  1. @@Lindsey87 Congrats in advance on your marriage! I am sure you will have a good time The pool and jacuzzis were open, and I wished I had brought my swimming suit for pre-surgery- so hopefully your weather is good @@Rocky1 I think the pain meds depend on the outfit. I didn't have a problem at all, never really even had to ask for medications- they had a schedule down! I did ask once, and was OK'd right away. My pump bothered me on the 2nd day. Good luck with your pain management!
  2. I had my surgery on 1/16/15 and am now 13 days post op. I had not felt actual hunger before today. My NUT and surgeon have set a 100g Protein goal for their patients and I have been getting close to reaching it each day (usually top out at 80-99g), but today I woke up just...hungry. Today I have already had some kefir (1/3c), cottage cheese (a little less than 1/2 c), Water and more water, Propel, a Protein shake made with lactaid milk for extra calories/calcium and a S/F pudding -- and it is only 2PM here! I am still hungry, so I am going to have another protein shake here soon. I start pureed foods tomorrow, so am hoping to be more filled up! I just find it weird that I have not had actual hunger since surgery and now today, its in full force. Plus, I feel a bit week. My NUT said to try to get in more protein and fats, like adding cream to my puddings and shakes. She also suggested it could be head hunger, but I don't think it is...or maybe it could be? Anyone else have this? I'm freaking out, yo!!!

    Hangry!

@@alwaysvegas Thank you for your insight! Makes me feel so much better knowing I will probably be full-er tomorrow!!! THANK YOU!
  4. I want the melted cheese and pepperoni off of the top of a slice of pizza, Soup made with white Beans and ham, and lately have been really craving and liking the taste of mustard (which I used to tolerate, but nothing more nothing less).
  5. @@defibvt Glad to hear I could help! Katy was my coordinator, too! Good luck on your journey!!
  6. @@Midwest Cowgirl Have fun down there! 3/4/15 is my birthday- and I will be thinking of you!!!! Thank all of you for the kind words as well, I am glad I have been able to help. Prior to surgery, I was all over the place and anticipating and planning and making lists, so when I read the other girls' Facebook post it really put me at ease. Glad I was able to do that for someone in return I am back at work today. I had planned on taking 2 weeks off total, but only ended up taking a total of 7 working days off (and two of those were for travel only!). I feel great! I am working 1/2 days right now (Noon-5PM) because I still want to have time off and take it easy, but like that I can walk around at work as opposed to pacing around my house and trying to get my cats to keep me company Cheers!
  7. @@CheleLynn45 THANK YOU for that insight! I have heard from so many people saying that once I am off full liquids I will feel that full feeling, which is good. I am going to start measuring my drinks just to make sure I am not over-doing it. My NUT did call today and I asked her this question and she said that most post-op people have these same feelings. Wheeeew, I felt better after that. Thanks again!!
  8. Hola! I was sleeved on 1/16 and am one week post op. The first few days after my surgery, whenever I drank something or had my broth or Soup, I could tell that I had enough (which was a very small amount) because my stomach would have a weird cramp-like sensation. It wasn't painful, but it felt like my stomach clenched and released. This would be after a few spoons of soup/broth or a couple drinks of liquid (right around 1/3 cup of liquid I would get the sensation). Then I would feel full and kind of like I had to burp. That was my que that I got used to. However, it is now 1 week post op and I do not have that feeling after I eat my soups/broth or drink. I am sticking with the sips and my 1/3 cup servings, but I do not get that signal and I was even still hungry after my broth. I wanted to have more, but am terrified of bustin' a leak. Is this normal? Is my stomach just healing and eating is less crampy? I kind of liked the cramp because I knew for sure that I reached my limit. I hear of people overeating or drinking and getting ill, so I don't want that, either. And I reeeealllly don't want to strech out my new tiny stomach. Am I just paranoid? Am I overthinking this?
  9. @@Pac-woman & AvaFern Thank you!!! I am now less/not paranoid Off to the next adventure!! Ya'll are awesome.
  10. @@Diane Grimm Thank you! I had a blast-- I was actually sad that my surgery trip was over. Happy Friday, girl!
  11. Hola! I actually got home 2 days ago. I am doing VERY well, up and moving and cleaning, etc etc etc. I had requested to take most of next week off of work, but I am considering going in and doing half days or something. My experience in TJ was AWESOME. The surgery wasn't fun...but the experience was. I would not trade it for the world. I am currently trying to work on getting all my liquids and Proteins in. I haven't hit my goal yet (64oz liquid and 100g protein) but I am hoping to get there today. My worry is that I am able to get down more and more liquid, Soups etc and I am freaked out that I have a leak. I think my stomach is just healing and it is less painful to drink and eat...but I am paranoid! LOL Thanks for checking in! I did not have a laptop with me while travelling and I have a hard time replying to things on this forum on my Kindle and my phone. Ciao!
  12. I am hoping this is normal- but I have been waking up at 2AM for this past week and have been thinking 'Oh my gosh, it is ALMOST here! What am I DOING??!?!!'. During the day, I think about this upcoming surgery all day- no joke. I have been waiting since October, so, for 90 days the surgery has been seeming like a dream. Now, on Friday- I start my pre-op diet. Whoa. It is getting REAL, people! I think I am nervous because: -- I am going to MX alone. My mom just had neck surgery so she cannot go (even though she wanted to!). My boyfriend flat out refused to go to Mexico because he (a) doesn't ever want to go to MX and he doesn't really think I need the surgery (but says he will support me & my decision). So, I make my journey alone. --I have never, ever had surgery before. I had an endoscopy about 7 years ago and was put under anesthesia for it, but I had my best friend right by my side and it was a tiny 10 minute procedure. --It is actually going to happen. It has felt like a dreeeeammm for so long- I just can't believe that in less than a month I will be at home, recovering....and on the way to a new me. Wheew. It felt good to get that out. No one really is behind my decision to go to Mexico and get a sleeve...so I am kind of at a loss of people to talk about my jitters without getting a lecture on why I should just back out now.
  13. i am in CA and head to Mexico today for surgery tomorrow...YAY!

