Maybe not addicted so much as wanting what you can't have. That is human nature unfortunately. I could go weeks without Breakfast and as soon I couldn't have food for breakfast, I wanted breakfast. Stay on course as much as you can for safety purposes, but remember that we are human. And the flesh is weak. BTW, I am 11 days post op and I struggle too. Especially because I have 7 people who do eat in my house. Good luck and I will pray for your strength :-) We are all in this together!

    your not the only one
I hate to even tell you all how bad I cheated in the beginning
within the first 10 days I was eating hard boiled eggs and tuna
14 days in I was eating salad and a turkey wrap
I was so worried and still am to some extent
I have never once vomited since the surgery but more than once have overeaten
For me the surgery hasn't removed my appetite
Now I find it's all Portion Control
That and I completely cut sugar out of my diet
No more sugar in my coffee , no more soda , Cookies , ice cream etc
There's still sugar in everything but I'm very conscience of what I'm putting in now
Small meals , really is all I'm able to get down
BUT the good news is the weight has come off , not as fast or as dramatic as I would like
Surgery was June 9th and my weight was 308
3 days shy of 3 months and I'm down to 250
When I say not dramatic I'm a man that looked 9 month pregnant
I had ( and still do ) a HUGE belly
The weight I've lost seems to have mostly come off my rear end
Not really where I needed to lose so much
I have a feeling I'm at that 3 month stall I've read so much about
So don't feel alone or to worried
In my case I was bound to lose weight being the size of meals I can eat and cutting out the sugar

I had the sleeve surgery on 8/22. I'm on the full liquid diet. No pain, feel almost normal. I've lost 18 lbs, but that all happened in days 1 through 10. I've been stalled a week. I relate to some of you who feel it is frustrating to be doing everything right, but not seeing the scale go down. The nutritionist says the stall is due to my body not getting enough calories, so it's in starvation mode. I'm to switch to a more caloric Protein powder and start making heartier shakes, so I'll venture out to the shops today and get one.
Other than the stall, everything is fine. Walking between 2 and 3 miles per day. Just ready to start losing weight again. Good luck to all.

Hi Guys, I was sleeved on 8/6/14, Down 15 Pounds since surgery. Surgery was flawless had zero pain only took pain meds the 1st night home and slept in the recliner for two days. Guess I was one of the lucky ones! The Phase I, II, and III and shakes weren't as bad as though, although I wouldn't want to do them over again. Well the party's over, I am back to work tomorrow *^%(*#@!! but cant wait to get back in the Gym and Pool.

I am now on purée and I can drink without sipping but can't eat too much. The most I eat is 600ish cal and still in a stall as they call it. But still hanging in there and love the support here. ????

I was sleeved on August 25th also. I went home from the hospital on full liquids at my post op appt my NUT wanted me to stay on them until Monday. Well I had eggs. I have had them scrambled and then i ate the egg white of a boiled egg. I cannot actually eat an entire scrambled egg. But it sure does taste good. Lol. This Monday she said I could start puréed, which I cannot do, but I can eat the oatmeal that they allow on that phase. The following Monday it will be on to soft foods. That will give me more variety for sure. I actually feel like I am cheating when I eat an egg because I have been on fluids since 10. Days pre op, it feels like I am not going to lose weight if I eat anything at all.

Hope everyone is doing well.

    Well thank goodness!
I was sleeved August 18th, and was losing weight pre-op with the three week liquid/shake diet and then post-op...but this last week I've lost zero...nada.
It was a real relief to read that some others are having a stall at about the same time as me so I won't freak out now.
I'm onto pureed and soft foods...Tim Horton's chili and Soups for lunch at work are a staple. (I only am able to eat half, so one bowl does me two days). The hardest things for me are lack of energy and nausea every time I drink fluids. I got my prevacid doubled several days ago and it seems to be helping a little bit with the nausea so yay!
I think a big reason why I'm so tired is that I was asked to stop taking Iron supplements three weeks pre op...so this has been almost five weeks without it. I go really low with my Iron if I don;t take sups so I'm hoping next week to get the go ahead and start taking it again. Also, a big part of my regular diet before was raw leafy greens...kale/spinach/swiss chard. I miss my greens.
All in all though, in good spirits. I was back at work within a week, and glad to be back. I'm one of those weird people who actually loves to go to work.

