I will normally have a Protein shake with a banana after walking for 30 to 45 minutes. For some reason protein shakes work better if you do some kind of exercise program before drinking the shake.
  2. My lowest weight since my Band was around December 2009 around 190. Afterwards stop exercising and even though I still ate properly during my meals I went back to heavy duty snacking and the weight started to creep back on. In June 2011 I had a complete unfill due to esophagus dilation and during the next three months gained 25 lbs. I slowly kept gaining weight. On January 1 2013 after reaching 250 I recommitted myself and am losing weight again I am back down to around 210 and have 1.3 cc in a 4 cc band so I really do not tolerate fills very well but I like to focus on the results of benefits of the WLS such as: No more diabetes medicine No more sleep apnea No more pain in my back or knees I actually enjoy walking I can keep up with the grand children I also keep in mind all those terrific NSV's Not having to ask for an extension on an airplane Walking down an aisle of an airplane without apologizing for almost knocking someone out. Getting off the coach on the first try Crossing my legs Getting dressed without sitting down Being able to ride any coaster at an amusement park Not having to worry if the ladder is going to hold me or not Tying my shoes without almost passing out. Taking the golf ball out of the hole without getting on my knees first Leaving food on the plate without feeling guilty It seems when I stay away from this board that I gain weight and find my way back usually, so it is really important to keep a support system around you. Who knows if I will ever reach my goal weight but I am thrilled with the weight that I have been able to keep off. For me the band has worked and though I have had my ups and down it was one of my best decisions I have ever made.

Life does not stop when we have surgery but life can and should be better. My wife and I have kept off almost 200 pounds for the last 7 Years . My wife 90 plus pounds and me 100 plus pound for 7 years it has not been easy but sure has been worth it. Family issues have come and gone, lost my mom a couple years ago, my brother in law was killed in a vehicle crash while my sister was driving, she is fine but dealing with the loss of her husband, their son was next to dad but is coping with the loss as well two other nephews wee also in the car and they were Ok with only bumps and bruises, my dad was also in the car and was transported by helicopter to a hospital but he is doing fine now. Both of my boys had to move in with us at different times, My Oldest moved to a place that he could afford but not a very good neighborhood and his 14 year old daughter was almost raped by a neighbor and their lives were threaten and he moved north to a little town called Willits California and are doing just fine. My youngest son moved in with his family and her mother so it was quite interesting for a while and they have moved out and bought a house and are doing well. Needless to say we have also have had to assist the two boys with financial assistant but that is part of being a parent. This past year my wife and I celebrated our 35 anniversary and one of our celebrations was going parasailing which I would of never though of doing 7 years ago because we would of been over the weight limit. Through it all we have been very satisfied with the band, Some would say we are not successful because we did not reach our goal. Sure I could stand to lose another 40 lbs but I am still enjoying life and have continues to do things that I could not do a few years ago. Some of the benefits that have come as a result of the band is: No more diabetes medicine No more sleep apnea No more pain in my back or knees I actually enjoy walking I can keep up with the grand children My Favorite NSV’s are: Not having to ask for an extension on an airplane Walking down an aisle of an airplane without apologizing for almost knocking someone out. Getting off the coach on the first try Crossing my legs Getting dressed without sitting down Being able to ride any coaster at an amusement park Not having to worry if the ladder is going to hold me or not Tying my shoes without almost passing out. Taking the golf ball out of the hole without getting on my knees first Leaving food on the plate without feeling guilty Not having to worry about going up stairs. Riding any ride at an amusement park that I want without fear of not being let on the ride to being too heavy. Life does have its ups and down and as long as we continue to make more good choices than bad we can continue to succeed in spite of circumstance's that we cannot control.

I have not had long hair for 40 years which is probably a good thing not sure if I would of ever got married. I do enjoy long hair on a young woman (to me any one under 59 is a young woman). My wife has always had short hair during our 35 years of marriage and that is fine with me.

For four years all the grand children lived within 5 miles of my home. This summer for some reason one of my children decided to move 450 miles away and take the 3 grandchildren with him. So needless to say I miss them the remaining grand child is enjoying the extra attention.
  11. write yourself a letter with your hopes and dreams for the future also remind yourself how well you are dong and anything positive no matter how small. The reason you want to write the letter is to remind yourself when you want to give up how well you are doing now. Start keeping a list of NSV's (Non Scale Victories)
  12. Just stay focused on a healthier life style the weight loss is just a terrific benefit.

  14. I have had my band since September 2007 and have yet to reach my goal but am very happy to have lost over 100 lbs. My mom and siblings have always have problems with weight issues. I started gaining weight at the age of 25. Over the next 26 years I went from 150 to 330. I developed diabetes type 2, sleep apnea, sever pains in my back and knees walking was a chore, getting off the coach was and an adventure It seems when I stay away from this board that I gain weight and find my way back My lowest weight since banded was around December 2009 around 190. Afterwards stop exercising and even though I still ate properly during my meals I went back to heavy duty snacking and the weight started to creep back on. In June 2011 I had a complete unfill due to esophagus dilation and during the next three months gained 25 lbs I slowly kept gaining weight. On January 1 2013 after reaching 250 I recommitted myself and am losing weight again Some of the benefits that have come as a result of the band are: No more diabetes medicine No more sleep apnea No more pain in my back or knees I actually enjoy walking I can keep up with the grand children six years and no seat belt extender I do not get the evil eye when I sit next to them on the plane. I really like not having to walk sideways down the aisle of a plane. Do not have to get down on my knees to get the golf ball out of a cup. My wife and I went Parasailing due to the combine weight loss of over 200 lbs we were 150 lbs under the limit and had a great time. I can leave food on a plate and not feel guilty There is no doubt that the way I was heading that I would of been over 400 lbs. For me the band has worked and though I have had my ups and down it was one of my best decisions I have ever made.
  15. Congratulations Alex Had my band for 7 years and any problems with the band have been my fault, but there would of been no way that I would of kept off over a hundred lbs without the band. Sure I could stand to lose 40 more lbs but you just can't beat the quality of life that I now enjoy.
  16. I had mine take out in March 2013 and am doing well without the old gallbladder.
