  1. So here I am, a month and a half post-sleeve...I've only lost about 30 pounds...thought I'd lose more. The scale sort of fluctuates from one day to the next, so I'm not sure what to think. I'm not really pooping much...going to deal with that soon! But I would have thought getting back into the routine of working, and working out, while following the diet, that I'd lose more. Why is it sooo slow?

    Is this a plateau?

Thanks ladies! My uniforms for work are pretty loose now...even the ones that were snug pre-op. So much so I can't find all my pockets sometimes. Lol. I know I could be putting on muscle now that I'm biking again after my 6 weeks away. I guess 30 in 6 weeks isn't bad. Lol.
  3. Roller coasters...travel...shopping for fun!

    constipation! !

There is...the generic name is docusate. Ask the pharmacist...maybe it's kept behind the counter. I think it tastes quite nasty. The people I've given it to sure hate it! Have you tried Miralax?

    Piercings?

I was able to leave mine in and tape over them. Just 3 lobe piercings both sides, and an industrial on the right which I put hoops in so nothing would snag the ends.
  8. So I had my first day back to work today. I've been off for 6 weeks, was sleeved Sept 24. The day went well, and I was happy to go back. There have been lots of little changes in my work place, and I had to give myself more time to do tasks, but think I will find my rhythm soon. I work as an RN in a nursing home. Today was only an 8 hour shift. I go back into my rotation in Monday for two 12 hour days. I'm a little nervous about those longer shifts. Anyone else work extended shiftsband shift work? How did you find them post-op?

Good luck Crystal88! Let me know how those 10 hour shifts go...it will help me plan for my 12's.

    First day back to work!

Wellll I was told 4 weeks...but I figured it was going to be so close to Halloween, which is a big deal for me, that I wanted to stay with my parents on the wedt coast just a little longer. Lol
  12. I had 7...looks like 2 weren't really used though.

    Bra size

I was worried about shrinking breasts! Mine were never that big, compared to the rest of me. But they have always been pretty nice. I had been wearing a 44 or 46 C preop for a long time. Bought myself a handful of new things and tried some new bras on a lark. Had to buy a 42 D. Yay! All it means is my boobs, which never got bigger as I did, have stayed relatively the same while I lost some fat from my sides and back.
  14. Buy some adhesive remover. I swear by it. Should be able to find it in a drugstore with a good first aid section.
  15. I smoke it occasionally and had it in the first month post-op. It doesn't affect everyone the same...I think that different strains likely bring on different experiences. I have never really gotten "munchies" from it, and definitely did not post-op. You can indeed ingest it in a variety of ways, or you can vaporize it. I guess whether it is a good idea for you depends on the health of your lungs, if you have ever partaken before, how strong your willpower is to stick to your diet.

    OVER 300 lbs

Hi! I have been waiting for WLS for over 4 years...I was sleeved Sept. 24. I'm 35, 5'8", a registered nurse. At my known heaviest I was 374. The balk finally started rolling in March when I followed up and had come down a few pounds since I was last seen (2 years ago). I kicked it into high gear and lost about 25 pounds before I got my surgery date. I started my pre-op diet one month ahead of surgery and lost about another 20. On the day of my surgery I was 327. Today I am 305. I'm excited to get my life back!
  17. I've been having trouble GETTING to sleep no matter how sleepy I am. Once I do I have a hard time waking up, but I was like that already! I think it's partly that I'm away from home and sleeping in a strange bed though. I am hopeful it will settle once I get back to my own home, my own bed, my sweetheart, and my fur babies.

    V8 juice

No kidding? Huh. It's been interesting learning about all the different meal plans both pre- and post-op.
  19. So I had a trip into emerg last week because I nearly fainted while in the shower. At 1 month post-op I wanted to make sure everything was ok. All my labs etc. came back spot on. The doctor seemed to think (as I had considered in my list of possible causes) that it was likely due to stimulation of the vagus nerve. Makes sense...something that used to in proximity to it is gone, but that allows an opportunity for different and new stimuli. I had used a rowing machine the night before, and worked my abs a bit more than I was maybe ready for. I'm also experiencing fleeting episodes of lightheadedness when I first stand up or bend down then get back up. Are others dealing with similar issues?
  20. I also did actually pass out once following rapid weight loss! Not something I want to repeat...scary as hell.

    V8 juice

I'd check with your nutritionist...juices trnd to be very calorie-rich for the amount of nutrients they provide...even veggie juice. I can't imagine you'd be able to have very much.
  22. Protein I'm sure I am ok...water...some days could be better...
  23. So, here I am one month post-sleeve...lost 22 pounds since then. But over the weekend went out with friends...tried to make smart choices...indulged a little bit, and am now up 0.8 pounds. I am very frustrated with myself. I find that if I am out to eat anywhere outside my home that it's a challenge to find foods that are soft enough, lean enough, low in fat/carbs/salt, and that I actually like (life long finicky eater). Seems like almost everything is so carb-heavy, so rich, and so salty! I also find it very hard to eat slowly enough and take small bites when I don't eat in isolation. It takes so long to eat, and I'm worried how I'll manage when I start back to work. Has anyone else dealt with these issues? How have you overcome them? I want very much to continue losing weight so I can be a healthier, happier, better me! Maybe 0.8 pounds doesn't sound like much, but it's the wrong direction, and I worked my ass off to lose it! I am hopeful some of this is Water retention due to salt, and maybe because I've not been getting my exercise due to being away from my exercise equipment while I'm recovering...I'm staying with my parents in the Pacific Northwest and rainy season is here...I so hate to walk in the rain. Thoughts?

Did your cycles become regular post op?

I was going to ask a similar question! I've had an irregular cycle since starting at the age of 10...I thought I had PCOS and in my 20's a doctor ordered an ultrasound and since no cysts were seen that was the end of the investigation. In my early 30's my period was regular for a while, but sometime in 2013 I stopped having periods. I still had spotting and cramping etc. I got worried and was sent to an OB/GYN who listened to my history and present complaint. He diagnosed me with PCOS, telling me an normal ultrasound does not rule it out. He suggested a Mirena IUD, which was put in last November. There were no real changes after that. This week, after over a year of no periods, a month post-op, my period has returned...I'm thinking due to weight loss?
  25. No banding here. Where I live it's not covered and is quite costly. RNY and VSG are though. Soooo, I opted for something that was covered. Plus I didn't think the band would work for me.
