Radar, I was there! Wearing my 5x uniforms and trying to put off buying new ones...finally got a few pairs of xxl yoga pants and found a few xxxl and xxl tops...still trying to wear some of the xxl tops...lol. Now fitting into L and M tops, and XL and L bottoms. I'll say this, I can buy stuff more easily, better selection, and better prices!

Almost 3 months post-sleeve. I've been on soft diet for almost 2 months. I'm finding that when I eat solids I feel full way faster and get quite uncomfortable after eating. When I have fluids or mushy foods I do not experience this. Has anyone else found this with solids?

Omg yes! The bony ass...who knew that was there? And the impossible to shave pits...super concave with loose skin to navigate...dangerous to say the least! And yeah, I can shave my lady garden, but I even have loose skin to deal with there!! Damn! At times I find the extra skin fascinating and amusing...but it sure creates some interesting challenges! A friend of mine is even more fascinated by it and loves to squish it...even calks me "squishy one" which makes me giggle.

I've chosen a plastic surgeon and will be moving forward with skin surgery in December! A flor de lis Tummy Tuck and breast implants will be my 30th bday present to myself!
It's been interesting to me people's reactions, opinions and concerns surrounding skin.
I've been told that it's not that bad and skin surgery isn't worth the risks.....have been told by a guy I was starting to get involved with that the skin was incredibly unattractive and the reason I'm single (screw you dude)...I have a family friend contemplating not getting the surgery because of fear of how the skin will look and feel after.
I absolutely get it. I've been told to stop losing weight by physician, yet I still feel fat because I have a good 10+ lbs of skin hanging from my tummy she expects to remove. That's a bowling ball!
I have transitioned my mind and gym towards becoming stronger and faster.....having more endurance and becoming more flexible.
I'm trying to focus on positivity....yes the skin isn't cute.....yes it's uncomfortable and requires compression tops to hold it in place (otherwise the gym is incredibly painful.....but at the end of the day it is absolutely worth it.
I am proud of my skin....it's a daily reminder of how far I have come and how hard I have worked. Do I want it gone, absolutely! Are there days it gets me down, of course. It's as much an emotional journey as anything else. But so incredibly worth it!
I'm excited that the countdown has finally begun for this portion of my journey.

Diagnosed with severe OSA in 2010 as part of the screening requirements for WLS. I wasn't surprised as I have snored terribly since I was a child, and from my teen years on have been told I stop breathing at times. Struggled horribly with daytime sleepiness. Used my CPAP religiously from the moment I got it. What an amazing difference that made! My known highest weight was 374. Surgery was Sept. 24, 2014 and I weighed 327. I am now just under 200. I stopped wearing my CPAP a few months ago because my mask is pretty thrashed, but also no longer fits! I had a sleep study done this summer as I was reluctant to buy a new mask if I no longer needed it. My partner told me I almost never snore now. The sleep study indicated my OSA is cured! Yay!

So, I am down 180 pounds since I started this journey...130 of that since being sleeved last September 24th. I set a goal weight pre-operatively of 180 pounds. I am 36, 5'8", and have a fairly sturdy frame (yay viking blood). I picked 180, wanting to be safely below 200 pounds. I am 15 pounds from that goal. I am now able to wear a size 12 and anywhere from a medium to large up top, and large to extra large on the bottom. Last time I was this size was before junior high! I am really happy at this size. I've got droopy skin and a squishy midsection yet, but my face, neck, shoulders, forearms and hands are looking almost gaunt (for me). I don't really mind if I stay this size, and I am actually a little afraid of getting too scrawny looking in the above mentioned areas. I am going to see my family doctor and talk with her about this, but am interested to know what those who have reached goal and are maintaining think. Should I keep fighting for this last 15, or should I focus on maintenance? Is this just a number I'm hung up on? Thanks!

Morbid obesity taught me that there's no free lunch. Some of the damage it did to my life/body is permanent. Examples are knee joint damage, a metabolism that now requires an insanely low caloric intake in order to lose weight, high blood pressure (still not back to normal even after dropping 100 pounds), losing out on career opportunities while I was young, losing decades of my life with the wrong partner because I had no confidence to make a change.
What I don't want to forget: how it felt to not fit in a rollercoaster test seat. How it felt to sit in a movie theater with my husband and an empty seat between us for breathing room. How it felt to squeeze into an airplane seat with a seatbelt extender and feel the looks of the passengers assigned to sit next to me. How it felt to binge eat until I got sleepy each night. Not having clothes that fit one season to the next. Avoiding social engagements. Hiding from cameras. Praying nobody would tag me in Facebook pictures. Not being able to ride a bike for even half a block. Not being able to walk the two blocks to church without feeling like I was having a heart attack. Being the mom on the college walking tour whose makeup was dripping down her face while struggling to keep pace with the group, yet being a block behind.
Changes just because of weight loss: I can breathe when I walk. I've dropped several daily medications. I can walk a 5k easily. I only get cortisone shots in one knee now, not two. I enjoy trying on clothes. Instead of my makeup sliding off my face from exertion, I'm often cold, and frequently put a sweater on, even in summer. I welcome random people sitting next to me in movie theaters now. My clothes still fit from LAST YEAR. My dog gets walks. I left the jerk.

Biggest shocker - I was at the VA with my husband. The bathroom had a full length mirror on the back of the door. I didn't recognize myself. Pants baggy, sagging everywhere and my shirt falling off my shoulders. I was so embarrassed to realize I looked that way! I had a play to attend that evening so I took a chance on JCPenny and actually found a nice pair of fitting slacks! First time I had shipped successfully in a retail store and not there largest size either! Shopped in my closet for a better fitting blouse and jacket. I felt like a new person that night. A great outcome from a most embarrassing moment.

I had surgery on 10/15. I'm down 51lbs! 21 prior to surgery and 30 since. HW421 SW400 CW370. I haven't really felt a huge difference yet, because my weight is still very high. It will take a lot before I begin to really feel the effects. I've had more good days than bad as I am still trying to figure out what I can eat and how much I can eat. I have every confidence this is going to work and I am going to get to my goal of being under 200 pounds. It does take a while to figure everything out! It's definitely a life changing experience but it's a change for the better.

Lallylocks reacted to glitter eyes in Any 12hr shift nurses out there?
I am a nurse and work 12 hour night shifts. It was challenging in the beginning to keep hydrated. Since the beginning I always overpack what I think I might eat (so I have a good variety) and I always have a ready to drink Protein Shake with me at all times. I rarely drink the Protein shake, but if I get super busy it's an easy way to get fluids, calories, and protein all in one.
I always drink Water on my drive into work and on my drive home- that helps with my Fluid intake.
Also, eat a high protein meal right before getting dressed. Then by the time I was ready to head out I could start drinking. That way I started my day with high protein. Then if my shift starts busy I am not behind on protein and fluids.
I think the key is to constantly be diligent and not get to distracted to eat and drink.
Sometimes I set timers on my phone.
It is definitely doable, just a little more challenging for us!!
    Good luck.

I say whatever makes you feel right in this world. I like to go by fitness and size pants. That is a good bellwether for me.
I don't like the old insurance charts. I like to be in a comfortable and most important. Maintainable. Size. That's my deal and I'm healthy and happy
