The biggest thing that I look for, and am attracted to is confidence.
If a man lacks it, two things are going to happen.
    1. I'm probably not going to be that interested
    2. If I still happen to like the person, I'll take charge, as I am a naturally dominant woman. That's just who I am.
I love Alpha males. Not the chest beaters, those guys are really beta males trying to convince you they are Alphas. A true Alpha male (imo) is a man who knows how to create his own space. He is in control of himself, and his emotions. He is never desperate or needy. He is not the guy going around from table to table at a club looking for a woman. An Alpha male is the guy sitting alone, comfortable in his own skin, enjoying himself...he always draws the women to him. He is neither controlling or overly dominant, because he has total control of himself. He is not insecure or jealous either. Now that's exactly what I want. That kind of man, I feel safe with. Which for me, is very high on my list of needs, where a mate is concerned.
The smell thing....maybe I'm different, more animalistic, or primal, but I don't mind a little musk on my men. I like to be able to smell their natural body odor. I do not mean rank. But I don't need a soapy smelling apple/pomegranate in bed. You mask your true scent, and that's what makes me want a man more...his true scent.
    Very good questions @@OKCPirate
Uh oh, sorry I thought these questions were geared towards women, looks like I'm in the wrong room. Carry on with your discussion.

I think accountability is key to not only weight loss success but all addictions. As they say, You can make excuses or you can make progress, your choice.
Two weeks after surgery I wrote myself a letter admitting my terrible relationship with food. If you don't admit what gets you into bad situations, you are bound to repeat. I think the only way to get rid of demons is to admit they are there, and confront them.
When I read here about people who just ate candy or fried food, etc, I think that they have not yet faced the hardest part of this journey.. mental changes. Like Blizair said "Bless their Hearts".

I was just woke out of a deep sleep, which I don't get much of these days, by my nurse, asking me if I will give up my single room for another patient in ER right now. I was like....are you out of your effin' mind! Then as I woke up I realized what just happened...she wasn't really asking me because she's up here on the surgical floor, someone else put her up to it. *this is a nurse I really like too. So I demand to see the admin asshat that would wake a hospital patient at 3:30 AM to change hospital rooms, most likely for someone with better insurance, I mean come on what other reason could there be? Of course the Admin-Supervisor won't come to my room to talk to me, (scaredy cat) and says she'll just have to work something else out. How about, coming up to the floor, and waking a patient, to move them....YOURSELF? Now the funny thing, is that I don't even mind that they asked me. I think that could have waited until the light of day hit my ass. I have been blessed during my whole hospital stay with my own room, happy for that, and I'd love to give that to someone else, as I know I have maybe a day or two left here, tops. But come on, in the middle of the night. I'm up now, which pisses me off greatly, It takes so much to get comfortable enough when you have 6 big holes punched in your belly...it hurts anytime you move. Then to ask someone to wake me up. I know my nurse felt bad, and did not want to do that. I felt badly for her. So....complaint to come against the Admin. That Admin was stupid to mess with me, because I'll be damned if she uses a nurse that works as hard as mine does, as her little scapegoat. That's not right, you want to mess with people who go out of their way to take good care of me? You got another thing coming. I even said to my nurse, (who has been a primary care giver, I have had her every night shift, since I was admitted) does Admin not know that the internet eats these stories up? Come on! Yes, let's move a patient recovering from surgery in the middle of the night, out of their room, and into another room, and hope that's good for their recovery. All it is good for, is lining the hospital's pockets. Now I can't sleep, I'm all worked up, I'm sick to my stomach, had to request more nausea meds, and about to request a xanax so I can try to go back to sleep. Thanks asshat admin!

SkinnyDown got a reaction from lovincasey in Type 2 diabetes
    Hi @shayshay85
I had RNY Gastric Bypass surgery on May 20th of this year. I had some complications during my surgery, so I stayed in the hospital a week after surgery. By the end of that week I was no longer on 2 oral diabetes meds I previously took (Metformin and Glipizide), and 2 types of insulin (Minimum 4 injections daily). My A1c went from 9.2 pre-surgery, to 6.1 post-surgery.
I have another A1c test coming up on the 17th, and if it's 6.0 or below, my Dr. will consider my diabetes in remission. If I gain weight again, it's most likely I would become insulin resistant again.
I have had fairly normal blood sugar readings ever since. I can only speak for myself, but I do believe others here have had similar experiences, and are off all or greatly reduced dosages of their diabetes meds. I'm sure some of them will share their experiences too.
I never thought I'd see a day where I didn't have to give myself multiple injections. It's been wonderful, and I'm pretty close to not having to monitor my blood sugars anymore too! My Diabetes specialist told me that herself.
    Good luck with everything!

