If they gave you pills I would crush one up and put it in one of your liquids and drink it. Let the most of it dissolve and then drink it.

Also if you have an ice pack you can put that on your belly will help a little

Do not take narcotic pain medication any way other than prescribed. Always take as directed.

I'm about 2.5 weeks post op gastric bypass.
Pretty much every night, after I've been laying down for like 5 minutes, I have to get up and take a Zofran due to the nauseous feeling coming over me. The Zofran helps tremendously but I don't want to have to take it forever if I can avoid it.
I had a Protein Shake several hours before bedtime, those are the easiest on my stomach.
Has anyone else had this problem? Did it go away eventually?

I had this pain especially when turning in bed and getting up from seated position. My pain only lasted 2 weeks, I'm completely pain free now.
-
It should be okay.
Signs of infection to watch for:
Fever, chills, increased pain, increased redness, foul smelling drainage.
A small dab of blood from accidentally scratching your incision is okay.
If you are still concerned, just contact your surgeon's office. No harm in that at all.

I stayed 2 nights. My surgery was afternoon on a Monday. That night when I woke up I was pretty out of it, didn't give a damn that I had a catheter in even though I had never had one of those. I had my pain pump and slept. Tuesday I concentrated on sipping Water and sleeping. Wednesday I went home after noon.
I'm glad that I had those 2 nights of supervision and help from nurses and their staff.

Leave a pillow in the car to have for the ride home to hold against your belly!

This was not a hard decision for me. I chose the gastric bypass because I needed to have the ability to lose the most weight, as I started at at least 150 pounds overweight. My surgeon and I never even discussed anything else, though he did ask me if I wanted to.

well I had the last of my preop appointments yesterday. They did an ekg, some bloodwork, pregnancy test etc. I met with surgeon and anesthesiologist and multiple nurses and the nutritionist. So now I am just counting down the hours! On Monday morning I go in at 750am and will have surgery at 950! My bff comes to visit tomorrow and we are going hiking and then I am clear liquids on Sunday. I can't believe it is almost here!
I just had my surgery done by Dr. Brethauer at the Cleveland Clinic on May 9th!

@kathyha Oh yeah, I forgot, I can have sugarfree popsicles, too!
It is hard, no doubt about it. Gotta have willpower!

Do you know of any good Portion Control plates and portion control containers for like lunches and where to buy them? This would be of a great help to me.

I'm currently on a 2 week pre op diet and can only eat chicken or beef broth, sugar free Jello, Protein Shakes, crystal light, Decaf black coffee, and decaf tea. That's it, no Soups,

I WISH I could quit Facebook because it really does take up too much of my time, and time I certainly don't need to spend sitting. However, I would feel completely cut off from my family and friends as most of them seldom talk by phone because they put everything on FB! It's a sad sign of our times. I am envious that you were able to.I am not on Facebook unfortunately. Got rid of it a couple years ago.

Yeah don't be too envious. Since I got rid of it I have like no friends. My fiancé and my family are the only people I hang out with. I don't mind, because I'm a loner anyway. But sometimes I do mind. *shrugs*. It's sad that Facebook is depended on for staying in touch.

@@LadyClair I also had a headache for like 36 hours straight at first.
Night of day 4 liquid diet - had a rough evening with sudden onset nausea. Drank a Protein shake, ate a couple Tums, and then went to bed early. Seems to have helped.

My surgeon asked me to take off 4 weeks from work. It is a possibility that I could go back sooner. We'll just have to wait and see!
Of course this will all depend on your medical history and current health, as well as how complex your surgery could end up being with possible complications.

My surgery is May 9th also! I would really like to be able to text someone while I'm in the hospital! Anyone game for texting?

Hi there, I'm hoping to find a female surgery buddy around the same age and surgery date as me.

I live in Ohio
I was hoping we could text back and forth about whatever.
Thanks.

I would also like to know how to use these. A couple weeks ago, I tried flavoring regular black coffee with it. It did NOT taste good.
Am I not doing it right? lol
Probably not the best question to ask, but here I go...

One of my meals was Taco Bell, the other a large amount of Chinese food!
Can't wait until I can eat some healthy version of Chinese food!
