    Sense of Taste

    Kinda what I said...
  2. Pumpkin, potatoes and carrots are all Starch = carbs..... Celery is way to fiberous and peppers? Too soon for a post op diet I would say. If it had just been chicken broth you might have been ok. Even tho you 'strained' the soup, those other ingredients were in there.

    Sense of Taste

Honestly I don't know the scientific reason why. I have a theory that as your body changes to burning fat everything in your digestive system changes also. Including saliva. Hence things taste different. But that is just my theory.

    Need VSG Veteran Input

You know there is a quite nasty stomach flu going around..... my coworker, his wife, my grandchildren and my son all had it. Basically you puke everything for a couple days then it goes away.. just saying it might be....

    Alcohol intake

jersrose43 I'm with you. Tried Chardoney tasted like crap, tasted red tasted worse! Have two open bottles that I suppose I will just have to pour out! Anything very sweet is awful... However a whole glass of V8 with one shot of vodka (think bloody mary) is devine. And it takes a loooonnnngggg time to drink it.

August post op sleevers: Check in

Ruskatie you wrote "I know everyone's body is different and everybody loses weight at different rates but I can't help but look at the ones that are my height and that started at my weight (or within 5 pounds of my high weight) and all seem to be doing SO much better than I am and it frustrates me (I saw one that lost 60 pounds in her first 6 weeks!)." You have lost 41 pounds!!!!! In what? 5-6 weeks! Have you EVER been able to do that? Don't judge yourself by what others have done!!! You are a unique person ( unless you have an identical twin lurking somewhere) LOL! Those first 10-30 pounds after surgery are mostly excess Water and your body burning its glucose reserves. READ READ READ this forum is full of information, not just the "I lost 60 pounds" fluff. But real knowledge about how the weight loss/fat burning process works. Did your body store all that fat in 6 weeks? NO, it took years! And it may take YEARS to get rid of it all. Check out this lady's blog..... http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/p/my-story.html She should be an inspiration to all of us! from a size 28 to a 4!!!! If I may quote her.... "This is a lifelong war versus obesity and having surgery was just one battle... everyday I wake up and fight. “Just cause you got the monkey off your back doesn't mean the circus has left town.” The FIGHT is FOREVER. "

    Dreaded 3 week stall!

After the stall.... down 3 pounds this week! See! It happens. Do not Despair!
  10. I discovered the chocolate Premier shakes at Sam's pre surgery! They have saved my LIFE! The only shake I can get down now... And if they still seem too thick cut them with skim milk. Chocolate milk! Best I have found!

    Nuts? !

Yes they do.. Yes, they do. I have an entire notebook. But it doesn't specifically address nuts. So was just curious what other's had experienced. Thanks.
  13. I will be 6 weeks post surgery on Friday. When can I eat nuts again? Meaning Almonds. Does anyone have any feedback or experience eating nuts? I basically don't have any food issues ie frothing, dumping or anything. Just curious. thanks

    Coffee?

I have drank coffee from day 1 after surgery... not in the massive quantites I used too! Just one or 2 cups a day. Your new stomach will tell you if it likes it or not.

August post op sleevers: Check in

OMG what a great thread! Everyone here has a story and different experiences yet we all started on this journey at almost the same time... I was sleeved Aug 8th, lost 18 pounds right away then stalled.... 2 weeks of agony, then bam 4 pounds gone... The miracle is my clothes fit now... I had kept lots and lots of clothing just one size smaller than what I could squeeze into, now they all FIT! But soon I will be swimming in those! Stomach is very weird... can eat very little at a time and the shakes now make me gag. I totally skipped the pureed food stage and went to eating what Protein I could stand. No frothing, vomiting or dumping no matter what I eat... Fish, beef, chicken it all goes down in tiny amounts. Yes I have had the BM problem, the peeing problem, the can't drink enough Water problem, and can't get enough protein in problem.... but I am not worried. This is WORKING, where nothing else has! Down 35 pounds from my starting pre surgery weight and I am happy! No, I dont like the tight full feeling, and I am nevery hungry, it's a chore to eat. I love to gulp water or any beverage for that matter, and now I can't. But this is working, it's the choice I MADE to change my life! I am 60 years old and was not looking forward to spending my remaining years, fat and crippled. I could barely walk, the pain in my back, knees and ankle was terrible. Most of the pain is gone now, I have only taken pain meds once since a week after surgery, and this from a person who took 2 Aleve EVERY MORNING and then 2 Ibuprophen (motrin) every afternoon! Be positive and empowered! You can all do this!

    Dreaded 3 week stall!

Well I just updated my ticker!!! I am just 3 pounds short of being 1/3 of the way to my GOAL! Just 5 1/2 weeks out from surgery! So I have learned my lesson don't sweat the stalls, they too shall pass.

    Always eating

Whew! and I thought I was eating weird... It takes me so long to finish a shake that it is time to eat again when I finish... Snacks are 1 string cheese, and dinner is a tiny portion of meat and maybe a vegetable, a V8 or some unsweetened applesauce. My Water jug is my constant companion and I have a hard time getting enough down every day. I am on week 4 and at the dreaded 3 week stall but my clothing is getting looser so not too worried.

    Dreaded 3 week stall!

I too am at a 3 week stall... dropped 18 pounds post surgery and now the scale hasn't moved for a week! I know it will, it's just frustrating.
  19. the website says this.. Lane Bryant makes it easy to return or exchange your order. You can send back your purchase via mail for a quick refund or save on postage by returning your order to any of our stores I don't know anything about the 90 day part. I haven't taken anything back! I love Cacique undergarments!
  20. Well I would say he has "THE Walmart mentality"........ Besides is it really any of his business what underwear you wear? Guess I am kind of an independent B***H! But if my DH told me where to shop or how much to spend on clothing not only would I ignore his advice but he would get an EARFUL! I don't tell him where to buy his tighty whities!
  21. Lane Bryant is ONLINE! You can get the good sales onlne also! And they can have a better selection than the store!
  22. I can only advise to "WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH"..... there are phone apps like My Fitness Pal that will help... I think you might be surprised at how many calories you are taking in..... I know I was.
  23. Hey this is a great idea! Let's start a BRA exchange!
