*Lexie* got a reaction from kittykat84 in Embrace the Stall
Great post! I have discovered that I have a cycle of losing really well for around 2 weeks and then 2 weeks or so of no weight loss. I have had to remind myself a few times to take a deep breath and just keep doing what I'm doing and not go crazy and try something radical to get the weight loss going again. It all evens out.
And I'd rather have a stall than a gain any day. :-)

I'm just going to put this out there. Surgery to lose "only" 90lbs could be the difference between living another 20 years versus living another 40 years. Is it worth it if you could extend your life by 20 years?

*Lexie* got a reaction from bringingmeback00 in SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
I sure have! I tried a half piece of toast and I think it got stuck because I got pain in my stomach, chest and lower back for like 2 hours. Another time when I tried flatbread (because that might work...) I got the same pain. I stopped eating bread, I don't need to be told twice. Well actually I do.
I'm so glad you asked because I haven't heard anyone say anything about back pain before.

I've only lost 2 pounds since October 6th. I feel exactly the same as you. I log every bite I eat and am usually around 800 calories (sometimes a bit more or less). I did go through my food journals today and I've been short on my Protein a few days but I have a hard time believing that is the issue. I've been exercising regularly too. I feel like I lost faster than this before surgery. Very frustrating.

*Lexie* got a reaction from MrsSugarbabe in I've got something to say and clearly I can't say it "out there".
I think there's a spectrum of compliance after surgery. From those that follow every rule to those that are determined to eat wings and drink beer at one week post op (that would have killed me for sure). I think where the person falls on the spectrum determines what results they will get. This would explain why there are a few out there that don't lose any weight or very little after surgery.
For me, changing a lifetime of bad behaviors has proven to be challenging, particularly eliminating snacking. Every time I fail, I get up, brush myself off and try again. I'll get there and coming here helps motivate me to keep trying. If coming here and reading posts encourages a new person to change a few of their behaviors, then that is a positive thing. Sadly, some people are too deep in denial to change. Those people will say the surgery didn't work for them.

I am sorry that you don't have any support on this journey. I was very lucky to have support and i think it really helped. I even made friends with a few people from my surgeon's office that had surgery around the same time as I did and we still get together every month. It was nice to have people that knew what I was going through to talk to. That might be an option for you. This site can also be very good. I did a lot of reading in the early days and it was motivating.
You can do this and there are plenty of people here willing to offer positive support. :-)

*Lexie* got a reaction from LxA in What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"
    Love this topic!
My pet peeve is my family wanting to go to restaurants that I have no use for anymore. I got a promotion a few months back and my husband wanted to Celebrate by going to Cheesecake Factory. That really wasn't a celebration for me, I would rather have a new outfit. And every dish at that place is huge, there was nothing I could order.
The other thing is choosing between eating and drinking. Sometimes when we go out, I want something tasty to drink like a flavored ice tea. But if I get that, I can't eat and vice versa. For me it's not just about following the rules, I literally get sick if I eat and drink at the same time. (probably for the best)

Who knows, maybe it was a former patient that shared that tweet with him. I would definitely not judge him without meeting him and his staff. For me, I spent a lot more time with the support staff than I did the surgeon so liking them was very important to me.

*Lexie* got a reaction from ProudGrammy in What Gets You Going for Your Workout?
I'm motivated when my exercise has purpose. I sign up for races, 5K's, half marathons, etc. I have a training plan and if I slack, I'm going to suffer on race day. Now I'm far enough in that working out is almost as automatic as brushing my teeth. On days when I don't feel like working out I remind myself that the only bad workout is no workout.
