Thanks. The best of luck to you!
  2. Hi everyone, It will be 8 weeks this Tuesday since I had my Roux-en-Y surgery. Today I got on the scale and I weigh less than 300 pounds! I haven't been less than 300 pounds for 10 years I was almost in tears when I saw that number 298! I feel so blessed and lucky to have had the surgery done! I had a very smooth recovery and I am a rule follower so I have never vomited I've never had dumping syndrome and I'm a fiend for exercise now. I'm walking 7 miles a day and going to do my first 5K next weekend. Thanks for all of your support and role modeling that you have given me!! Namaste, Mamie60

    Amazing!

Darby, I walked at my own pace. I don't think I could've jogged it usually took me over 2hrs. I have not had any complications or real problems since surgery. I am doing my first 5K run/walk next week end and I will walk. I'm not at the jogging phase yet.

    My nightmare

Elpa, Please do not let this thread change your mind. Yes think about it, ask your doc to see his/ her stats on complication, have a frank discussion with your doc! Remember these women are in only 1% or less than that! I sailed through , 8 weeks out, loss so far 55 lbs, and walking 6-7 miles per day, swimming. The best thing I've ever done for myself!!!!
  7. Great, I will follow you as a mentor on my journey. I am 8 weeks out down 55 lbs and feeling good. Always good to have a mentor.

What wonderful news!!!! You look great. You are an inspiration to me!
  10. Hi everyone, I am 5 weeks post op RNY. I'm doing well and have lost 45 pounds. I walk 3 miles a day and have begun to do Tai Chi. I am trying to eat a variety of foods high in Protein, however, meat just seems so dry even with low fat gravy. chicken, tuna, fish, ham seem dry and then when I chew and chew they all seem to get dryer. And then they get up under my lip and it's not good. My nutritionist is helpful in that she encourages me but no real solutions. cheese, yogurt, chili etc are ok but I want a bit more variety. I will be going back to work the day after Labor Day and I want to feel comfortable eating my lunch there. Any input is appreciated! Mamie60

    July bypass

I had my RNY on July 8. So 4 weeks out doing great walking anywhere from 3 to 5 miles per day. I've lost a total of 40 pounds Today was my grandson's first birthday and I didn't know if I was looking forward to the party or not. The family brings lots of yummy food. We had a grand buffet. I was worried how I would cope. But I did well just had a little taste of a few things and had my favorite smoked salmon. Made it through didn't feel too full everything went well! Feeling happy and satisfied!

    whine: I want soup!

Itsmekarenlee, don't pay attention to anyone else's programs than your own. Follow your surgeons program. Each surgeon has experience with what they feel works best. I am a rule follower in my general life and I believe that has helped me in the three weeks since my surgery as I have done well. It's about the physical changes but also about changing our habits and psychological changes we must make! Keep calm and carry on.
