    Any Trekkies out there?

Please notice my moniker. Maybe I like Star Trek a little. NJ is too far away for me. You go and enjoy it for those of us that can't make it there!
  3. A lap?! Fabulous NSV, congratulations.

    Low testosterone

@@Kindle, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I have lost a nephew to suicide, it was a stunning shock. I pray for you to get through this weekend's anniversary of your friend's death. Perhaps in the future the med.'s and or hormone therapy will help with your sense of sadness. I have always thought your posts on this forum were very valuable and insightful and I appreciate your contributions.
  7. I think many of us agree with LipstickLady, that we prefer to keep some aspects of our lives private. As far as any obligation to inform other obese people about WLS, isn't that up to them to do their own research? No one told me about WLS. In this age of information at your fingertips if they are interested they can find out for themselves. No guilt here regarding not sharing. I didn't even tell my grown children who are living abroad.

    Walking in beautiful places

I enjoyed the pictures, thanks for sharing. My dog and I walk together nearly everyday for 5 miles, it's the one exercise I consistently take pleasure in.
  10. And this is just the beginning of your weight loss! Congratulations!

    Trying to plan ahead!

I felt pretty "normal" at 5 days post-op. I had very little pain, the worst post surgery for me was nausea which I usually have after anesthesia. That was gone by day four. Good luck!

    BariatricPal Store

I just ordered Bariatric Advantage calcium chews from them last week. I was surprised at how quickly they shipped and their prices are very competitive with other on-line sites.

What are your other addictions/ obsessions?

Chobani key lime Greek yogurt. Must have one for breakfast every day. I check out the grocery store ads in the paper on Sundays to see which market has them on sale and buy 20 at a time. I actually start to get nervous if there are only a few left in the refrigerator. My husband has decided he likes them as well, so I have to make sure there are enough around for both of us and that I don't miss out on my daily "fix".

to snack, or not to snack?

I have had a bit of confusion over this as well. Early post-op the nurse in my program stressed "no snacking". You know how impressionable we tend to be in the early days, it has really stuck with me. Then when I was on solids my dietician said no more shakes/bars, try to get your Protein from "real food" three meals a day. Later my dietician said I could add back in protein shakes/bars since I was having trouble getting in 70g of protein per day. So now my mind is always conflicted regarding "snacks". I still can't get in over 20g of protein per meal each day. So still confused at 13 months out.

    Chinese Food

I absolutely love "Chinese" take out. My very favorite is spicy sesame chicken, which of course is breaded, therefore it is a once every six weeks-two month treat. No rice etc. I do notice I am usually up a pound or two the day after due to the higher sodium.
  18. One tear out. Lost 77 lbs. was hoping for 100, but oh well, much improved!

Wishing that you have an easy recuperation! Welcome to the loser's bench.
  23. I have a hard time remembering to slow down. I am not a super fast eater, but after WLS it seems I find myself eating a little too fast for my tiny tyrant tummy. All of a sudden I will be FULL. Need to work on it.

    "Champagne bubbles"

I called it "foaming" when I had it. I only had about three episodes of it, the worst one after I went on mushy food and made that ricotta bake. I was spitting up foam for hours. I never made that ricotta bake again.
