  2. Keep your fingers crossed for me....On Friday I finally had an epidural injection in my thoracic spine to try to get my mid back and rib pain to improve. This particular pain has been plagueing me for 1 1/2 years following my cervical fusion. Yesterday was the first time in 1 1/2 years that I had NO pain! Today I have pain but it is mild and totally tolerable. It takes a full week before you know the results of an epidural completely but I am so very hopeful that we finally found the cause and have treated it properly.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes! I still have a few days before this injection takes full effect. I have had a couple good days and a few bad ones. I am still hopeful and i have been told it might take a second try at it so we will see.

@WLSResources/ClothingExch I hope all goes well for yours!

What cloth? I don't know about that. And I've been unable to hear the headphones for the banging of the MRI equipment. I try to tell myself nice stories and think of people and places that I love. Nothing works quite well enough, but we try.

  10. Nervous today. I meet with a cardiologist to see why my heart rate is so low and I keep feeling dizzy/lightheade. I passed out a week ago. All of this following major spine surgery. Off all medications and it is still happening. I hope they don't find anything too scary but need answers. Wish me luck!

DJ, sounds like a perfect evening to me! Alone time to pamper yourself. And who cares about sweaty men grunting and bumping into each other anyway? Cottage cheese, a nectarine, and a hot bath with candles lit all around the tub. Bring it!

    3. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I am still having really severe back pain and cannot take it for that long. Also recovering from Brachioplasty, trust me.....I would not miss a packer game if I could help it. Last year I went in a neck brace and it almost killed me. Too much up and down for now. It is likely I won't make it to the other ones either.

But hubby supposedly brought me a present because he felt bad.

  12. Ouch! Today I had surgery to remove an implanted neurostimulator from my spine. It was an old one and had the leads secured to my spine so I now have 2 old scars opened and one brand new one. They had me so hopped up on drugs I cannot sleep at all, every time I fall asleep, I feel like I am suffocating. So here I am on BP.. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. With less pain medication.

You guys are very sweet. I am having a really rough time tonight. I felt so much better this morning. Hubby is calling the doctors service to see if we can get something a bit stronger. I a, guessing that won't happen until tomorrow given everything has to be physically handed to you these days.

Thanks again everyone for the well wishes and hugs. This is bumming me out a bit and that usually doesn't happen with me

      jane13

that sounds delicious - I love chicken and carrots!

  14. So last night I didn't get to go to the packer game but hubby brought me a present. It was a tiny little packer jacket that has tiny little arm holes. 4 weeks ago there is no way I would have gotten my big arms into that thing. Today, I slid my new beautiful arms in and there was even room. Hubby said, I knew you would have no problem with this! He got a big hug and kiss from me. What a nice surprise.

    1. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

That's a triumph....I knew better upon reading your first line, but confess that it brought to mind the old, dopey joke: "My parents went to Las Vegas and all they brought me was this lousy T-shirt." tsm

      Djmohr

LOL! I am obsessed with trying things on that I once couldn't because of my heavy arms. Now I look for stuff that is tiny in the arms. It's like a game of challenge. I had to take my sleeves off to wash them and hubby is supposed to clip any of the mesh bandage that comes lose. It's the first time he has seen them in about 4 days and the swelling is coming down. He was shocked at how nice they look. I have NO loose hanging skin or fat. My arms look like I am in my 20s again. It really is so worth it. Creepy crawlers and all. Valentina, I know exactly what you are saying, it is not the first time I have felt nerves that are irritated having had several spine surgeries. I am hoping that it is not as bad with my tummy and breasts but at least I know what to expect.

  16. Stuck, stuck and still stuck. 1lb! That's all I am asking for. 1lb so I can be in a normal weight range. Not sure why this is so important to me but it is. Just when I get close, I hop on the scale and wham I gain a pound. I know that it is simply a fluctuation but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. I am trying to tell myself that it really doesn't matter so why do I get so pissed when I have been stuck for so long?!?!

    1. jane13

      jane13

I agree with @Pinkgirl1234 - 1 pound? I am a scale junkie. Have you thought about cutting your hair? manicure? pedicure? wrapping yourself in aluminum foil and going into a sauna? @Djmohr you have done an awesome job and that little... itty... bittty.... 16ounces is nothing.... YOU GOT THIS WHIPPED!

