Will this pass? Is this normal?

Not sure if its normal, but it happened to me too. So it very well may be if many agree (lol). I was worried I wasn’t intaking enough and just kept thinking Im doing it wrong, its not going to work for me. So far so good. what helped me was sticking to the sample menu’s I was given. I figured I cannot go wrong that way. I did start feeling that hunger (head hunger) the start of my second week POST OP. I just made sure I had my broth and fought it … HARD! Because I knew its what is best. I find hot (eg broths) are more satisfying whent that hunger comes on. Hang in there, you got it
  3. To keep me on track and get all my fluids in I stuck to the sample menu (as much as I could). Made sure every hour I got in the alotted amount. It will get easier
  4. Happy Thanksgiving, Grateful for life, family, friends and health!

  5. Most definitely. You will love it. I was dreaming about food so often lol. By Christmas I should be on regular Food God willing. That way I can enjoy my Christmas even meal even if it's a teaspoon of everything. Lol well not everything ahaha.
  6. I know what you mean. lol in two weeks I'lol be able to introduce one real food per day. Woot woot lol

Why is my Pre-op diet so long?

You can ask your surgeon, but my best guess would be because of the liver factor as already mentioned. Look at it this way, you will be better prepared for the 2 week liquid bari diet post op. Best of luck to you, I know you got this

    I'm starving!

The liquid bari diet that was given to me also had sugar free Jello. Are you taking your Protein shakes? Hang in there you can do it, can’t eat anything until you are cleared for stage II (puree) Mine starts in a couple of days. Trust I know how you feel, because I am counting the hours lol. But its a small sacrifice for your health and life You can do it!
  12. I am on day 12 post op and am starting to get cranky because I am so hungry. I can imagine it is mostly head hunger but I have been strong. I have stuck to my liquid diet (Bari diet stage 1) and start stage II (puree) in a couple days. What I cannot understand is how different many peoples diet or version of the bari diet is on here. I love it here, I get a lot of good advice and its a great place to find out information but when I read about self desctrutive acts then them getting upset because people tell them the truth (according to Physicians and Hospitals) about how you are supposed to eat they get defensive. I am all for positive criticism and feedback but you cannot get upset when you know you are doing wrong to your health, your body and new stomach and then post about your Evil Canieval eating habits straight out of surgery and are told as much. It goes from Denial to defense. Here I am struggling but sticking to it because I know it is a lifestyle change and its for my health, longevity and most importantly to keep me safe, and if you speak to me the wrong way I may jump up and cling to the ceiling like a bat … while others are like yes, I chowed down on a pizza, had fried chicken, chomped on some chips 3 days our of surgery. What? Granted, its not my business, but since its put out there … it is hard to understand for me how you can go through life destroying your body, then work so hard to get the surgery to then self sabotage. Making a mistake is human, but wanted to get validated for bad behavior? Sorry not the way. This isn’t a quick fix and we all know it. We know its HARD, we must WORK at it … but we are SOOO WORTH IT! To everyone struggling and who has slipped up just keep on track. That goal to health and longevity is in the horizon. Isn’t is beautiful? So even though I want to lick the cheese off the chips my mate eats, I am holding back. 2 weeks of this liquid diet and 2 more weeks of puree is a small sacrifice for a Lifetime of health. You are worth it

    I HAD MY SURGERY

I agree with most everyone here. I unfortunately am not new to surgery in general and I didn’t expect to feel as bad as I did. I thought my back was going to explode and it was awful! Didn’t comprehend how hurtful gas can be, but … there is a but, lol it does get better each day. The walking and moving to get the gasses moving work. I took the gas X strips for a couple of days after I got home because as everyone, even the nurses mentioned, the gas pain shoots to your left shoulder, was bad. It helped. I am day 12 and even though my energy isn’t fully back, I’m better than yesterday

    Burping, Nausea

Has she seen her doctor yet? Or spoken to her nutritionist? That may be the way to go to get some advice and maybe to alternatives because she will need her Protein and all the fluids she can intake as to not be dehydrated. I hope she gets better soon.

    Losing focus

I agree with therapy. It has also happened to me and it resorted to a huge weight gain, this was prior to WLS. I had lost in on my own but gained it all back. I understand that you say you have no time, but if you do not have time for yourself … who else will? You have to always take care of #1 because that is how you are able to be there for others in the long run. Remember you did this for you, take the appropriate steps to take care of yourself precious one. You do not realize how much self damage you inflict when you are in pain.

    Not telling family

God bless you and your family. Let him know as soon as you can. I fully understand the pain and the fear, but I feel he will also understand you wanted to be around from them, but also yourself. You seem like a strong woman and I wish you continued strength and blessings.

    Not telling family

I haven’t told my family, I just told one member after the surgery. I did say I was having surgery though, God forbid something happened to me I wanted them to know where I went and that I loved them. My reasoning is because its personal and I rather do it at my own time and I have one member of my family that is the human social media. Once they know, people in China will be tweeting about it. So I have to wait get my health back to normal and my routine in tact. As for the holidays, I do not like lying. I would say I don’t want, can’t have or something that is closer to the truth. Eventually it will be known so just take it slow and do what feels comfortable. For me it will be once I am feeling like my normal self. I am not ashamed, I just need time to deal with this life change before I start letting others give me their unwanted 2 cents.
  20. I am thankful for @@Klein1175 for being there for me throughout my surgery and having everything ready for when I got home (foods etc) and being the great sister/friend anyone can ask for. All the words of encouragement and knowing all I have to do is pick up the phone and she is there. I am thankful for @@AValle23 My Diva for life. For always be that ear I can bend, giving me great tips and advice, helping me with Protein for this surgery lol and for always being there to laugh with. laughter is so important in life, love and healing. post op 7 days pizza

Wow do you know that I have been craving A cracker since my surgery!!! lol I guess its not just me. I just wouldn’t do it. Cool your MD said its ok. I have a few more days on my liquid bari diet (stage I) I know Puree is going to be heavenly (stage II) LOL
  23. living55

    post op 7 days pizza

I can understand the urge since I am at day 10 but don’t do it to yourself. It does seem like the start of something even worse. Having a mate who is eating everything I wish I could (pizza included) I have urges or either a- slapping it out his mouth or b- biting it mid stream. What stops me? Everything I went through to get here. Almost my entire life battling obesity. The fear of damaging my new stomach and lastly ruining this new life style which is what we are doing. Fight it and if that isn’t enough, speak to your nutritionist on what you can do about it. Do not revert to what got you here. You are worth much much more than that slice

    Thrown through a loop

I felt the same way. I had to jump through so many rings of fire to finally get my surgery that I almost convinced myself that it was a sign NOT to do it. I even thought, maybe I won’t survive this one it was so bad everything they made me go through. I felt like I was on staff making calls making sure people were on top of THEIR job. To the point that after I received my surgery date, they said … You know you need to see a cardiologist (I’m hypertensive, but my heart is great). When I went there 15 days before my surgery he was insisting on MORE tests. I just finally broke down crying. I said my goodness, are you serious? It’s a sign! But lo’ and behold, I recieved a call a little less than two weeks before my surgery date (11/24) and was told if I would mind coming in the next day (11/12). I said with all my nervousness, I WILL BE THERE! 10 days post op, I am doing well through the Grace of God and those appointments the cardioligist wanted to me do … canceled Stay positive, and your husband is 100% right. Have to work hard for what you want, and it is worth it! Keep your head up, you are on your way to healthiness and longevity
