@@60&goin4it sounds like you are doing a fabulous job on your weight loss. Great job! Thank you. I actually used an aluminum loaf pan and it turned out very good. I wonder how it would have tasted in an 8x8 pan. Now I have 6 more meals.

Ricotta Bake: What size dish did you use? The amount of ingredients does not seem like enough for my square glass dish.

@@OneLostJourney not sure if this is your issue: I was reading one of the side effects of a medicine I was taking and it said could make you thirsty. If you are taking a medication that has that side effect you could ask your doctor if there is another medication you could try instead.
  4. Went from wearing 5x shirts to 2x. Heading to the lab this morning to get blood drawn for blood thinner levels and vitamin levels for bariatric surgeon to see when I go back. PT coming today will be interesting to see what they work on. Will probably take a nap after that lol.
  5. @@60&goin4it I feel like I have a long way to go on the energy level. I do seem to get a little more energy every day. Yesterday I started getting light headed when I stood up. It is really weird. When I stand up I am fine but within about 20 seconds I get light headed. It lasts about a minute then goes away and I am fine. My dad is going to the grocery store today to get the ingredients for chili, vegetable soup, and the ricotta bake. I already have the ingredient for egg salad. I think my freezer will be well stocked very soon. Do any of you like spicy food? What do you use to spice your stuff up? What do you use to add heat? What about this Sriracha (sp?) sauce I have been hearing about? @ Good luck today! Let us know how it went. @@s0rda and @@jjod thank you! I now understand. I am taking 500 three times a day. I have chocolate, orange, and caramel. I love the orange and the caramel. Has anyone tried the peppermint? Oh never mind it looks like that is the B12 instead. I take the chewable Berry flavored essential multi, chewable passion fruit, and the B12. I also take the B-50 Complex but it comes in capsule form. My doc and NUT said with the gastric bypass we don't absorb the capsules correctly so I would need to break it open. I tried that ONE time and one time only. B was that nasty. I have found a way to take it though. I open it up and put it in my Bariatric Advantage Protein shake. I can't taste it at all. @@scubav85 thanks for the information!
  6. I have noticed a new symptom in the last few days. I now have a tremor in my fingers. My son came to visit last night and he wanted to watch me play a game on the computer. I started playing and I have to hold keys down for a while at times. While holding the keys down the tremors got much much worse where I almost couldn't play. I will bring this up to the doctor Tuesday but I have to say this scares me. It has been almost 6 weeks since my initial surgery and I toss and turn all night long. If I get on my side, either side, my internal parts still bother me or my stomach starts feeling queasy.
  7. Sunday is my weigh-in day: 403 High weight in July 2015 356 Surgery weight 6 Oct 313 Current weight -47 Before surgery -43 Since surgery ----------------------- -90 Total weight loss so far
  8. @@edie091371 Hope hubby is still doing great! Did I see where you posted that your son had a Nutrionist appointment? Does that mean he is thinking about Bariatric surgery as well?
  9. @@60&goin4it thank you for the recipe. I was actually looking for a different one. Also do you have a smaller version? I am the only one in my house that eats chili and I think that recipe would be too much. My parents are coming up today and I think I will get them to make me some chili and freeze some and let them take the rest home. I may get them to make some egg salad and vegetable soup without corn. I would like to try that Ricotta Bake as well. @@s0rda I went back over all the posts and I saw where you posted something about Bariatric Advantage Vitamins 250 and 500. The flavors interested me but I could not figure out what 250 and 500 meant. I went to the Bariatric Advantage website and could not figure it out there either. Can you provide a link to the Bariatric Advantage website for these products? Thanks.
  10. @@dede0314 have you tried: Chili Egg salad Chicken (canned) salad (just add lite mayo and chop up a hard boiled egg) vegetable soup drained and without corn
  11. Ok I need some help finding a WLS friendly chili recipe. I am in the mushy phase and can have chili. Somewhere on these forums I have read about a guy that almost lives on his chili recipe. I can't find that post now. Can anyone help me find it or a good WLS chili recipe? Thanks.
