Im 5 years in Oct and when i had the endoscopy before surgery i had a slight hiatal hernia.ive always suffered from heartburn on and off but everything was ok.until 3 months ago when i had my 3rd endoscopy and was told i had an ulcer(my biggest fear with this surgery) and my hernia is alot worse.so i was put on carafate for 3 months and had my hiatal hernia repaired 5 days.another endoscopy was done right before surgery and showed ulcer healed but i had a massive amount of scar tissue from acids in my stomach.also my stomach is still very irritated and i just got back from check up today and i have to be on pureed foods for 4 more weeks and still on protonix for 2 months more(ive been on protonix since my sleeve,5yrs!)also have to get another endoscopy in 6 weeks!omgg,this acid needs to stop already!anyone else been down this road???

Everyone handles maintenance differently. We each have our own weight gain risk factors. Its important to know yourself. Will you need to remind yourself you had surgery? Is it healthy habits? Precautions? Simply eating less? Do whatever works for you to maintain and not go back to obesity.
Five years out, I never want to feel like my normal “obese” self before surgery. I feel better than normal after weight loss and maintaining in the 130's. I have no issues. I bounced back with minimal pain and I have no complications (Gerd, dumping or vomiting etc.)
Personally, I don’t need to remind myself. I have a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining has become habit/mundane. I don’t put much thought into it. I eat mainly healthy and indulge within reason. I give myself a ten-pound bounce range. If I gain, I go back to weight loss mode and work it off.

no regrets at all.it feels great to get off the yoyo dieting for good!!

ok,I have to say that I really wanted to do this surgery and im very happy I did it.but my husband is extremely over weight also and sorry to say I told him he needed to do it also because I was not going to do this by myself if he wasn't going to be able to work with me.in other words I told him that his health issues along with mine are not worth the food and that all we have in common the past few years is eating out all the time.its like everything revoves around food!so anyway he is scheduled for dec 3rd.im so happy because I really don't think it would last between us if we wernt in this together.its hard when your tryig to make yourself healthy and your partner doesn't.his health issues far outnumber mine and hes 9yrs yunger then me!i just couldn't sit back and watch him killing himself with all his issues while im trying to be healthy.so yes I ve him the ultimatum.get healthy with me or im out of here.

believe me I also had a very easy recovery too!i had one incision thru my belly button.surgery on Monday up and out driving by Friday.hitting crs all weekend too!i had no problems getting liquids,soft foods or Water down.it was portions that I couldn't do.couple teaspoons here and there.you will suceed.consider us very thankful that we had no complications!!

I had a prior history of gall stones so I had my gall bladder removed at the same time as the sleeve. I would recommend others do that as well. You really don't need your gall bladder.

Hope you're feeling well now. No, I have not experienced this. I've had a problem-free experience since my surgery 13 months ago. Maybe because I lost relatively slowly (as compared to others, but still faster than without WLS). Thanks for sharing - good information.

thanks all for your compliments!!I really do feel!its been 10 yrs since ive been at this weight!ive always struggled with diets.up and down like a roller coaster.praying that im off the roller coaster for good!!portion control is what its about.protien, first then veggies, then a carb that I can never meake it too!
