Thanks for asking .....I am down 15lbs in the month since surgery. 35lbs total since pre-op. I feel fantastic I have more energy and sleep soundly! I am adding new foods everyday and have not had any issues with anything. I feel restriction and usually can get my Protein in and very few vegetables. I am drinking lots of Water. I went golfing and felt great. I have been walking ALOT since my pro-op and now have included hiking in the mountains of Arizona I have NO regrets......not one.

Cherish wow your wt loss is amazing. Good for you!
Donna try to not get too nervous I did, but honestly it was such an easy experience. Nothing compared to carrying around excess wt. I am 60 and had lapband surgery in 2012 big mistake! It slipped resulting in another surgery to remove the band and then a year later the VSG 11/10/2014. Total of 3 surgeries but the sleeve was the easiest! Only sick day one after that I could hardly tell I had surgery. My wt loss has been slow but I hear this is common when you are a revision from band to sleeve combined with my age. Anyway I am losing not gaining which would be happening if I didn't have the surgery. We can't compare ourselves with people who are much younger they seem to lose much faster.
This website is great because we surround ourselves with friends who have the same goals and many of the same issues with food. It's helpful to see you are not alone. It's encourage me to get out and walk, make better choices etc. best wishes to you you will do great. I lost 11 lbs on preop and 15 lbs post op but lots of inches. I haven't weight this weight in many, many years! I have 30-35 lbs to goal????. It only going to get better for you. It's hard work and takes being organized and dedicated but it's so worth it. Take time now while you are waiting for surgery to read all you can. Make meal plans, read labels. I started using egg whites, 1 egg and add some egg whites rather then 2 eggs, chicken sausage that's low in fat. Eating low carbs seems to be the trick at our age. I can't have a lot of carbs if I want to lose. Start making changes now. No grazing. Eat 3 meals and 2 Snacks. Cut the sugar. cheese sticks are good for Snacks and easy to throw in your purse if you are heading out the door.
    You will Rock this!

When I came home from the hospital I was so worried about going poop my family said I was rather obsessed. Well I went 5 days after surgery and thought all was well.
Well about a month and half out, even though I was getting in all my Protein and Water things stopped. Oh man was I in so much pain. When I called my docs office they said to get Miralax and put some in my drink. So that is what I did and low and behold.......It worked!! Thank God!! I never ever want to go thru that again.
I now drink 24oz Decaf tea every night with my scoop of Miralax in it and things have smooth going since. My NP told me to go to only using a half serving of Miralax now, but I do one full serving one day and then 1/2 a serving the next day. I am just so afraid of that happening again.
Well anyway the reason I am sharing this lovely story is my husband and daughter almost bought me this tshirt for Christmas. I will post a pic down below. I laughed so hard when I saw it. I told the they should have, but I think my daughter was afraid I would wear it outside the house.
Thought it might bring a smile to someone's face who is struggling.

HI ladies....good things happening here...congrats to everyone on all the good news. I have some good news too....yesterday I had my first PERFECT 5:2 FAST DAY! So now I know I can do it. I just posted a new blog (don't worry ladies, no sex in this one (OK, one little line, but hey, someone here has to spice things up....so for some of you, you may be disappointed! ). It is what my 5:2 FAST DAY looked like, complete with photos. I have another FAST day coming up tomorrow and I think from the encouragement and enthusiasm from this thread and the 5:2 thread, I can do it again!