I am 11 days post op and walk 4 miles. My doctor said just increase my walking as I feel I can tolerate it. I tired yesterday to exercise on the excercise bike very slowly. That was a NO GO!

Hi everyone ... Was sleeved on August 27... Just made it into the group.. Lol!! All has gone well. Went home with a pain pump for two days... Never took a pain pill... Had a hard time the first few days getting my liquids in... And fatigue... Have been going to sleep at 8am!! sleeping until 4... Which is a record amount of sleep for me!! However I am back to work so I am probably a little more tired from that. So 10 days post op.... What do you think can I go from my 2 Mile walk? I am feeling like I need to get out there and exercise however not sure about the time frame . Love this thread! Alyce

Hello. Sleeved on Aug 11th. I have been very fortunate....no pain, no problems. My doc has his patients on 4 weeks of full liquids....ugh!.....so sick of it. Can't wait to chew! They said that on my 4 week apt I will be able to start eating....that's next Tuesday the 9th. Can't wait! I am also on a stall. I lose 2lbs and then gain 2lbls then lose 2lbs and gain 2lbs.....and my eating (drinking) has not change one bit. So, I am trying to avoid the scale right now. The everyday weigh in has been frustrating so I plan to stay off of it until my next apt with the doc.

I was sleeved on August 25th. Things have gotten much better as I had a rough time immediately post op. I am just real weak some days and I do have a pain still from one incision, if I wear the binder they gave me it is much better. Cannot wait to hit Onderland I have 22 more pounds to go. We have a trip planned for Vegas on my birthday in December and I am hoping to get i to an outfit I bought as my inspiration outfit to wear to the TERRY FATOR show. I would be happy to be in a regular old large size. Lol. Today I had a scrambled egg and that filled me up. Still struggling a little to get in my fluids but doing ok on my Protein. . BTW this thread is a great idea!

    Hello
I was sleeved on 122/23/13. Start weight was 362, surgery weight was 320 and current weight is 223. I am 6'3 and 58 years old.
Eight months post surgery. I am eating 1100-1200 calories a day. Currently I am doing cardio, mostly elliptical and walking. I start at the gym next week, need to step up the strength training and will probably need to up calories and carbohydrates.
I do drink a Protein shake each morning, and eat 3 meals and usually 2 Snacks a day. I try to focus on dense Protein at meal time as this keeps me satisfied for 3-4 hours at a time. My weight loss has been steady, with no stalls that I remember. I think the reason for that is I would increase calories every time weight loss slowed down.
At three weeks post op I was still on a liquid diet due to a complication. My surgeon defined soft foods as anything I could completely chew to mush. I ate a lot of fish and seafood early on. Now I can eat anything I want, just in smaller quantities.
i don't think I had any hair loss, but didn't really notice anyway! Sounds like you are off to a great start! Keep up the good work!

You just have to learn to adapt and be aware of your limitations at first. I am now 6 months out (which flew by) and no longer am having any energy level issues. Of course the almost 100lbs. lost is the key!!!

You will need to set your "active life" on hold and give your body a few weeks to heal. If you are not careful you will damage yourself and really have to put things on hold for a much longer time. Three to five weeks is really a very short period of time. Some folks claim to be raring to go right out of the gate but then I have not heard how that works out in the long run for them.
I took a leave of absence for 6 weeks but at four weeks I felt ready to go back to work where I do a lot of lifting, loading and unloading at a very fast pace. Then the Constipation really hit me sevral times and now I'm glad I did not go back to work at 4 weeks. But then again, I am almost 66 so, age may be a factor.

I had the same worries. Fortunately, the body is smart enough to find its energy equilibrium and efficient to figure out how to maximize energy from the new paradigm. It works itself out.
