  1. Most insurance companies require the 6 month nutrition period. My insurance company waived the 6 months period if your BMI is over 50. Fortunately and unfortunately my BMI was over 50 so I did not have to do it. Went to my seminar in October, surgery is scheduled for April 28th.

  3. Just received my surgery date.... April 28th! It's real now.

    Michigan Sleevers

I am being sleeved by Dr. Genaw at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. We will be scheduling my surgery at my next appointment on March 13th.
  7. Well it certainly feels that I have been waiting on insurance approval and my 2nd Surgeon visit, the most important one because this is where we schedule the surgery! Well after three weeks, insurance is approved and 2nd appointment is scheduled for 2/27. Exactly one month after medical clearance. Now I have to start my list of questions. I asked a bunch in my first appointment but did no ask about bougie size, will do that this time. Any other questions I should be asking? You guys really are a great support system. Along with done great channels on YouTube and some Instagram pages, I feel prepared. Not overly prepared but prepared none the least. Thanks

How long was your hospital stay?

I haven't had surgery yet, but my program requires two nights in the hospital.

    BMI over 50?

My starting BMI is over 50 and I was not required to do a 6 month diet. I was lucky that my insurance company did not require it for surgery.

One week later. I feel great

This is a great post. I am on my way to have my mediclal clearance, which is the final step before submitting to insurance. I was feeling a little overwhelmed by the idea that this is the final step and WLS will actually happen. Thanks for the honesty.

    Goal Weight

So I thought I saw this somewhere but cannot find it. Who decides your goal weight and when is it decided? I have my medical clearance next week and will have my final visit with Suregeon in February to schedule surgery. I'm just curious........... I've read so much on this site and did not post a lot but since I met with the surgeon last week, I want to ask a million questions! Glad you guys are a nice but firm bunch. Thanks
  13. I had my first visit with my surgeon today. I have decided to get sleeved! I have my medical clearance on the 27th. Looks like I will be having surgery in April. I also found out I have no deductible or copay for the surgery. This is getting real and I'm getting excited. After years of taking care of everyone else, I am making 2015 all about me!

    @@Zane's Mom Thanks!
  15. I started this process convinced I would have the sleeve becuase I did not want my organs rearranged. After research, I became open to RNY and decided I would make my decision after meeting with my surgeon. I met with my surgeon and we decided on the sleeve due to less complications. I m excited to have sugery!

Psych Eval -- kind of a silly question

They asked about your support or lack of support system. Your relationship with food. How you became obese (lifetime or over a period of time). We talked about the importance of dealing with your emotional issues once "eating" is no longer the go to. She told me I was qualified at the end of the session. Good luck!