  12. @@edie091371 I get a little stronger each day. So far all the foods I have tried have not given me any problems. I am still on mushy foods and probably will be until around 8 December. I have a goal of drinking four 16.9 FL OZ bottles of water each day. I have to continually be sipping water for this to happen. Sometimes I actually hit that goal but yesterday I was a full bottle short. Wednesday just going to the lab to get my blood drawn wore me out and I took a 3 1/2 hour nap. Yesterday went to the lab, 1 1/2 hours to the Bariatric Doctor and back, made some appointments on the phone, and had a nurse come out for two hours to check-in to allow the PT and nurse visits. I did all that without a nap but at 8pm I was heading for bed. PT will start today I am hoping they can help me on several fronts. When I walk I have some trouble with my sense of balance. I am told my walking looks fine but inside I really have to concentrate on how to walk and don't feel stable. I barely make it up or down the 7 steps in our house they are that much of a struggle. I use a chair in the shower. It is mandatory that someone is in the bathroom with me when I get in or out of the shower chair. It is also mandatory that if I go up or down the stairs someone is with me. These things really affect my ego when just a month ago I was walking 6 miles and moving freely. I am trying to be patient with myself but I have to admit I do get irritated. Last night I had my first dream that I remember since I came home. I picked up a big slice of pizza and took a bite. As my mouth closed over the pizza I was in heaven and then I remembered I wasn't supposed to have pizza because of the surgery and began spitting it out. That's pretty bad cheating in my dreams lol. Anyone else have food dreams? Attempting to take it one day at a time.
  13. @@edie091371 awesome! Thanks for the update. How was his first walk?
  14. @@edie091371 you guys are going to be the dynamic duo. That is so awesome that no only will you each have support but your partner will truly understand where you are coming from. Everything will be just fine. It makes total sense that you are more nervous for him than you were for yourself. I look forward to hearing about all the healthy things you will be doing in the future.
  15. Home once again. I really am tired of all this stuff. My emotional piggy bank is drained and I hope to get a chance to refill it reading your guys posts. I had a blood clot in my right lung. I was in so much pain it took 6 shots of their strongest medication to get it under control. I have to say this has not been a fun journey so far. I am walking on a walker where just a month ago I was walking 6 miles. It is a struggle to get up the 7 steps in our house. I have to sit in a chair when using the shower because I am unsteady on my feet and can't stand that long. It is time to begin recovery but I am so scared of the next foot dropping. I am going to end this post because it feels more like a pitty party. I need time to recharge my batteries. My wife has been my rock. She has had to go through so much during this time. Thank you all for being here and keeping me in your hearts.
  16. Hello all, I hope you all had successful surgeries and are well on your way to your goals and dreams. You guys have made me cry with your kindness and my wife has been very thankful for the support as well. I can’t thank you enough. My story: I am back among the living. Still have some recovery and therapy ahead of me but I have made it home. The doctors tell me I am lucky to be alive. I think it was all the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes that helped me pull through. For those that do not know: 6 Oct Gastric Bypass 9 Oct Complication – Operation to fix a small bowel obstruction. During this operation, as they were putting me under, I threw up into my lungs. My lungs were now filled and not operating. They sent me to another hospital but they couldn't do anything for me. They finally flew me to University of Maryland Medical Center. Where they saved my life. They hooked me up to ECMO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extracorporeal_membrane_oxygenation I had the Veno-venous (VV) type. At one point my wife said I had 18 different IV bags hanging on my pole. As a result of the procedure I have four blood clots in my body and will be on blood thinners for another 3 to 6 months. So I have to have my blood drawn to monitor my blood thinner levels twice a week. I am currently home and walking with a walker. I have PT coming 3 times a week and a nurse coming twice a week to draw blood and check my wounds. I am tired now and need to take a nap. I hope my energy levels return soon. Thank you once again for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes. I hope to catch up on this thread but it will take me a while. Blessed to be among the living.
