How's everyone doing? I've been very bad the last few weeks and not eating what I should be eating. His is so much harder than I had imagined. Anyone else having difficulty eating right? Anyone have any suggestions or will give me a kick in the ass for being stupid?? I didn't go through all of this to start making poor choices and get fat again. ????

I was self pay and I had the sleeve done. They were able to get my insurance company to cover the pre surgical testing that is required. I paid about $17,000 and that covered the surgery, the Drs, one night in the hospital. Basically the 2 days in the hospital, the $17,000 covered it. But if anything extra is needed like additional tests, additional doctors, additional time in the hospital, etc then they will bill your insurance first, and you are responsible for the rest.

What did you think of the new nurse practitioner?

I've thought a lot about what you said "doing something for yourself". This surgery was something I did for myself. Spending over $17,000 (including pre-op testing) was a huge deal to spend on myself. It was either buy a new car or have surgery lol. I would love to be able to do something big for myself to celebrate my weight loss, but this surgery really put a strain on my finances. Maybe once I get caught up on my bills, I can do something big for myself. Until then, I will just be happy watching my numbers drop. ????

No, I haven't. The only thing I do is set small weight loss goals such as 10 pounds and when I reach it, I buy a new outfit. I'm low on money right now so I went to Goodwill and bought a few brand new clothes there. I have also bought a few pairs of pants as my goal size. They just hang in my closet and one day, I will reach them lol.

Sorry you're having trouble. At the beginning, I did protein shakes, soups, refried beans. The first month I could barely eat or drink anything, so now I have to make up for the protein that I didn't get in the beginning. To be honest, I googled other bariatric programs and ate stuff off of their menus. I found that Bailey has the toughest/strictest food menus. Can you eat Greek yogurt?

I'm not sure if it on the $4 plan or if it is $4 with my insurance....but it's worth checking in to.

And yep, those are the 2 prescriptions that I got.

Really? They did the same with the Vitamin D with me but I got mine at Walmart and I pay $4. You might check there to see if it's cheaper. I hate that your insurance doesn't cover it. I think insurance should have to cover whatever our doctors prescribe us, but that's just wishful thinking on my part lol

@Jade2015... I have no idea what my level is. They didn't even call me they just sent in 2 prescriptions for it. The only way I knew they called them in was my pharmacy sent me a text saying my prescriptions were ready. I called Dr Kirks office and a lady called me back and said that it was low. I see Dr Varnell on Tuesday so I will talk to him about it.

So I had my surgery March 2015, and I've never had a problem with my thyroid. I did my 3 month blood work the other day and it came back that I had hypothyroidism. When I talked to the nurse, I asked her if it had anything to do with the surgery. She said no, but I find it hard to believe that. Has anyone heard that there is a correlation with thyroid issues and bariatric surgery?

@@jade2015 I was supposed to go to the Cushing group but I go to the Owasso one instead. You should come to it. Lots of people are there.
