So how was the meeting??? How many people were there? What is all discussed in the meeting? Was it worth going to? Was there any medical staff/doctors there? How long was it? I am really haoping to make it next month, especially since its right before xmas!! I am really gona need the support and tips to make it through that junk food holiday!!! Way to much food served at my family's house on xmas and new years!!
  2. hello everyone in the room, how are you all doing today??? I don't live in Phoenix, lol actually i live the whole way across the country (right outside washington, dc) Anyways, i would love to be a weight loss buddy with anyone who wants to chat. I really wish i would have done what you are all doing, and thats finding a weight loss buddy before u have surgery. I have a bunch of weight loss surgery buddies i have met off here and obesityhelp.com forums and it has made life so much better and easier. The only regret was i didn't find them until a few weeks after surgery. I can't tell you how much it helps to be able to talk with someone who has or is going through what you are going through. Its so nice to get advice on recipes, or exercise tips, or to just rant and rave on anything and everything. So if any of you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask! I will give you some tips i wish people woulda told me. 1. Start practicing eating smaller portioned meals (low carb and high protein) NOW! And also make sure your drinking a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of water a day! It makes it so much easier after surgery if your already used to doing these things. 2. Also most people have surgery and expect to see results within a week after surgery, you didn't put that weight on in a week, so it isn't going to come off in a week! Remember your gonna be healing for a few weeks after surgery so don't have high expectations to lose a bunch of weight right away, some people do, some people don't it all depends on the person. But if you take it 1 day at a time and work your new tool (Bypass) and work the program, trust me, THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF! I cant express how much you are gonna be amazed on how better you feel, how much more energy you'll have. It will be the best decision you ever made, i would bet my life on that! And i saw you guys are worrying about the skin issues. Yes your gonna probably have some loose skin, thats a good thing though, means your losing the weight. Most time its not as bad as it seems. Its just were all self concious so it looks worse than it is to ourselves. But hey it can always be corrected either through hard work at the gym or sometimes the gym just ins't enough and you can have plastic surgery. And alot of times i am finding out is if its bad enough and causing health issues, your insurance will cover it (that is if it covers weight loss surgery, i have typically seen they cover this type of surgery as long as your doctor documents that its causing health issues). I actually have a friend on a different forum who got approved to have some type of plastic surgery done for excess skin because his doctor said he was getting rashes from the overlap of skin. But anyways, dont focus on that right now, focus on getting healthy and shedding that weight! You'll make it and do great. So if any of you care to chat, hit me up. My name is Andy by the way

hello beni, i saw your post. Congrats on having the surgery. I also had my surgery done at fair oaks, back in may. I had RNY done with dr. amoir moazzaz from blue point surgical group. I have heard of dr. fitzer. I have only heard good things bout him, so i am sure your in good hands. let us know how your surgery goes and how your doing. By the way, what type of surgery are u having? I believe you said bypass but wasnt 100% sure. I will give you some advice, be patient after surgery. Alot of people think the weight is just gonna fall off in a week. Remember the first few weeks you are healing, and your gonna feel tired and sore, thats perfectly normal from surgery and pain meds. Most people even feel a little depressed and regret having surgery for a week or two. TRUST ME< IT PASSES!!!! in a few weeks when you are back to feeling normal and you got your bypass working for you and your working you tool/program, you will thank god you had the surgery. Its amazing on how good you feel when you begin to actually get healthy. So just stick in there those first few weeks, dont get down on yourself and just take it day by day. Just remember to siup, sip, sip, and sip some more water! And another tip is as soon as your in your room and ready, start walking! It helps so much with passing gas and taking the gas pressure off your incisions. It also helps you heal quicker. You are in great hands at Fair Oaks, they have great nurses and doctors. Also i saw the other lady post that she shared a room, when i was there i asked if i could have a seperate room, and they did everything they could to get me in my own room and they did, it was very nice having my own room. Sometiems its not possible, but it doesnt hurt to ask. Also one other tip, if you have a robe, take it. Its alot more comfy than those gowns, especially since you'll be walking the halls alot! lol sorry for all those tips, just trying to help you out the best i can. Please let us know how your doing. One last thing, I realized since having surgery, one thing that has made it alot easier is making friends off here and obesityhelp.com forums. I have met a few local people off here and its been great. We meet up sometimes to grab a drink ( lol usually water and some soup, haha) but it makes it su much better/easier to be able to talk with someone who is going through what you are going through, or has been through it already. They cvan help with recipe ideas, tips and pointers on all kinds of things. So if you can meet some good people off here or any other bariatric forum, it really helps

    light headed

same thing here as well....I had RNY done on 5/20/14 and 2-3 weeks after surgery i was getting light headed all the time, i would just be walking or doing normal activities and i would get really light headed. I told the doctor this, so he checked my blood pressure and my blood pressure was 90/50. He said thats your problem, you don't need to take your blood pressure meds anymore. So definantly check with your doctor because for me, within a month i was off ALL my blood pressure and diabetes medications!(Don't just stop taking your meds, talk with your doctor first)

