Oh that is so sad. I can't imagine the grief they are going through. I will keep your brother, his girlfriend and you and your family in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. If they are meant to be married it will happen.

maudeispam replied to piercedqt78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good job Mandy! No reflux for me. I had trouble with indigestion, sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes and other weight related issues, and they have all disappeared and I still have a lot of weight to lose. -
Here's a big kick in the arse with my fred flintstone shaped size 10 wide foot! Get with the program girl you can do it!

I am at 9.5 ccs in a 10 cc band. I have good restriction but am quite far from my ideal weight. I'm not sure what will happen if I max out the band and the weight still isn't all gone.

Thanks Carlene. You made me smile and give me hope too.

July 2005 bandsters check in here....
maudeispam replied to piercedqt78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded July 29, 2005. I down 50lbs by my doctor's scale. 55by my homescale. I'm a slow loser. -
He can drop that baby off on our doorstep anytime. We would raise up in a normal christian home. I don't want the money or the fame, we just want a baby of our own. God willing we will have one of our own soon.

I have battled the constipation war since about a month after being banded. I've tried the benefiber, ground flax seed, upped my water intake, and much more. I do the milk oh mag, but it's all or nothing as stated above, don't leave site of a toilet. Ducolax tabs work too and they are small enough to pass through, even a tight band. I drink a glass (atleast 12-160z of 100% apple juice or that new plum smart juice daily). That seems to help! Best of luck to you.

Oh you lucky dog! I miss my old home state of Michigan and their Morel mushrooms. I don't know of any other way to make them, then flour or cornmeal and hot oil. Maybe try canola oil to make it healthier and limit yourself to just a few. Or send some to your other bandster friends...hint, hint! LOL

I shed a tear for the little angel. I also said a prayer. I hate to see anyone sick, especially a child. My cousin who is 13? is battling brain cancer right now, but he seems to be doing alright. Cancer is such a ugly disease. I have lost many family and friends to it.

Hubby and I planted 3 new rose bushes over the weekend, as well as a easter lilly. I planted 3 lemon fluff? bulbs yesterday. We will see how they do. Veggies will come later....too early here in SD.

As someone who grew up eating wildgame out of necessity. My parents could not afford, beef or pork products. They still eat a lot of wild game. I am against anyone taking away "everyone's" guns. I don't think high powered AK 47's and similiar weapons are a necesssity, but there are people who own them and use them soley for target practice. But then we have the criminals, criminals will ALWAYS find a way to get a weapon (whether it is a gun, knife, baseball bat, etc.) The guns don't kill, the idiots that use them do.

I wish we had more space for a garden here. I did plant a fewtomatoe plants last year and some cucumbers & radishes. It is still alittle early here in South Dakota to be planting outside.

Hiatal Hernia and BMI 50+
maudeispam replied to shoregirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI was well over 50 when I started. It is still high, but slowly getting it down to a healthy range. -
I live in SE South Dakota and we get our fair share of severe weather, including tornadoes. When we bought our home three years ago, we specified we wanted a basement. Either a safe room, root celler or traditional basement are all reasonably safe during severe weather. Just make sure you have a well stocked emergency kit, with a flash light, extra batteries, water, radio with extra batteries, blankets, and a first aid. www.ready.gov has a more extensive list of items.

can obesity be a cause of frequent constipation?
maudeispam replied to sasha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My stools were always hard prior to banding and the constipation has only gotten worse. I have done all the tricks, more water, shredded wheat, fiber, veggies, benefiber, ground flax seed, etc. Nothing seems to have a long term effect. Once a week I have to have a dose of MOM or take a dose or two of ducolax to get things flowing. -
I agree people are quick to judge. I too believe it is a jealousy thing. My MIL is very jealous of my weightloss. Everyone else is very supportive and understanding. I love it when people say, "God you have lost alot of weight!" Best of luck in your journey and reap the rewards.

Stool is Too Hard and Big - Help!

Ground flax seed mixed in any food or drink works well. But make sure to get plenty of hydration, because it will bind you too. -
Should Pets be more than Property?
maudeispam replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Our Basset is our son; because we don't have any human children...yet. He believes he is human and he gets treated better than alot of human children. He is so spoiled. I just wish we could get a tax credit for his vet bills, and his "needs". -
No Child Left Behind? How about adults?

As with anything I think the rich get the full advantage of the educational system. I also think the students who participate in sports, clubs, band, etc., have a better advantage as well. I felt all through my school career, I was pushed through the system, not really taught much, just pushed. To this day I believe I would have had a better education if my parents were rich, on the school board, or I participated in extracurcular activities. JMO. -
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Old Irish Blessing. Happy St. Patty's Day Everyone!

I will be banded two years come July 29, 2007. I had to wait a full year with my insurance too, but it has been well worth it. I have lost around 75lbs thus far and hope to continue to lose! Best of luck in your journey!

Hubby wanted Subway for dinner today so I agreed that sounded pretty good. We eat out maybe twice a month and very seldom is it fast food. Anyhow DH was still deciding what he wanted so I went ahead and ordered a 6 inch sub. I knew there was no way I could eat a foot long in one sitting and it would get soggy. Trust me it happened to me in the past. (My eyes were bigger than my pouch.) Well the young girl (slender) who took my order asked me 3 times if I was sure I only wanted the 6 inch sub. I replied 3 times "Yes I want the 6 inch sub." After that she asked one more time and I finally said "Yes that is all I can eat." She looked at me dumbfounded and then made my sub. When I got home I only ate 3inches and saved the rest for later. Why do people presume that large people eat alot? Even before my band I didn't eat huge portions, just the wrong things. People are rude.

Welcome to LBT! I'm not from Ohio, but I have plenty of relatives from that region of the country. I have family in the North Baltimore & Findlay area, as well as other parts of NW Ohio. I just wanted to say hello.