    2. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Trust me, I know that I have done great and I do feel great. I also look fantastic in clothes. I also know that if I had surgery to remove all my loose skin, I would be near the bottom of the range for my height.

For some reason, I simply want that 1 stinking pound. If I never get to the 165 goal I don't care but I want that 1 pound. And I know I will get it, it is only a matter of time. I will hunt it down and I will get rid of it. LOL! I have declared war, as of 8am central standard time today, me and that pound are at war.

    3. jane13

      jane13

I totally "get it" about the one pound. My "one pound" is 6lbs (179). I have also declared a 6lb war starting yesterday I got on the scale (GRRrrrrrr!) and I have another apt on the 19th....gonna make it. going back to pre-op diet if scale doesn't move by Sat/Sun.

  18. Thank Goodness! Today I heard back from my old Bariatric Center where I had my surgery. I asked them to provide a letter that I could take to my new doctors and insurance company in my new state indicating that having to have the annual blood work is an absolute necessity to ensure proper nutrition post RNY. My lovely new insurance company refuses to pay the $2363.00 bill for said blood work because they used the work Bariatric in the coding. The clinic of course refuses to change the coding so I wrote the check yesterday because they threatened to send it to collections. What BS. Now I am filing with both the insurance company for an appeal and I am filing with the state, thanks to @OKCPirate. Don't know if it will do any good and I will get my money back but it is what it is.

    1. OKCPirate

      OKCPirate

This is why I switched to a defined benefit policy. I pay everything up to $4000. So I can pick and choose what I want, who I want to do it no freaking networks or idiots. If I go over they pay up to a million. $146 a month. Worth it. I check the box on my taxes saying I have insurance. All is good. Even the year I got my WLS, I have never gone over it. It is worth it just to see the look in the eyes of the people at the front desk when you ask "well how much is that?" You can get so many discounts if you pay cash and don't file insurance its not even funny.

    2. KristenLe

      KristenLe

Whoever ordered the lab work should have coded it properly and if they didn't - they should have to re-code it. The diagnosis should have been "Inadequate nutrition resulting from poor diet, malabsorption, or abnormal nutrient distribution" in my opinion. I hope you get it straightened out.

    3. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Trust me, I have worked with my doctors office which is an in network clinic. They refuse to recode it and the insurance company thinks they are off the hook because the word Bariatric is in the coding. I am going to appeal it and attach the letter from my Bariatric surgeon now that I have it. But even they don't know that the insurance company will do anything about it. It is total BS. But I won't give this fight up because it is simply wrong. Can you imagine how much it would cost the insurance company if I were to not have my testing done every year and get sick? Which my surgeon wrote in the letter that I am at risk of neurological illnesses due to the malabsorption factor if I don't keep up on my nutrition. I argued with the clinic the other day for over an hour. They believe it is the insurance company. My point was, had someone told me that it was going to cost that much money I seriously would have skipped the test until I got insurance to approve it ahead of time. I would have gone the same route.

Then, I got a call from someone else in the clinic to say that my account was at risk of going to collections. I almost had a heart attack on them. My credit rating has been over 800 for 20 years.....I will go ballistic on them if they screwed with it and so we just paid the bill hoping to get it back later. I really did not have that kind of money that isn't already spoken for. UGH!

  23. Ugh! I am having a nuclear stress test in about an hour in preparation for my shoulder surgery. Nuclear because with my crappy shoulder and back I cannot run on a treadmill. Well, the test itself was no problem however I had to put my arms up over my head for the test. That resulted in my shoulder separating. Yes, seriously. I had a torn rotator cuff and severe arthritis of the AC joint now we can add a separated shoulder to that. I have a huge bump on my shoulder now. It's almost comical. I have to laugh or I think I would be crying. One more week and that will be repaired.

I am doing much better with weight management at the moment. I stopped two medications that were impacting my hunger and literally within a week I dropped from 168 to 161.4 so now I am at my lowest weight since before I had children.

I have some other stuff going on that is causing my appetite to literally be gone so I am sure that is helping but it is temporary so I am still trying to figure out maintenance. Lol, I think this is the hardest part.
