Great advice from Bob, I did exactly the same during my hospital stay only thing I did different was I took my Water with me and sipped every few minutes. This seemed to make it go faster as they require you to drink two oz of Water every fifteen minutes. Good luck and keep us posted

taylorj7 got a reaction from itsjuan in New on here. Surgery is on for tomorrow morning.
You're going to do great. I can't tell you how many times I thought about backing out. After my Initial interview I asked my Doctor if it was OK to start drinking one or two shakes a day while I began my exercise program, I was losing pretty rapid, then when I started my two week Pre op diet the weight came off even faster. I was at the point where I said Heck, If I can do this why bother with the surgery. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, I thought how many times have I lost a few pounds only to put it back on. So two weeks post-op I can tell you I went shopping yesterday and my pant size is down from a 44 to a 38!! it's a no brainer. Good luck, get a good night's sleep and get ready for a new and healthy life. Keep Us Posted.

Had them for about two days! Keep You Pillow nearby incase you have to cough or sneeze!!! I Only needed pain meds for two days. Take your time and walk, walk, walk, as soon as you are able. Hope this Helps. Best Of Luck.

So there will be multiple answers to this question depending on your comfort level with certain foods. I had the sleeve and the guidelines given to me were : minimum 60 grams of Protein a day, monitor carbs and keep below 50 while you are in a weight loss mode. Fats fall in place if you are following the other guidelines. Increase calories, Protein and carbs as needed to meet the requirements of increased activity and exercise.
I use sugar free foods and drinks. I do not add sugar to things I eat. I personally do not have any problem with artificial sweeteners. They are prevalent in a lot of drinks that I consume. The guideline regarding sugar was that any food should not contain more than 12 grams of sugar per serving. I read labels and know what is in the food I eat. I could care less about Desserts or snack foods like chips etc. "fat free" foods are usually a signal for me to avoid them. Good fats are needed by your body to function. I usually get fat in my diet through nuts, Peanut Butter, olive oil or eggs.
I do not avoid fatty foods but I am careful not to eat too much of it, such as bacon or sausage. I make sure it fits into my daily requirements. I use My Fitness Pal to track food intake on my phone and that allows me to make adjustments as the day progresses depending on what I have eaten.
I think that you will be able to eat most anything you want. As long as it fits your daily intake requirements and you watch the amount of food you eat. There is no reason to be afraid of some of the diet foods, just know what is in them and wether they fit into you lifestyle change.

I am seven months post surgery. I just hit my goal weight, 132 pounds lost. Right now I am eating 1100-1200 calories a day.
Breakfast-Protein shake (some combination using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate Splendor or strawberry Sorbet, Chike Iced coffee, PB2, Syntrax Fuzzy Navel. Once a week I will have scrambled eggs with a whole weat english muffin.
AM Snack- String cheese, Babybel cheese or Fage Greek Yogurt, Jerky
Lunch- 3-4 ounces Canned chicken or Shrimp, mixed with Light mayo and celery, wrapped in lettuce leaves. Deli Ham rollups, leftover dinner from the night before
PM Snack- Quest Protein Bar, Almonds, Peanut Butter with celery or a few ritz crackers, apple or berries
Dinner- 4 ounces of Protein (lot of fish: salmon, swordfish, tilapia, crab cake, shrimp, scallops) but also steak, chicken, turkey, pork and hamburger. and 1-2 ounces of vegetables.
I really have no desire to eat dessert. On occasion I will have an Unjury Protein Peanut Butter Cup. I have had a couple drinks, usually bourbon. Red Wine does not sit well with my sleeve at all and I usually avoid it.
Fluids: Water, flavored water, propel, Vitamin Water, crystal light

My nutritionist said to try and stay under 10 sugar carbs per serving and preferably non-fat. I actually like Wal Mart's Great Value brand non-fat/unflavored greek yogurt. It's 9 sugar carbs per cup and I never eat that much in a sitting. It's also a great sour cream substitute.

I didn't worry about sugar or carbs other than to make sure to keep my daily carbs under 60. I ate a lot of Fage plain with Peanut Butter, almond butter, PB2, Protein Powder stirred in for flavor. I also ate a lot of Stonyfield Farm Greek nonfat, Chobani Simply 100 (all natural and it has lots of fiber), Siggis Icelandic yogurt, Trader Joe's nonfat Greek yogurt, and Voskos Greek yogurt. Also some Dannon Light & Fit and Yoplait Greek 100 but not as much just because of all the artificial stuff in them.

I am a fan of Fage 0% plain. I added a touch of honey in the beginning. Now, 14 mos out, I add walnuts and diced fresh fruit. Yum!

I experienced everything that you are.. My doctor told me that the gurgling is completely normal. Mine has not gone completely away ( 2 mo post op) but it has improved a lot. I have seen a lot of people that mention sleeping on a recliner because that's the only way they can get comfortable. Good luck! And happy losing!

I really didn't have any problems once I got home. I live alone, I had my Protein drinks, broth and popsicles. Other than not being allowed to lift over 5 lbs, I did the normal things.
sleeping was a hassle - I had to sleep propped up like in a hosptial bed, couldn't lay on either side without feeling a pulling sensation inside.
I didn't drive for about 7 days, until I felt sure the meds were out of my system. I was back at work on day 11.
You can watch my Youtube videos (link in my signature) you can see me being wheeled back into my hospital room right after surgery and a lot of other videos where I answer some of the most often asked questions I see posted on this forum.
