About Me

  • Biography
I am 34 and live in Texas with my husband of 5 years, and our almost 3 year old son. I have been overweight my entire life, and decided on the sleeve after two of my friends had success. I am nervous, but mostly excited about this journey.

    Nausea Anxiety Depression insomnia

Hey everyone. I just wanted to say that I'm almost 6 months post op, and the first month-6 weeks sucked! I would get so excited that next week I can have scrambled egg, then I would gag and get so nauseous even thinking about eating. I've battled depression and anxiety as well, and this process definitely takes a toll. Just remember to keep your Fluid intake up, Protein (shakes if that's all you can tolerate), and rest as much as you need. I was exhausted the first month, and even though I took 10 days off after surgery, I would have to take an hour break each day to nap because I was so tired. My energy came back after the first month, and I'm so glad I did this! I had several regrets that first month though, and couldn't believe what I had gotten myself into because I was so miserable. Just know that it's a phase and you will get through it! Go to support groups, talk to you surgeon/counselor, and just remember that it will get better!!!

    Wedding dress

I would just see how the weight loss goes. Actual wedding gowns sometimes take a month or more to come in if ordered. But if you want to wear a white dress off the rack from a regular store, it would be fine to wait, you just might not find exactly what you want. Good luck and congrats!!

Yes. My surgeon is Adam smith at Fort Worth Lap Band. I LOVE him, but wasn't as happy with the surgery center staff.
  4. Thank you! I've had a difficult few days. I've been really sore and it's difficult to move around. I was really nauseous days 1&2 but the cream they prescribed me worked well. I didn't get protein in the first day only sipped water. Today is 4 days post op and I got in 40g of protein and about 40oz of water.

I was sleeved on the 1st too, and today was the first day I felt somewhat normal. I was able to get in 40g of protein but not enough water. I've had a headache for the past two days. This is much more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I also had a hiatal hernia repair, and my gall bladder removed at the time if my sleeve. Oh and they discharged me only 6 hours after my procedures were done. I kind of wish I had stayed at least one night.
  6. Y'all I'm dying with this liquid diet! I've been on full liquids for 12 days and clear liquids today and tomorrow. Wednesday is the big day and I'm nervous, anxious and excited. And emotional for some reason. I just cried during Dirty Dancing Havana Nights. What the heck is wrong with me??

    Any fort worth tx sleevers?

Good luck tomorrow!! Keep us posted when you can! My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday and I'm so excited!!!
  8. I had a bad day today and was scared about this too. I'm 8 days from surgery and did so good the first 5 days. Ugh.
  9. I'm jealous of you that can have actual meals on the pre op diet. I'm 5 days in and I'm allowed 2 protein shakes, and any broth based soup for dinner. I can have sf jello, sf pudding, sf Popsicles and low fat yogurt. I'm so sick of sweet stuff!!!
  10. Hopefully I will need some in a few months
  11. My surgery is set for October 1 as well! I have been super moody and I'm only 2 days into the pre op diet. This could get ugly. . Good luck!!

    Any October Dates?:)

Mine is outpatient (as long as everything goes smoothly). I still have my pre op and nutrition appts tomorrow, and my egd is next Wednesday. Getting close!!!
  13. Yes, they will repair the hernia, remove my gall bladder and do the sleeve all at the same time. I'm nervous but so excited!!!
  14. I'm not sure I have any questions at the moment, but I may add you as a friend in case I freak out about something closer to surgery (anxiety). You have done great so far!!! I am hoping to be as successful as you at almost a year out!
  15. My insurance has approved hiatal hernia surgery and my out of pocket for the sleeve part of the surgery will be $3500. I also had to have a CT scan because of a spot that was tender on my side during my physical, and I have gall stones, so they will be removing my gall bladder during surgery too!
