I stopped my metformin (1000mg 2x day) the day of surgery (vsg) almost two years ago now. My A1C was managed in the low 7's until that point. Had been diabetic for about 12 years.
I've been in remission since. Hope to stay that way :-)

amazon reacted to Alex Brecher in Please Read: Keep BariatricPal a Safe Place
I started the BariatricPal forums to create a safe place for everyone in the weight loss surgery community. It is for pre-op and post-op patients, for patients of all types of WLS, and for anyone who supports the WLS community. I want you to be able to come here for advice, encouragement, support, and information without worrying about being judged.
I have a zero-tolerance policy for rudeness, and you can see the guidelines in the Forum Rules.
Recently, there have been several instances of members being disrespectful or downright rude. Examples include:
Stating or implying that a poster is doomed to failure or not ready for WLS because he or she asked a certain question or is engaged in a certain behavior. Telling people that your way is the only way, and any other way means the member deserves WLS failure. Discriminating against “newbies,” such as letting a newbie know that you don’t think he or she will succeed, or asking only “vets” to reply to a certain thread. (Reminder: you can always choose not to follow the advice of someone you deem unqualified to give it). The vast majority of BariatricPal members do a phenomenal job making BariatricPal the warm, friendly community that I dreamed of when I started it. Thank you! Besides being sure to be polite and respectful, here are some additional ways to help.
If you see an offensive post, please consider the following.
You do not need to respond. Instead of giving a rude answer and escalating the situation, you can simply choose not to answer. You can report the post by clicking on the “Report” option under the post. A forum moderator will look into the situation and may delete the post or ban the member if the member continues to post inappropriately. You can send the member a private message explaining that you felt the post was inappropriate, and explaining why. In many cases, you may be surprised that the member did not even realize he or she was being rude. Please also think twice before you respond to any questions or other posts. It is possible that you could write a post that is genuinely meant to be helpful, but the person could accidentally interpret your post the wrong way. Try to remember that:
It is very difficult to communicate a specific tone in writing. You may write something that you think is helpful and understanding, while someone reading it might take it as bossy or judgmental. Emoticons such as smiley faces can help. You can also add a sentence to explain that you are only offering a suggestion or sharing your own experience and that you are not trying to judge the OP. The OP might be in a vulnerable situation. They may be panicking about a worrisome symptom. They may be in turmoil about whether to get WLS. They may be freaking out about a stall. When they’re upset, it’s easier for them to misinterpret your well-meaning post. Thank you for doing your best to keep the environment at BariatricPal positive, encouraging, and open. We all need a place to go for help and support, and I want the entire weight loss surgery to feel comfortable using BariatricPal for advice and encouragement.

25 days ago on July 7th on morning of surgery i weighed in at 428.8 pounds. As of this morning i am 399.8 (After I Ate Breakfast). Everyone consider 50 or 100 pounds a big milestone for them..... but although i only lost 29 pounds this is huge for me, mentally that is. Mentally because me being over 400 pounds was the deciding factor of me getting the surgery. For the past 3 years i was up and down between 400-430 and got as high as 454 and got as low as 409 before but always gained it back. At the time i entered the 400s i was only 18 (Way Too Young) so a decision had to be made to save my life and better my life and so far its the best decision i made. Although we all have more restraint with the way our stomachs are changed, we still have to have that same discipline. Still have to have to have the same discipline to get up and move everyday and go work out and have the discipline to not eat this and eat that instead. We still have to do the same stuff that people who didn't have the surgery have to do. So if a so called friend-family member every tell you that you took the easy way out or you are too lazy to lose it on your own just ignore them, or do what i did and cut them off, on this journey you don't need that negative energy around you, you need positive vibes and people that will motivate you.

I am 8 months post op and 19 pounds away from goal and a "normal" BMI.
I've been very excited lately with my changes and have been coming out socially more then ever. My life since the sleeve has been work, gym, walk and home. I would host dinner parties occasionally but only for close family and friends. I have recently been accepting invites to parties and outings because the shame is gone. I now can hold my head up and feel comfortable where ever I go. It really feels good to feel normal

A few sips is only a handful of calories and liquid goes through a sleeve pretty fast. Just keep sipping that Protein drink. My goal was 3 a day, but I could usually only get in two. This hungry stuff will most likely stop when you hit soft foods and can get your Protein in via "real" food.

