend on your insurance company. I gained 7 lbs during my 6 month supervised weight-loss plan, and was still approved. Others though, I've read, have been denied. I asked my coordinator, and he assured me that my insurance was not one that mandated a loss, or penalized for a gain, so I'd say they deal with these insurance companies very often...they should be able to answer this best for you. Good luck!

  12. It varies for everyone. Some people get approved in 2 days. I don't have your insurance, but for me I submitted on Dec. 2nd, received a letter/fax from insurance on Dec 18th requesting more info (which just seemed like a way to prolong things), which my surgeon sent them the info the same day, and then they took until Jan 2nd to approve me...so a full month for me to get approval. Good luck! The wait was driving me insane ;)

  13. So, I had my pre-op appointment, which included instructions on both pre-op and post-op diets, bloodwork and final meeting with my surgeon. Funny that I didn't have any questions for him, lol. I've been researching this forever, or so it seems anyway ;) I don't have to do an all liquid diet, just have to stay under 1000 calories, which isn't that bad at all. He asked me if I was nervous, and I'm not the slight bit as of yet. Anyone here getting nervous yet? How is everyone doing?

  14. Just got my date today and I am scheduled for January 19th! I haven't been put on any Pre-Op diet yet, but I have my Pre-Op appointment scheduled for this coming Thursday, so I am sure I will find out then what kind of diet it will be, since I will be less than 2 weeks from my surgery date. I'd like to stay in contact with those close to my date as well :)
