amazon got a reaction from jahemenway in Count down to Breast Augmentation - woowhoo!
I had my final consult for my breast augmentation yesterday. I think I'm starting to get excited!
I'm all all paid up. It's set for 4/25.
I'll have to get some sharable pictures (before and after)
I do have some issues to address - a second surgery on them may be required. We are just going to do the BA and see if I'm happy. Since I'm planning an extended mini-thigh lift and belt lift this summer, anything else I need done (excess skin removal under the arm, or a slight lift) will be done at no additional cost then.
So the deets... estimating 350cc (but will have 300-400 on hand). Like most woman, both sides are not created equal, so one side could be 325, and the other 350. She knows what I'm going for, and at this point I have a lot of trust in my surgeon. We've poured over lots of pics together, more than once, and she knows what I want.
I'm going with under the muscle, silicone (Mentor Memory Gel), moderate round. She said I may need, or be better off with, the high profile. She'll order both. We talked a lot about the differences and why she thought I might need the high profile. We'll talk again the day of surgery - I think I may let it be her call when she's in there.
Man....I have to go get some sports bras this weekend....anyone have any suggestions? I'm guessing I'd want ones that open in front to make life easier!

Front opening bra for sure and I would recommend purchasing two. I wore mine 24-7 for the first 4-6 weeks and it's easier to wash one when you have another one on hand. I was sent home in a horrible surgical bra, so that did not help. If they give you a decent one, you can rotate that with your sports bra. One thing to keep in mind (my surgeon did not tell me this), is that there may not be room for the size you want once they get into surgery. I requested a minimum of 400 on my larger side and then whatever it took for the smaller side to look equal and he agreed. I woke up with 260 and 340, HUGE disappointment, but I came to grips with the fact that he did what was medically safe! I am scheduled to have a revision (larger implant on one side and making the aerola smaller on the other) June 29th. Best of luck to you!

amazon got a reaction from Christinamo7 in Type 2 Diabetes Blood Sugar/ Hypothyroid
I was able to come off my diabetes meds immediately after surgery (metformin). My thyroid med actually had to be increased, which seemed odd to me. Then when I got close to goal, it stabilized and had to be lowered to what was in tune with my weight. I guess what crap was in my fat stores was making a difference. It finally leveled out after about 16 months.
I did have many stalls. I was a "step" loser. Lose for a week or so, then stall for 2 or 3 weeks. Would be frustrating - just had to trust the program.

Went out for a nice dinner with hubby last night. He insisted on taking a pic when we got home, lol.
Ok, silly question - I've reached my surgeons goal - I'm now getting the "too skinny" comments. Yes? No?
I tend to think it's because folks remember me as a size 24...

Been "one of those days" for close to 2 weeks now ... just can't seem to shake this funk that is pulling me down. The hubs & I have been a bit off lately and nit picking at each other. The daughter has hit the "I'm 18 and want to do nothing" stage, making me understand why some animals eat their young. Work is getting more stressful than usual with the other half of me out for medical procedure (not WLS or related) and now having to extend her leave. I haven't been able to get my usual walking in due to an over full schedule. Annnddd to top it all off I seem to have hit another stall. What I really want to do is lock myself in my room and have a good cry and a full on pity party, but I just can't justify the damned time!!!
Tomorrow things will start to get better, right?!?!? Someone just lie to me and tell me it will.

amazon got a reaction from lifeofblair in Maintenance Phase
It's not about what your friends say. It's how you feel. They're not used to seeing you at a normal weight.
As far as maintenance goes, just keep doing what you're doing. That's all it is. Nothing changes.
As James said above, your body will choose where it wants to be and sort of equalize.
For me, if I eat more, my weight goes up. I bounce a few pounds. And that's ok. I typically have 1100 cal a day. That keeps me stable. If it creeps up, I gain. To drop it, I cut back to about 800 and it comes off in a week. Pretty simple. No panicking. :-)
When I first hit maint I was panicking. Then my Nut told me it's business as usual. Don't worry about it. Just keep following the food plan and all will be ok. She was right. The stress disappeared. I had it figured out all ready.
    Congrats on your success !!

    hang in there!
The truth is, you are reducing portion sizes, drinking more Water, and eating healthier, and all of that goes into your weight loss!
no need for shame, and no need for anyone you don't want to to know the decision you made to change your life.

Oh yea..I lie all the time now...well, when it comes to my weight
    Are you losing weight?
Me: No, my clothes shrunk in the dryer, its tighter so makes me look thinner (lie)
How are you losing so much weight?
Me: Oh god, I live in the gym. I exercise 7 days a week, glad its paying off (lie)
    Thats all you eat?
Me: Yea, not that hungry, Water filled me up (lie)
You drink a lot of water!
Me: Oh I love water! (Biggest b.s lie)
Lies, lies, lies...but really I'd rather lie than to tell my business and be criticized and hear negative comments people have to say about having wls.

Mine are over the muscle - which is not considered good by all plastic surgeons. i dont have any visible scarring as they were able to do this just via the nipple. I know that mine look and feel much more natural than some women have.
My advice is to make sure your surgeon's "asthetics" align with yours. also, be sue that you get multiple consults... that guided me alot in determining size etc.
I was told the same thing that many hear - that people regret going to small. I had plans to go much bigger than I did until a woman PS asked me how I would feel about needing to wear a large top considering that my butt is like a size 2/4/6 range. She made a compelling case once I looked at it from an overall "look" perspective. My lover at the time tried to talk me out of doing it at all. He said something that influenced me too... I was on my way to a vacation in NYC - and he told me to notice all the 60 year old women with huge implants and with age and weight gain, perhaps look way heavier due to the implants. I did notice it, and recognized with my body type,i could someday look like that - which i didn't care for.
Even though my implants are small, I am considered big breasted in my circle of friends and get more attention about it than I would actually prefer. I am one of those who does NOT regret keeping the implants a modest size. Just another voice to the conversation - it is a very personal decision.

Haha, I'm in the same boat. I was a double D, now I'm down to a C. I'm 31, and these puppies are looking about 84. They look great in a bra, but I have no idea how to even go about attempting to date anyone. How do I put in a dating profile "appears in good condition, but when you check under the hood..."
    My cleavage is false advertising!

@@JamieLogical Thanks - it sounds like we have very similar concerns. Sorry you're going through it again. But I'm sure you'll be happy when it's all done. :-)
I was told moving my nipples was an option. Not really a lift, just move them to where they should be (they are a little low, below center line). I don't know if I want to do that. That may wait until I see if I'm happy with where things end up (or down!). This is why I'm choosing things in this order also.
I also have a lot of extra under arm skin. She was very conservative with it with the arm lift knowing I was pursuing the implants. Putting volume back will take up some of this. Since there will be a surgery after the implants, she will most likely wait until then to finish removing that final excess skin.
I better be done after surgery #3! I know my bank account will be....
