I have now worked my way up to a vigorous walk everyday for about 35 min. The only thing I have to complain about is not having very good walking shoes.
I am now 190 lbs and have been wearing Birkenstock's for far too many years and my foot has spread to a wide size at the toes. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shoe that I won't have to mortgage my home for?

Yes, thanks for the comments. I am 4 1/2 months post RNY and am beginning very noticable hair loss. Plus my hair is very dry now. I've lost 65 pounds, so I'm still very happy. I bought a really expensive shampoo/conditioner at the stylist's, but not doing that again. Found some cheaper today at Sally's (hope it works better) and have been religiously taking my Biotin. I still struggle daily with getting close to enough Protein, so I know that's the problem, but I get so sick still from so many things.
I know this didn't help but I just wanted to join the conversation. Thanks for listening. And best wishes. It's a journey, that is for sure! So glad people are saying it grows back. Faith is the key.

Thank you so much for this post Homecie, I really needed it. Just the other day, I spent the morning crying after washing my hair and realizing how much has fallin out. Being over weight my whole life, made me feel like all I had was my long hair so this side effect of the surgery was very hard on me. I'm hopeful now tho

I missed coffee. So I use cappichino from Syntex nectar. It has been my experience that it is essential for sucess to find a Protein drink or powder that you like and will use . I tried at least 7-10 before I found Nectar. Also, your tastes will change as you progress, so try new ones as you venture on. I also was told to use whey isolate and not the Premier shakes because they don't use the protein that my doc required that the body used readily. Ck with your doc or nut for the best for you and you will be sucessful if you find the right one.

Love me some pickles! Extra dill and all the juices. I get restless legs and eating a couple at bed time helps me. Go figure. Must be the salt. I don't get much salt in any other food. God bless the cucumber and vinegar too.

Chrystal light lemonade powder, herbal tea, Protein powder Soup from unjury, a shaker container to make your shakes, non-fat milk to mix drinks when you are ready, a walking partner that will go around the block with you a couple times a day, comfortable clothes that don't hurt your inscision. Non fat yoguart, broth, and sometimes it helped to have a watch or clock near by so you won't drink before 45 mins or so after you eat. Good luck. The time goes by quickly. Drink your Protein first, and have some stuff to soften your stool. Constipation is waiting around the corner for all of us. Have your vits, Calcium and all that stuff ready to go when you get home so you don't have to go out for a couple of days. Take a shower daily, that makes you feel better too!

Piping Rock, the very best and least expensive non flavored Protein. It does not curdle when heated and mixes very easily. It is truly a powder, I find Unjury grainy. You can find Piping Rock on Amazon for about $13 smackers too.

I had to use that little bottle of liquid explosion the night before surgery to expel anything and I mean anything in my digestive tract. It just about took my ear wax and sucked my eyelashes right through me too. Just kidding. I then had surgery and still no Water to drink. I awoke around three in the morning ready to get up and walk. As I drug around my catheter bag and IV cart, I asked everyone I saw for Water. Begged. I even offered to pay if nurses would slip me some. I started to chant.....WATER.........WATER............ No one felt sorry for me, all they gave me was one of those sponge lollipops. I think that was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery.
No regrets though!
