That's great! My husband is scheduled for December. How'd everything go for you and your wife? Smooth recovery, hopefully? I'm starting to get anxious now that it's 1 week away. I just want it over with, I'm growing impatient on this liquid diet. The shakes are tolerable at best. Oh well, only 6 more days

I'm exactly the same way. I have never passed so much gas in my life. It's like I've been holding it in for the past 30 years and now it's time to let loose! BTW.....I'm almost 7 weeks out....

Hi, First off Welcome and good luck on your Journey. I am over two months post op and just yesterday I had a 1/2 of a glazed doughnut. I was suprised that nothing happened, I know it was wrong but Man did it taste great!! I hope I'm not setting myself up for failure. Let us know how you're making out.

as far as so much gas passing - ohhhhh that was you and wifey last night???
i hear nose plugs are on sale 2 for 1 thru november
most people do have to deal with gas
i was amongst the lucky ones that never had gas issues
i "think" 3 months might be excessive
call your doc or NUT
tell him what is going on
at the end of the day you should always listen to your doc/NUT
btw - i love it when i see relatives having WLS together
support/eating must be terrific
since you didn't mention otherwise, everything else has been going well?
good luck
keep on keepin' on
kathy

taylorj7 reacted to Rogofulm in Question about fluids
I bought two 24-oz Tervis Tumblers (and handles) at Bed, Bath & Beyond -- one for home and one for work. About 45 minutes minutes after drinking my morning Protein shake, I fill one with Crystal Light (or generic) sugar-free iced tea and sip it all morning, finishing it up about 30 minutes before lunch. About 45 minutes after lunch, I fill another tumbler of tea and sip it all afternoon, finishing well before dinner. About 45 minutes after dinner, I fill one more at home and sip that all evening. Voila! 72 ounces of Fluid, plus whatever coffee or hot tea I may drink during the day. I think the trick is to build it into a schedule. Weekends are a harder because the schedule is more squishy. But I really try to stick to 24oz after Breakfast, after lunch, and after dinner. If I'm running errands, I bring a tumbler with me in the car. If I go to a meetings or social event, I bring my big, gaudy tumbler with me. Good luck! If you tie it to a schedule, it's much easier...

Found the samething, love the gym over home. I zone out at gym and it's my place to take care of me. That is one part of my day I use to hate but now I go to unstressed myself and love seeing the results each weigh-in.

taylorj7 reacted to B-52 in Does a gym REALLY make a difference vs working out at home?
I have an elliptical at home that I paid $3 thousand for, used....it is the exact same models they use at the gym....
However,
I prefer to go to the gym, and I perform better there. Being around other people sets a pace, an example or something that makes me want to do good....
When I am on the treadmill running, and there are people on my right and left 1/2 my age, I am motivated to keep up with them, and in some cases I will not end until after they do...going way beyond my usual time/distance.....

taylorj7 reacted to F_it in Does a gym REALLY make a difference vs working out at home?
I used to NEED to go to a gym for a workout because at home, with kids (and hubby) hovering and needing my attention there was no way for me to get motivated enough to actually do anything with all the distractions. Plus i yearned to jump into a pool, and wasnt yearning anything at home lol. So the gym became my escape and because i had to invest the money, and time (and prep to leave without kids and hubby feeling like lost newborn turtles) to drive there i made sure to make it worthwhile.
But last year i had a third turtle i mean kid :-p and things can get so hectic sometimes and the gym was seeming like more and more of a mirage.. I didnt want that to be an excuse anymore so lately ive invested in a firmer attitude towards "mommy's alone workout time" AKA "dont you dare call me for anything in the next 90 minutes unless theres blood involved"
AND an awesome gym quality elliptical machine, some weights, yoga ball, and that awesome album from DISCLOSURE. I dont miss the gym anymore (except maybe that pool) because im now working out harder and longer than I ever have at the gym, and dont have a drive home to deal with afterwards! Sounds like you have plenty to workout with at home, and you just need to see if you can create an alone-zone that is motivating enough for you. Good luck :-)

taylorj7 reacted to Packerfan61964 in Does a gym REALLY make a difference vs working out at home?
it's basically what you prefer to do. I know for me, going to the gym is a better option because he makes me accountable. I know if I pay the $40 for the gym membership, that I will go because I just cant afford to throw away the money. And plus, the gym offers more equipment than most people have at home.