  14. THANKS All! I set up mY trAvel alerts prior to coming and should be good to go! I am going to be picked up and taken into TJ today....YAY!
  15. I plan on bringing cash for tipping to Mexico- I have 100 in small bills. Will my credit card work down there, too? Someone said to bring more cash for the pharmacy, etc...but I have never been a fan of carrying a ton of cash on me. Will my credit cards work in the pharmacies and stores?? Thanks!
  16. @@JamieLogical Awesome, thank you!!! I was really not wanting to go down there with a ton of cash. I hate carrying it. I am also paranoid, so that may have something to do with it Woot!
  17. THREE more days until I get my new tiny tum tum!

  18. @@LezzieLez I AM!!! I just found out that I have one more day of REAL food, so that is cool, too! I thought the 3 day liquid diet was 3 days before the surgery day, but I guess I am supposed to count the day of actual surgery? Which is weird, but oh well. I am finishing up my packing tonight and getting on my plane in the AM! SO MANY READYS!!!!
  19. On the first day of my clear liquid diet phase of the pre-op diet (starting tomorrow!) I am supposed to take a laxative. They say I can take whatever I normally take. I have never taken one before! Does anyone have a good one to suggest? I am super afraid to take one because....well...I heard they make you poo explosively? (Sorry for poo-talk this early in the morning!) But ...any suggestions? Thanks!
  20. 4 more days until surgery! Clear liquids starts tomorrow....woo woooooo

    Frustrated and worried about husband...

I am going to follow this thread, too. I am having my surgery on Friday...but am worried about my boyfriend. I weigh 30 lbs less than him right now. He is a foot taller than me...and we are both very overweight. He said he would do the 2 week pre-op with me, and I have shed 13 lbs so far. He has lost 4. I think he is secretly eating- because anytime we diet together, especially low-carb, weight just melts off the man. He usually loses weight at a rate of 4 lbs per week or more. For him to only lose 4 lbs is really surprising...and he also refuses to talk about it- which is also weird. He is usually really excited and boastful when he loses weight. I haven't been accusatory, but have just asked how he is doing and have been really open (as usual) with my weigh in numbers. I am really worried that while I am becoming fit and active, and he will stay on the couch I worry that it will cause a rift between us because I refuse to stay a couch potato any longer! I want to get out and go walking, hiking, camping, running, kayaking, etc etc etc!!!! Hopefully my on-going weight loss motivates him, though. Sigh.
  22. I am going to Dr. Elias Ortiz on 1/16/15 for $4600. I went through A Lighter Me.
  23. @@Ingrid007 I think everyone goes through that stage Should I really do this? What am I doing??? AHHHH! I went through that last week and was really close to calling it off. I sat down and talked it out with my bf and made a list of why I signed up for this. Maybe try the same? Happy Monday!