I wanted to say it here. Over 30 years ago I graduated from High School. I weighed 199lbs. That was the last time I saw the 100's.
Until today. I stepped on the scale and there it was....199 lbs.
I cried....tears of happiness, and relief, because that damn scale messed with me for days at 200lbs. and some odd ounces. LOL
I just really wanted to share this with everyone. Even if nobody responds. I'm so amazed at what I have done, so far.

I'm a punk rock, new wave, industrial, goth girl at heart, I don't care that I am almost 50. I am looking forward to wearing my collection of Doc Martens, and adding to that collection....and I want a great leather jacket, and tutu's and whatever other crazy combinations of weirdness I can find. I'm seeing all kinds of fun clothes I just can't wait to get into. I have never been afraid to wear what I wanted, or have whatever color hair I want, but it's going to be a whole lot easier as I get smaller and smaller. Wearing Docs with swollen feet and ankles, is just not fun. I really don't follow anyone else's fashion, I have my own style. As an artist, I also like the idea of some DIY fashion. I'm like Sid Vicious and Hello Kitty mixed up together. It's fun! I'm trying to think of what to do with my fat clothes....I might be able to make new fashions out of them! I don't know, but I'm just crazy enough to try. lol

Well it was a little early, by a few days, but the good news is, I am doing much better than I thought.
What a relief, talking to my Surgeon, getting reassured, and getting my questions answered! He made me feel a million times better.
I lost 10 lbs since I've been home, last Wednesday. My infection is doing great, he took me off the antibiotics which should alleviate my nausea and diarrhea. THANK GOODNESS!!! He prescribed Activia daily for me. To get my colon back in working order after these harsh antibiotics. I was glad to find no sugar added varieties.
My blood sugars have been so good, he took me off ALL my Diabetes meds. I stopped them myself at home, because my numbers were getting so low. No more Metformin, Glipizide, Humalog or Lantus! In his own words: " Your diabetes just left the building."
I can hardly believe it myself.
I had my Lasix reduced from 80 mg daily to 20mg daily.
I had my metoprolol dosage cut in half
I was cleared to start pureed diet when I feel comfortable in the next few days, and start my vitamins/supplements, which I purchased today at the pharmacy.
All in all, it looks like I am seriously on the mend. I was so glad to get my questions answered, and I feel a world of better now. I have some peace of mind, he told me I was almost out of the woods as far as leaks, and generally the only thing now that would hurt me is a trip to a buffet. LOL I gotta' say....food is the last thing I want. I'm just not interested in it. I eat because I have to, not because I am hungry all the time. Huge change for me.
Well...I just wanted to share this with you. Because I was kinda' worried beyond reason, and had to share all the very good news. I'm 12 lbs away from being in the 200's! I can't wait!
    Hope restored!

@@BigViffer I knew you were going to think I was speaking only to you. My post was to all the grammar complainers. LMAO
I never mentioned your name specifically. I don't think anyone would care to have a conversation with anyone who is that judgemental. I know I wouldn't. That's why I didn't even want to address you. (insert heebie-jeebbie noise here) As far as your "joke" aspect, there is always truth in jest. Intelligence does not equal outstanding grammar.
You stated in your "rant" that you don't come here for support, only information. Maybe you should just stick to reading what your mind can understand and decipher. Leave the hard stuff for the people here who really care.
Seriously, get over yourself. You aren't better than anyone. It's quite clear you haven't learned that yet in life. But as many love to remain asleep, joke away, non-self righteous one.

I am a broken record with this, because it's so obvious.
There is a faction of obesity and weight loss they just don't talk about. food ADDICTION. The real reason why people fail. Why I have failed time and time again through my life. Who in their right mind would gobble down an entire bag of potato chips? ME. A person with a food addiction.
I don't care what diet someone is on, or what kind of surgery they have had, the weight will not stay off, if you don't get help for your addiction. People don't get fat because they walked past the box of krispy kremes, and just smelled them.
Sure, it's good to know about the metabolism, but that's inconsequential I think, if you have someone eating an entire bag of potato chips. Trying to fill up a big empty space inside you is psychological. Not physical.
Here's a good idea, don't bring the crap into your house, and you can't eat it. Simple as that. If you know it's crap and you are feeding it to your family, that's beyond my help at this point. Why would you feed crap to your family?
Even the bariatric center I go to gives so little help with the psychological aspect of weight loss, and why a person like me ate their way up to 345 lbs. It's all in my head. That is what I had to fix...my head, because losing weight after surgery is easy. In my opinion anyway.
Just my 2c, my truth doesn't have to be yours.
