  1. @@Kindle,

When I first started looking on this forum you were one of the people I admired most. I have always appreciated your advice/ responses. I still recall one of your posts about needing food in the airport and finding a place that sold Quest bars.......to me that showed real dedication to success post WLS. I always make it a point to look at your posts, I will surely miss your wisdom.

  2. Shawn Mullins, My Stupid Heart

    My stupid heart
    Is what I blame
    When the arrow flies
    With perfect aim

    It don't work out
    Like I thought it would
    My stupid heart
    Still thinks it could

    My stupid heart
    Believes the lies
    The poets tell
    Surprise, surprise

    Good love goes bad
    Falls apart
    Oh, so sad
    My stupid heart

    My stupid heart
    Can be so cruel
The way it plays me for a fool
    It never learns
    You think I've known
    My stupid heart
    Is kind of slow

    My stupid heart
    It plays for keeps
    Through hoops of fire
    It bounds and leaps
    It's all for love
    Right from the start
    That's how it is
    My stupid heart
    (My stupid)
    My stupid heart
    (My stupid)
    My stupid heart
    (My stupid) heart

  3. I am 18 months post WLS.

I now prefer flavored room temperature Water. I can consume 16 oz. in about 5-8 mins.

I never drink while eating, however, I can eat immediately following drinking, don't need to wait 15 mins. I did follow the ( eating) 15-30 minute after drinking rule until about 15 months post surgery.

Initially I could not get in the recommended 64 ozs, but by 4 weeks it was no longer difficult.

I have no problem reaching the 64 oz. daily goal now.

It is different for all of us, but you will do your best and it will all work out.

  4. I have not worn shape wear since girdles were de rigueur when I was young. I think I need to revisit the idea since I now have a noticeable roll above my waist band, since my shirts are more fitted and smaller now (well, all of my clothing is smaller). I can't abide the thought of it in the summer weather though.

  5. Well, the jury is still out on this one. It will be interesting to see how well it works and how well embraced by the bariatric professionals over the next few years. To me pumping gastric contents into the toilet after eating is somewhat repugnant, but it may well help some people on their way to weight loss.

  6. I am 15 months post WLS and have not had any issues with diverticulitis. I used to have flare ups periodically and needed to be on those two nasty antibiotics when experiencing those painful symptoms. I eat nuts, seeds, berries, apples, popcorn, all without any repercussions. I do make sure I eat Greek yogurt every day and I take one Florastor (very expensive) probiotic daily. I do not use Fiber supplements and don't need them. Based on my experience I think the WLS improved the climate in my bowels.

I have also heard great things about keffir.

  7. I no longer have any bread or Pasta in the house. I buy one potato or sweet potato a week and that is for my husband. I also do not buy chips, Cookies, chocolate, candy, cake mixes etc. I still have chocolate chips in my pantry from over a year ago, since I don't bake Cookies anymore, not sure what to do with them.

I have a whole shelf in my refrigerator dedicated to Chobani key lime Greek yogurt. I'll buy 20 of them at a time if they are on sale. Lettuce, spinach, fresh vegetables and fruit fill the bins and cheese takes up some space as well. Lots of meat in the freezer.

My children are grown so I don't need to think about what they would need and my husband is eating pretty much what I eat.

    Very different from before WLS!
