LadyK44 got a reaction from Triedit in Best Tasting Chicken Broth?
Two days after my surgery the hospital gave me lukewarm chicken broth. When it touched my lips I was feeling well enough to go home. I almost walked home. At home it is low-sodium Campbell's with white pepper.

First congrats. Secondly, I agree it seems a little drastic to have another surgery for 15-20lbs. Look, I am not the best sleeved person. However, I believe in hope and the power of choice each day. In August my sleeve will be 2 years old. I am still learning how to get the best out of her. I spent 13 years killing my body with my food choices. Only in the last 30 months did I truly start to use my mind before eating. It sounds like you can do this just by utilizing your greatest tool "your mind" in conjuction with your second greatest tool "your 6 year old sleeve." But, It is your choice and body. Best to you and keep reaching out.

Drinking Water not a problem. Sleeved 08/01/2014. Dense meat will aways be a problem. I cannot eat heavy sauces with Pasta at all. That is a blessing. I am still moving forward towards my goals.

My surgeon never told me to take Vitamins. I did read about them in the information that came from my dietitian pre-op. I moved out of state 1 1/2 years later. Although, his office never called after my first post-op appointment. My surgery went great. I had to take it from that point. Maybe because it was just before the holidays.

I suck at taking my Vitamins. My D is low. I need to get my prescription this weekend. Today, I am having carb withdrawal from this 5 Day Pouch Test. Lol But, I am not at all hungry. I even passed on my favorite cake at a work party. They do not know I am sleeved. They know that working out is part of my lifestyle.

Sure, I think it is a great idea for you to join us. We can support each other. I think we should all make a commitment to check in at least once a weekl? I truly believe the support will help us reach our goals.

Thank you. Yes. My goal weight is 147-150. I am 5'6" as this morning I am 200 starting weight 270. It kinda hurts to write that. However, let"s do this. I work out 5 days a week. I just need to get off the carbs. The last few months I starting drinking due to stress (weekends). That stopped as of last weekend. I am happy and see hope. Let us keep eachother accountable. Starting over for me is hard. I was sleeved in late 2014 (age 44). I have lost 67 pounds as of 1/17/2017 that have stayed off. I need to lose 57 more pounds to be at my goal weight. I had a lot of things going on. I left me behind.
I want to be healthy. For me that equals, working out, planning and recording meals and with no more excuses. This is hard. I am going to get it done. My last start over. I will get my goal as my health is vital. I am open to any suggestions positive . This is truly humbling.

Good morning, BP Campers. Thought I'd stop in for a a quick visit and update. I started my preop diet 3 years ago today. I always consider this my anniversary, rather than the surgery date. Here's a recap of my journey so far.....
Year 1 - the year of losing all of my excess weight (100 pounds), dozens of NSVs, and a new wardrobe. By far, the most exciting year. Even the month of liquids, 6 weeks of diarrhea and 2 insanely painful gallbladder attacks couldn't put a dent in my enthusiasm. It was all so new and fun and easy. Life was great and I was invincible! Year 2 - the year of finding out life still sucks no matter what size you are, losing my best friend to suicide, sinking into a deep hole of depression and finding that I could no longer rely on my old friends.....food, alcohol and cigarettes. Just struggling to get through each day with really no desire to. Two more gallbladder attacks which I finally put an end to with a long overdue cholecystectomy. Despite a complete breakdown of my emotional stability, I was surprisingly able to maintain my weight loss from the 1st year. I held onto the fact that what I put in my mouth was one of the few things I could control at that point. Year 3 - the year of emotional healing (well, at least a start in that direction) with a grief therapist, testosterone replacement and an antidepressant. Finally able to crawl out the darkness into a somewhat bearable existence. My latest breakthrough is I actually said yes when asked out on a date about a month ago. Considering my introvert personality and swearing off relationships almost 20 years ago, this is an extraordinary step for me. We've been out 1/2 dozen times and I'm actually enjoying it. Who knows what Year 4 will bring. But I've definitely come to realize as time goes on, everything has become less and less about surgery and weightloss and more and more about life. I maintain my weight the same way I lost it....80+ grams of Protein, 100+ ounces of Water, low carb, balanced diet including veggies, fruit and whole grains. I pretty much eat whatever I want but I make smart choices when it comes to quantities. No tracking, no measuring, just mindful eating. I am diligent about keeping any regains in check. I've got too much invested, both financially and emotionally to let a 1-2 pound regain turn into 10-20 pounds. I have labs done annually and follow a Vitamin regimen based on the results. I don't have an exercise routine, just a very busy, active life. Bottom line is a successful WLS result is not rocket science. Whatever you had to do to lose weight is pretty much what you need to do forever. If you can't control sliders and trigger foods, they WILL lead to regain. If you don't make the psychological adjustments and permanently change your habits and behaviors, you WILL regain. It's totally up to you whether or not your surgery becomes just another failed diet. Don't be afraid to seek professional help with the mental side of it. I finally did...thank goodness. Good luck to the newbies. Congrats to the veterans.

    Damn you guys...
I shot the piss out of my scale and it felt great! Fifty rounds through my .357 up in the woods making that piece of crap dance! Ahhhhh!
One of my other duties at work is that I teach defensive driving. I was teaching a class 2 days before my pre op diet and I was stressing using mirrors while backing not just the camera. I always stress that the back up camera is a tool, the mirrors are a tool, keeping your eyes moving is a skill and a tool, getting your happy butt out of the seat and looking behind you isn't you lacking skills, it is using your brain as a tool.
Then came my training line that hit me right between the eyes, "a mechanic doesn't just use a screwdriver, he uses every tool available to him to get the job done right".
I went out and bought another scale. Not a fancy thing that I hate like my last one that I had to type with my toes to get that damn thing to work but a simple one that I step on it, it gives me a number and I tell it to piss off.
My doctor can still kiss my already saggy ass though. I still have no desire to have my number defined in the scrolls of time.