Hey Jenn, lol i was just as shocked as you are that i lost 100 pounds in 3 months...Lol the nurse practioner at Dr. Moazzez's office was shocked as well, she actually told me that she thinks i have lost the most weight in 3 months that she has evert seen there. I was worried maybe i wasnt getting enough protein and losing muscle mass or something was wrong and thats why i lost so much. But i get atleast 90 grams of protein a day and all my lab works came back and they were all great. So everything is going perfect. All i do is make sure i get all my protein and Water in each day. And i try to keep everything under 600 calories a day and i usually walk on average about 9 miles a day. Out of those 9 miles, usually 3-4 of them is walking fast (exercising) and the rest is my normal day of just walking ( i have a physical job where i am always moving). Plus about a month ago i started doing those 10 minute work out videos that you do 3x's a day for 10 minutes each time and that has seem to help alot...The nurse told me i am going to hit a plateau soon probably, so i havent looked at the scales in almost 2 weeks now, so i might be down even more, i hope :-) So thats all you have to do for surgery to be successful is to just listen to the doctors!!!!!! Exercise and make healthy choices and trust me, that weight will come right of!!! Have you attended any of the Blue Point Meetins at Fair Oaks (Every 3rd Monday of the month) I have been busy every time there has been one, but i really want to attend one, i was curious if you had been to one because i am curious if its worth going to? And good for you with the shakes and protein bars...Keep it up, it makes it so much easier to get ready before surgery. It makes it alot easier if you already started your new habits before your surgery so it isnt a shock once you get there. I know its easier said than done! But take it one day at a time and keep focused on your goal and you'll make it! You just got to have strength, faith, focus, and determination!. Just think as it as starting a whole new you!! So are you from the fairfax area? how old are you? (i know you arent supposed to ask a lady that), but i was just curious. Also tell me a little bout you. Do you have a family (husband and kids)? What do you like to do for fun/ercise? Are you a sports fan? (STEELERS fan here). go to go for now, write me back when u get a chance. -----Andy-----

  7. Hello everyone, my name is andy and i live in fairfax, Va. I grew up right outside of williamsport, pa ( a little town called jersey shore) anyways, i moved here 5 years ago and i recently had gastric bypass (3 months ago). And my family and i are moving back to the williamsport area and Danville is the closest Bariatric center. i was curious to see how they were, because i am going to have to do my follow up care there. I am sad becaz the bariatric center here is AMAZING! it is literally top notch! So i'm hoping its atleast decent there at Danville, because there is so much involved with follow up care with bypass with all the vitamins and blood work you need checked all the time...hope someone can help me.........Andy

Hello everyone, kind of a newbie to this site. i been using obesity help forums, but didnt really see anyone local and i get on this site and i see tons of local people, even people who had the same surgeon as me ( Amir Moazzez) or the same hospital as me (Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Va). I'm looking to chat with local people who are in the same boat as me and can be there for support as well as me give them support! I had a quick question for you all. How is the monthly support group at Fair Oaks (BluePoint Surgical Group)?? I have been wanting to attend but I work 3rd shift and have a 9 month year old so i havent be able to attend one yet. I'm 3 months post op (RNY Gastric Bypass) and i'm down 90lbs (103 lbs since i started my pre op liquid diet) and so far its been easy. But now i'm starting to have some craving here and there. So i want to find some people for support before I end up making a bad decision. I've tried talking to friends, but they all dont have a weight problem so they dont fully understand what i am going through and the one heavy friend i do have hasnt had surgery, so he doesnt quite understand what i'm going through. So i'm looking to meet and chat with people who know what its like to be heavy and what its like after having surgery. So if you care to chat please, please let me know. I would love to talk to anyone! Age, sex, religion, race, makes no difference to me/ Just want to feel like there are people out there like me! Hope to hear from you soon! ------ Andy -----
