LadyK44 reacted to jessjames in I FINALLY MADE IT TO ONEDERLAND!
I started this journey at 260 pounds, I was unhappy.. Depressed and at an all time low, I had my surgery on the 26th of May 2016.. It's a tiny bit over the 3 month mark and after a 2 week stall I can happily say the scale went to 198.5 pounds! I had a little cry earlier when I saw it.. I just wanted to say thank you to every single one of you who post on this site and share your advice and experience, it's helped me so so much!

Walking through a grocery store and seeing all the stuff I used to be able to eat. Waiting 45 minutes after eating to drink is a real challenge some times.

The loud gurgling noises my stomach makes after a meal, especially when in company, and the burps I never had when pre op, but now are frequent companion.
I am almost 6 months post op and hoping this will settle down ......
Funny though, after yoghurt Breakfast I don't have all these noises, only after a heavier Protein meal, like chicken, turkey or veal for dinner, even fish ..... I eat slowly, chew well, don't drink with meals (30 and 30 min rule) and it doesn't help.
Don't like sounding like a burping, gurgling bath tub!

I had the same experience with a friend. Saying you can do it on your own. You are not that heavy. Just be happy with who you are. I am happy and I am a good person but my heaviest was 291. I am now experiencing health issues that is why after 2 yrs I decided to do the surgery. I learned not to say anything to anyone else but family after all her comments. Unless, you are walking in our shoes people do not understand, but feel they have a right to make hurtful comments.
I congratulate all of us for becoming a healthier you!!!!!

At my heaviest weight I was 425lbs. Walking up one flight of stairs was an act of God. I swear all the time and was out of breath more times than not. I really thought that after 30 years of battling my weight that I would die just like that.
On December 3, 2014, I had RNY gastric bypass and what an amazing journey it's been. I'm down over 250lbs from my heaviest weight and 163 since my surgery.
I can walk, breathe, run and live freely. I always felt trapped in my body and now I feel like I can do anything! On November 6th I'm running the NYC Marathon and for a woman who needed prayer to walk up one flight it's a testament to how this tool can work if you really work it!
    Every day is a blessing!

For me, I will only tell in my new town if it helps someone else. I workout. At work, they call me "The Workout Queen." I do not feel the need to talk about my WLS. My life my way! I am becoming healthier person. Life moving forward. I do not want the nasty remarks.

I have made the mistake of buying the wrong suit twice now! Ugh!
If you actually use your suit to go into the Water all your jiggly bits float to the top once you lose your weight and have a lot of loose skin.
I found this out the hard way about 2 months ago when I went to the pool for some excercise and the girls kept popping out the top of my suit.
Before I knew it, I was literally being hit on by every old guy in the pool.
Dirty dogs had me backed into a corner.
So now I am looking for a suit that will not allow the girls free at all and no tankinis for me because they lift up in the Water.< /p>
I want a one piece that has a little skirt because I have a lot of loose skin and loose butt. I need something that will hide these features at least a little.
LOL, oh the issues we have whether we are fat or now thin and jiggly....LOL

Thank you all for YOUR words of support and compassion. Yes, even at five years out, I still feel the "warmth" of compassion.
My journey is a wee bit different that most. My SO was NOT supportive and did NOT want my to have WLS. He committed suicide while I was on the operating table. When I found out, I signed myself out of the hospital and never mentioned my sleeve again until Jan.,2016. During those years I fought against my sleeve and my body and still lost 80# plus.
After years of therapy, I am back on track and have now lost over 120#. I have learned to work "with" my sleeve, to "listen" to my body and to take care of "me".
I consider myself finally finishing the journey that I started five years ago, but made a wrong left turn.
There are many members who can tell you all about the "good times", how to do the right things, eat the right things, how not to do this and that. Doing everything the right way--the way it is supposed to be.
That is wonderful when your life is running smoothly---which I sincerely hope it does for each and every one of you.
I hope what I can offer you is that there is always a way to turn back onto the right path. Your sleeve will be there---waiting to help you---to work with you. Become best friends, work together--listen to one another.
I hope to be able to encourage folks that have for what ever reason have had their enthusiasm wilted--their rainbow's glow tarnished.
I can only speak for myself:
Grab my hand-----I will NEVER let go. I promise.
    PS:
Anyone one of you should feel free to PM anytime. I promise not to be post op cranky for too much longer.

Hey all, One year ago today was the day I decided to make the decision for a healthier lifestyle. Although my sleeve surgery wasn't until October I decided that it made more sense to start getting used to watching what I ate rather than making a mad dash until the last minute. So fast forward one year and I feel compelled to share with you my progress thus far.....197 pounds lost...before pic 393 pounds and currently 196

After two years, I do not feel the need to explain why I share a plate with my sleeved husband. Mostly, we just laugh when they say "Are you sure that is all you want?" It is usually an appetizer!
When we get good service the tip is also good!

I tend to take a non-verbal approach with idiots like that.
A deep breath.....inflated chest cavity.....cross my arms and give 'em a squinty eyed stare. A slight nod of the head back and forth is my clue to them not to push things further.
Some don't get it though.....they thrive on being stupid.
One....a younger upper manager at work (who's on the fast track for world domination with my employer)......kept on badgering me about my weight.
The last time he did it was at the salad bar in our cafeteria.
I had just finished a fast lunchtime workout in the gym and was grabbing a Protein loaded side salad from the bar. Minding my own bidness.....just trying to get what I needed.....grab and go.
So he comes over and asks me, "Well, well, well.....look who we have here. Salad huh? So, guy, what are you up to now ? What's your weight up to now ?"
He keeps on with this while getting my eggs and chicken chunks.
I should add at this point that he's one of those pencil necked nerdy types who thinks that cross country running is the only fitness that matters.
Again with the questions about my weight.
I turn to him....lean over so nobody else can hear and say, "Why don't you ask your wife what I weigh, Michale.....she's felt all of it".
Then I go back to my salad.
He slammed his dayplanner down on the counter and made an odd noise with his throat and walked off.
We have yet to speak again.
A little more to the story is that this guy is on an unprecedented career trajectory.....My boss reports to the person that reports to this guy.
His wife, who I've never met, is a saint of a woman. She's very active in their church and plays in the local symphony. They are puritans and live a clean life and are great family people.
I probably should've handled the situation differently....but I'd enough of his badgering.
Clearly he pursued the matter because I was asked by a member of HR about any "conversations" between us. I couldn't recall any real specifics and stuck with that. Seemed to satisfy them.
I'm probably screwed, but I'll certainly not be bothered by his stupidity again.....at least not in the area of my weight.
