I totally relate!! I was that way, obsessed with getting an actual surgery date. Getting upset that the surgeons office was taking so long for what I thought were simple things! But I am happy to say I am officially on my way, only 48 hrs and hopefully I will be in recovery!! My surgery is Friday morning, my surgeon only procedures in the AM so hopefully this time Friday I will be thru it all. Its hard to be patient when you just want to get onto the new chapter of your life!!
Now I get to obsess over getting my car fixed as I was a victim of the Michigan floods!! Glad I won't need a car next week!

Had my surgery August 15th by Dr. Kole in Troy MI. I went Friday the 22nd for my follow up and was down 11 lbs. I told him I felt great but need to chew something was given the ok for soft things on day 10 so today I am eating watermelon and having no issues. Last night I had some mashed potatoes and no issues!! Liking this so far! Meet with the dietician at Beaumont this Wednesday to get a game plan on changing my eating habits for good!!!

Congrats!! I am also being sleeved tomorrow but I was less fortunate than you, I had to do a week of liquids, raw veggies, sf Jello, sf popsicles, non flavored applesauce and Protein Drinks. I AM STARVING!!! Best wishes tomorrow, let me know how it goes!

I've done sooo much research and talked to a few I know who had the surgery and am just ready to get this over and get this new chapter started!

Welcome! I am pretty much in the same boat as you, about to turn 39 with a BMI of 50/51. I am also a single mother to a child who wants nothing to do with his father, but he has an awesome relationship with my parents and brother. But I am excited and feel as thou my weight and health will kill me before surgery would! At my consultation my surgeon told me I was a great candidate and probably more healthy than any patient he would see that day. Make sure you have a surgeon you are 100% comfortable with and will answer any and all questions you have. Make sure to do lots of research on this website along with other research online. Ask around, you'd be surprised there may be someone in your circle who already had the surgery and can be your "buddy" thru the whole process. I was extremely surprised to find out 2 people I know had it and I had no clue!
As for the foodie in you, you will till be that same person who loves all kids of foods! After a while you will be able to have just about anything, you just have to learn Portion Control.< /p>

Awe I am so sorry for your daughter. I kinda mentioned it to my 7 year old son and his response was he didn't want me getting my stomach taken out. So different scenario for me. I will definitely keep her in my thoughts. Like someone above said, do you have someone who can bring her to the hospital to see that you are ok after the surgery is over. Even if she can't see you right away to at least be there when the doctor comes out and let the family know it's done. The time the surgery takes will be like forever to her!! To at least knowing she will be there and hear from the surgeon maybe it will be easier on her.

If things go good I will be going in for surgery July 25th. Hoping to hear back for sure tomorrow! Getting so close to this being reality..... so excited to start the my new chapter of life!!