Just an update from a low BMIer...
    Surgery: 12/31/14
    Height: 5'4"
    Surgery Weight: 188lb
Today Weight: 176lb -- I lost 12lbs the first 12 days. Since then I've been on a stall. I'm fine with it, knowing my body will start dropping again soon... body is just adapting. A few people have noticed my face is slimmer... wearing big winter clothes doesn't help. I know as the temp warms, and the pounds continue to drop, more people will notice.
FOODS: I had Clear Liquids first week with no problem. I did have HUGE hunger on day 8... that was the same day as my post-op apt and Dr said I could start easing into real foods. I had refried Beans with some shredded cheddar and it was so yummy. I also had scrambled eggs. Yum. Since then (I'm on 16 days post-op now) I've had a big variety. I've had chicken (soft chicken that was in tortilla soup) and it went down FINE! I chewed slow and really small bites. I will say I had some grilled chicken on 14 days post-op and .... it was the first time I had to throw up. I think I just ate too quickly. Other than that I'm doing really well. Eating very healthy and not really ever hunger (just that one day at post op 8days). I have to be purposeful about my Water and Protein.
PHYSICAL: I feel GREAT! Other than some tired days during the first 8 days post, I feel great. I'm taking Calcium and mult Vitamin (purchased at my surgeon's office). My incisions feel great and I know it is just going to get better and better. I've been walking on the treadmill and outside. The furthest walk I've done is 2.3 miles. Felt great!
For those pre-op, I was SCARED to death and kept asking myself should I do this. Well, I am so very happy I did. I would do it again in a heartbeat! I was self pay (first dr appt was on 12/5/14 and surgery on 12/31/14... so this happened FAST). ONLY hubby knows! Since I'm a low BMI, I knew people would be really negative towards me having this surgery. They don't know my struggles. So, we are keeping it quiet. I was nervous about this, but now that I'm past the initial healing, I am so glad NO one knows. Hubby is thinking about doing the surgery too.
Hope this helps those of you considering the sleeve. Blessings!

It amazes me that so many get their panties in a wad when they post their opinion on a public discussion board and someone else disagrees or posts a counter opinion.

Seriously! It's OK. In most cases, that counter opinion is just that -- opinion. While I do take issue with those who take themselves very seriously and post their opinion as fact, I am happy to say they are few and far between.

We, for the most part, have different surgeons, different NUTs, different metabolisms, different builds, different backgrounds, different thought processes, different psychosis... (JOKING! Kind of.)
There are very few doctors or therapists here. There are NO experts on YOU here, with the exception of yourself. No one is qualified to give you *absolute do or die* advice. No one is in a position to tell you that you are !!!WRONG!!! or that everyone else is.

Relax. Breathe. Discuss. Share. Vent. Listen. Learn.

We all have our hot buttons, we are human. We all have topics we are passionate about. Debate is fun! It's healthy. It's how we learn and grow. It's a positive form of interaction until someone takes it personally. (I'm guilty at times -- I know it!) As long as it's respectful, there is no name calling involved, and there are no personal attacks, there is nothing wrong with it.

I'll tell you a few things about me that are "wrong" and I don't give a rat's patoot if you want to tell me so:
I drink soda. GASP! Even worse, I drink it through a straw! I would never tell anyone else to do the same. That's between you and your doctor.
I graze all day. My sleeve is small, my restriction is fierce. I graze to keep myself from getting too hungry, eating too fast and then vomiting it all back up.
I eat while I work, when I drive, when I watch TV. I find that when I do this, I get distracted and I eat slower. Weird, I know.
I weigh myself 2-4 times a day. First thing in the morning (usually fully dressed in my PJs as I get up at a ridiculously early time of day to get my kids out of the door.) I weigh myself buck naked after kissing them goodbye when it's time to get myself dressed. I weigh myself before and after a poo (giggle) because I have a middle school boy sense of humor. I weigh myself at night, again buck nekky, just before I get in the shower. I call it my step aerobics. It works for me. I don't get frustrated or upset. I never have, even at my fattest.
I eat real chocolate every day. Just a few Hershey Kisses or a Dove Promise (dark!). It quiets the sweet tooth I didn't have pre-op and keeps me from thinking about sweets all day. It's better to feed the beast a nibble and shut it up. FOR ME.
I eat full fat everything except the things I don't.

I am choosing not to be a WLS advocate. I don't care HOW people think I am losing weight, I don't care who supports me. I don't tell my business to everyone and it's not up to me to save the world from obesity one fatty at a time. I'm not embarrassed, ashamed or a liar.

Your personal experience, your advice from your NUT/surgeon/NP may differ completely. You may be of the opinion that I will be the size of a small whale in 5 year's time. You may think that I am failing myself and my surgery. You may think I am a hypocrite. It's OK.

You do you, I'll do me. We can talk and share and be opinionated together, even when our opinions don't match.

This is a public DISCUSSION board. It's ok to discuss, it's ok to be opinionated. Just expect the same in return.
