    Any one from Texas?

Hi, I'm a 34 yr old mom with 2 boys (9&10). I'm from Milwaukee, WI but recently moved to Houston, TX. I had surgery October 23rd, 2014. Hay have you been able to find any support groups in the Houston area! I am in the process of moving to Houston. I am originally from from MI then GA next FL to land in TX (Houston near Katy). I was sleeved 8/1/2014. I have family in the area but my husband and I are the only ones sleeved. It been a good journey!
  3. When your old underwear fits like tennis shorts!
  4. As a woman, what has worked for me is sharing and not comparing. You will have an health event that many other people will never even be able to complete and it is life changing. Now add that you get to do this with someone you love in the same house ; it is a true gift. Don't worry just work at making good food choices. Best of luck to you both!
  5. My husband and I are both sleeved 5 weeks apart! We have kids ages 12/13 at that time last year! To our kids we have what they call "baby bellies." We don't eat much and encourage each other constantly! It added to our already close marriage! We are blessed and happy! (Aug/Sept 2014). It is not easy being sleeved but it has been a great thing for the both of us!

    Stomach Side Effects?

I dumped one time and I will never eat deep fried beer battered fish and fries again in life. I thought I was dying my eyes water, my stomach hurt, and I just wanted to die. I believed I was having a heart attack.
  14. Congratulations for starting the journey toward improving your health. I think it's great that you're looking for support early on. Continue to reach out and know that others have been where you are right now.I have been sleeved for 14 months! It's not been easy but I would never change a thing!

    Frustrated

It takes time. My insurance require a six-month diet, psychological evaluation, EKG, and a general physical. The total time for this process was eight months. My doctor told me that only 40% of his patients actually reach the goal of surgery. I'm proud to be part of the 40%! My Husband and I are living our sleeved lives happily and successfully.
  16. Congrats to you on your success so far! Keep moving forward and staying positive! This is truly a lifetime journey.

    Am I at goal?

You and your doctor make the best decisions about your health! Public approval can be dangerous and destructive. This is about your health and maintenance. Make sure you are in a good head space and live forward!

    The beginning

Good for you! There will always be people who don't understand. That is normal and not your problem! You have gotten a tool that will help you improve your health. You did it for you and it does not matter what anybody else thinks. Congratulations and I hope you heal quickly.

    Am i kidding myself?

It gets better! Sip, sip, sip, heal and walk. This is the start of a new life!

    Feeling depressed

Give your self some time! Like said before, it does get better.
  22. Several of my friends/family in health and fitness told me the same thing! It is a pain in the butt to have to defend my WSL lifestyle. Again, when I move it will be on a need to know bases only! I will not lie! However, I don't want to spend the next 40 plus years taking about this medical procedure unless I am getting paid. Lol
  23. LadyK44

    Im so miserable

You are normal! Reality is that this is a new time in your life. You get to choose what happens next. The positive is you are selecting to seek support and help which is great! Now, find away to reach your goals! The medical part is done now is the time for healing and getting healthy! This is not easy but keep it moving. Congratulations and never give up! It does get better and the sun will come up!