  17. Hi This is Ron wife Sherry. . I wanted to post on here to you guys it was very important to him that I post to you guys so I wanted to make sure I didn't forget. He has gone thru the surgery and the day after he was doing great but started throwing up that night so they did a cat scan to see why and he had a kink in the intestine so they took him back to surgery and fixed that however while in surgery not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd surgery but he got sick while in surgery and tried to throw up but couldn't with the tu e down his throat and it went back down into his lungs this is called aspiration. It is very serious condition where the acids from the stomach contents can burn and damage the lungs which is what happened. He was taken to another hospital for a few hours then flown to the university of Maryland shock tram unit (LUNG UNIT) he has been on a machine that pumps blood thru his lungs to help heal his lungs . And is on oxygen to help him breathe. He is in very serious condition however we are hopeful that he will recover. But it will take time we are not sure how long .so if you don't hear from him that is why..if you have any questions please email me at slyliston2000@yahoo.Com as I won't see any posts here to tell you how he is doing and I'm not sure who all he was friends with and please pray for him that he gets thru this ty all so much for the support you all gave him during his research of his surgery and helping him prepare for it
  18. Staying an extra night. Still in a lot of pain. I am taking crushed form of dilaudid. Burning sensation in my stomach. Also am not peering but very little. They were going to send me home with a catheter but wife talked them into keeping me another day instead since we live so far away.
  19. Sorry guys in a lot of pain will try to talk if I ever feel better. Doesn't seem to be gas just surgery pain
  20. Just got in the room at 8 pm lots of pain too many drugs to walk..won't be able to see wife forgot glasses will try to update tomorrow am.
  21. That's what I love about my family: I am always carrying them with me. Always feeling the love and support, through good times and bad we are all here to support each other. Sometimes we give and sometimes we receive. We are all loved. I couldn't have asked for more.
  22. First thing @@edie091371 is it is completely normal. <<HUGS>> , <<HUGS>> , <<HUGS>> take what you need now and save the rest for later just in case. This too shall pass. I think this is totally unrelated but it reminded me. There is one thing we need to remember on this journey, as we lose weight hormones will dump into our system. Emotions will go up and down and we may feel strong emotions as well because of it.
  23. Good Morning Family!! Thank you @@edie091371 It is 0600 and I have been up since 0430. I am all packed and ready to go. All I can do now is wait. I just got a text that my parents are leaving their home in Norfolk, VA and plan to be here at 10:00. We leave for the hospital at 1045, have to arrive at hospital by 1245 for a 1445 surgery. I probably won't get to my room until 2000 (8pm) tonight. The first thing I plan to do is get up and go walking then when I get back in bed I hope to get on here and give an update. But will have to see how it goes. I just weighed myself and I am the same 356.4 that I was Sunday. I plan to weigh again when I get back just to see how much I gain during the hospital stay and then I hope not to get back on the scales until Sunday. I have lost a total of 47 lbs since my high weight in July of 403. 32 of which where from the 4 week liquid diet. I got a lot more sleep than I expected to because calm is starting to set in. Does that mean I am calm? Hell no. It just means I am not AS worried, nervous, and scared but those are BEGINNING to not be as strong. I would say more worried than the other two so far. I washed my baby spoons, forks, bowls and plates last night so when I get home they will be ready. I had my tiny sip of Water with my small pill. I am thirsty and keep looking for my big cup of water. I still have another 8 plus hours to go without water ugh. Inova Fair Oaks has free valet parking and I plan to take advantage of that for both our car and my parents. This keeps the car close to get anything out of it and if they pull it up it will hopefully be warmed up by the time we get in it for the ride home. I talked to the lady across the street that had sleeve surgery a few years ago and she wants to start walking with me. Now I will have a walking partner after my wife goes back to work. She needs it, I need it, so it is a win/win situation for both of us. I thought it was pretty cool yesterday at work several people asked me to text them that I was doing ok after the surgery. Well it sounds like my wife just got up so I will get off here for now. Hope to be back on before we leave but you never know.
