I have to agree with cowgirljane. Anxiety doesn't bred rational decisions or thoughts, it does exactly the opposite.

I have found that many of us who are overweight, have control issues. Food=control & fat=disguise, for many of us who feel out of control in other aspects of our lives. That is not all of us. For me, the decision to have wls didn't come lightly. I have 3 children, and am just tired of being fat, and tired. The issue is not losing the weight, that isn't a problem at all. The issue is KEEPING it off. My surgeon explained that most of us can lose no problem, but more than 90% of us will regain the loss, plus additonal pounds. My choice to do this has nothing to do with the loss (that's a bonus) and everything to do with keeping it off, and living a long, healthy, active life for my family. In order to do that, I have to let go of my relationship with food. This is not something that should be done of you are unsure. I know there are things I will miss eating large amounts of, but I also know that I don't want diabetes, I don't want to die young due to obesity related complication. You simply do not see old fat people. I want to get old.

They will give you meds for anxiety before you go in to the OR. The anestesiologist comes and talks to you, at that point, ask for something to calm you down.

No, but any center should be able to tell you if they accept your insurance.

jenbaby75 got a reaction from Daya69 in 29 year old ladies - skin bounce back?
My Nut, and fitness coach said the best thing you can do to ensure the most bounce back, and no Hair loss, is to get all of your Protein, Water, and Vitamins in, from the start. Then, start exercise, with weight training, when allowed. Do not skip exercise, and do not avoid protein. You need the protein to develop, and keep muscle. good luck! I am 39, and should be scheduled this month for my sleeve. I am excited, and afraid at the same time.

I wish I was perfect, but sadly, I am not. I have cheated on my pre-op. I have a pretty hectic life..kids, babies are sometimes unpredictable, sometimes I find myself in situations where I haven't eaten enough due to being out running kid/family errands. What happens then, is that I am starving in the evening. I do my best to go with Protein, but sometimes, I slip up. I imagine it will happen post op too. I have myself set up for success, but life happens, I refuse to fall apart, or call myself, or anyone else, a failure for being human. The best we can do is pick ourselves up, and try again. This is not an easy fix, and I am sure as shit not giving up because I slipped up.

Battling hunger, head or otherwise, is no joke. Why be critical of someone struggling? We are all here because we have, or have had issues with food. OP, don't give up, and don't beat yourself up, just pick yourself up, and keep trying. You will get there.

I 100% applaud, and have so much respect for people that can follow a diet 100% to the letter, and not give in to temptation. I mean that. I wish I was that strong. I am having this surgery to help me with control, as a tool.
I think we all get a little defensive when we feel like we are being judged by others that obviously had similar issues at one time. It can feel like you don't remember or understand the struggle.
I have cheated on my pre-op, I do not feel ill prepared. I have spent an incredible amount of time watching you tube, reading, talking with people that have had it done. It has comsumed my life for a year.
While I plan on following a low carb, high Protein diet after being sleeved, I refuse to deprive myself. My NUT also suggests not depriving yourself. Everything in moderation.
I am very sorry if I offended anyone on this thread.

jenbaby75 got a reaction from agalindo17 in I usted To love eating
I am 3 months post op, and my relationship with food has changed. I just don't care about it anymore. I eat small amounts of what I want, and leave it at that. I aim for high Protein, and lots of liquids. If I feel especially needy, I will have a little popcorn, it makes me feel like I had a treat. We have to learn how to look at food in more of an eat to live way, and less of a live to eat.

jenbaby75 got a reaction from Weighting2BeFree in Pain in large incision area worsening
At about 3 weeks, your large incision can begin to be super painful for a week or so. There is a stitch, deep in the muscle there that is healing. Almost everyone has it, and the severity of the pain, seems to depend on your activity level.

If you can find one you like, I suggest buying them by the case from Vitamin Shoppe. Most days I drink half a bottle, mixed with 10oz of whatever makes it taste better it's an excellent way to get 20g of Protein, and 20 oz of fluids!

I have tried Grape, and Iced Tea Lemon. Both need to be diluted, or mixed with something. It is a great source of Protein, and fluids.

jenbaby75 got a reaction from missheidi47 in How many people kept Weight Loss Surgery a secret ?
I told my parents, my kids, my closest friends, and my aunt. If people want to ask what I am doing to lose weight, I will tell them Portion Control, and exercise. That is the truth, and my psych actually suggested it. The truth is, like diet, and exercise, the sleeve is only a tool. This is one of the hardest things I have done. I am 6 weeks out, and food is an issue. Getting all my fluids in is an issue. Nausea, and puking after eating can be an issue. This is not for the faint of heart. Dealing with judgement, or negativity is not something I feel like doing. I have not regretted my decision for a second.

I use half of a bottle of Isopure, mixed with 12oz G2, or crystal light. I drink on that all day, adding ice periodically.
