  1. Thanks for taking the time to replyguys I really appreciate it! I had an appointment with my nut yesterday and she said the hairy tongue was actually a dry tongue as our tongues are one of the first predictors of dehydration...and yes you guys were right... I was dehydrated. The gritty feeling was actually reflux...foamies.....I was swollen inside so it was harder to get the shakes down..they came right back up and sat in the back of my throat a while..the nut and surgeon wanted me to focus on the shakes because "protein heals"and I counted the shakes toward my liquid intake. I am ten days out today and can now tell when I am too full and I slow down...taking smaller sips...and just letting the swelling go down helped tremendously :).

  2. I had a "sleepy bladder" due to the anesthesia and have had a foley catheter for four days now. I have showered and washed and showered some more but I smell like.... bad!!!! I can't wait to get this thing out of me...two more days...anyone have ANY suggestions as to how to help this odor? Called the doctor and they said as long as I'm not in pain or bleeding or oozing I should be fine...just yuck!!!

  3. Hey RNY buddies!!!!! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! Please tell me...after I drink my shake I get a gritty feeling in the back of my throat...its not sore...it feels like solid pieces of grit... its weird....what gives? Is this normal? This is even if I drink slowly and don't overdo it (I think) Also, when do the dizzies get better? When does the hairy tongue go away? And what is best liquid diet thing to blend unflavored Protein Powder in please? I tried cream of chicken Soup and it tasted horrible! Thanks in advance :)

  5. How much weightnhavevyounlst so far on liquids I feel like i wont loose any weight by the 17th

I am on day 10 and I have lost 9 lbs. You will lose weight on the diet. Everyone loses different amounts though. Depends on starting weight and your metabolism too... The liquid diet is more for reducing and hardening your liver so it is easier to get to your stomach (which lies behind it ) and less easily to be harmed during surgery than for overall weight loss. Try not to worry too much. I did in the beginning and even yesterday too. I thought oh no I only lost 6lbs is this ok...other people are losing 20 or so....but my nutritionist said she doubted I would lose even 20...then today I lost three more lbs down. Weigh same time every day.....and make sure you are getting enough Water or you may get a big headache....good luck to you :)

  6. I am currently on day 9 of my surgeon's required liquid diet. I thought I was doing well with cravings etc lol...then last night I had a dream in which I ordered a huge greasy cheeseburger (usually not my go to food) made with swiss cheese and onions and gooey sauce and as I took my second bite I remembered my diet and yelled "oh NO I am on a liquid diet!" and spit out the second bite....then I was embarassed because I have good manners and well, that wasn't good mannered lol....I forgot I was on a liquid diet until after I had a bite and then I worried that bite would mess up my surgery lol....what a weird dream.....especially because when conscious I mainly crave hoagies or salads ....

  7. I have my pre-op appointment the day before my surgery. It makes me nervous that something is going to go wrong that day and my surgery will have to be pushed back when it's so close. I've been doing all that I am supposed to be doing but there is still that irrational fear that something will go wrong. Do you guys feel like that sometimes too?

I do Amber...I worry that they will find something last minute and say oh well we are sorry but we can't do your surgery. After six months of working towards it surgery day kind of feels like waiting for christmas lol.

  8. I am drinking Ensure Active three times a day, two to three sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, Tomato Soup, low fat cream of chicken Soup, low fat broccoli cheese soup, dannon light and fit vanilla yogurt, sugar free pudding, and occasionally low sodium vegetable broth or chicken broth...the Soups, yogurts, and puddings can only be one of them two to three times a day...also 60-80 oz of Water. I am on a two week preop diet and not allowed solids

  9. This will prob aeound weird but here goes. I am in month two of the six month process to surgery. I have been trying to chew my food to mush consistency and it is gross and I find it hard to do. I never expected this. After years of basically inhaling my food I realize the feel of chewed food grosses me out. I mean like I literally want to throw up. Please help!!! How can I overcome this? I need this surgery so badly!! Are there any others with this problem and were there certain foods that were better chewed to mush than others? If you had this problem how long did it take you to get over it?