Make sure you are taking your PPI, too. Too much tummy acid mimics the feeling of hunger.

Had my post op appt yesterday (3 days post op) and two drains were removed (back drains). Didn't feel a thing!
There is almost no swelling and no bruising at all. My dr. is quite impressed with how mobile I am. I'm pretty surprised how good I feel.
Even though output wise the leg drains could be pulled, we are going to wait until my next appt on Tuesday. She feels that drainage could increase as I become more active. So far it's not the case, but will see. It will be nice to be free of drains. But the best part is no drains = shower!!
I'm out of the "girdle" pictured above and in 3/4 length running leggings. They are providing good compression. I have gauze pads over my back and side incisions. I am also in a surgical bra. That's going to change to a front opening sports bra as soon as. It arrives
The compression garments are required for a minimum of six weeks.
I'll try and get some pics.

Hopefully folks don't think this is TMI or gross ...but this is my view of my thighs this morning...

I'll get pics of the others areas once I'm "up" a bit more. It will probably be more meaningful if they're unwrapped, too. But you can at least see how you start off.

Start of day one post op. Everything went well. Have gotten up twice to walk (yah, not so easy!)
They did keep me overnight. It was an option and I was ok with it. Considering how I feel, I'm glad I did.
I won't have pics to post until I get "unwrapped". But I have leg binders that also act like a girdle (for the back sutures I presume). I have a chest binder for my under arms. (No drains there for some reason) I have four instead of the six expected. I'm so wrapped up I feel like a mummy! Lol
They took me into the OR at 7:30 and I was out at 1:30. Five hours. Good nap :-)
Overall the pain isn't awful. Getting up is not fun. The pressure on my thighs when turning to sit on the edge of the bed is the worse part.
Here's a pic of the problem area I had under my arms and why I was so happy to get it removed.

The count down as begun! The OR is booked, my final surgical consult is on Tuesday and I hand over my money. (I'm SO broke, but it's been worth it)
I've healed well from my breast augmentation that was on 4/25. It looks like there may be one more procedure in my future, but that won't be until the winter. The girls may still need a nipple lift - but waiting to see. That will be NC.
Any how...The belt lift will essentially complete a 360 lift. I understand the thigh lift recovery is the tough one. My husband has taken the week off to help me out. I'll be off work for two weeks. I'm really looking forward to it overall - just like with the panilectomy...having that loose/hanging skin gone will be awesome. Just have to get past the recovery.
One thing I have learned is that my skin did not survive obesity well. The elasticity is SHOT. I will NOT be running around in a bikini when I'm done, lol. But I'm much better off and it's still worth it.
I'll post updates/pics as I go. I always appreciate folks that do that :-)

So as a wing lover myself, I'm learning to clarify if they are breaded or not. Breaded? They are coming back up. Not breaded? I can eat 4 or 5. I also learned to eat the (giggle) two boners because the meat is thinner, they take longer to eat and I get less gristle. Hooters naked wings are a favorite!
I've never had a cheese curd. I assume that's something fried if it's at BW3?
And absolutely no fries. Two fries = one wing. Not worth the space.

It was a beautiful (albeit hot) day today and after I got my 6 miles in for the day, I decided to take my daughters up to a local wing festival. Needless to say the place was so incredibly packed that I did not stay! We ended up just going to BW3's. I haven't been to one of these places for a long time. I didn't order anything except an unsweetened ice tea. My girls however had the fried cheese curds and some hot boneless wings.
The food actually smelled really good, and I figured since I had over 25 miles on the elliptical this week that it wouldn't be too bad if I tried some of it. I had a few curds and 6 small chicken chunks. By the time we left the restaurant, I was full on nauseous. I mean serious drool and green pallor and everything. It wasn't dumping, I know that one. This was just food that doesn't like me. I looked up the nutrition on the BW3's website and I had well over 600 calories in that totally unsatisfying meal.
I remember my record. I once ate 42 wings. I literally am disgusted at that thought and I swear, I am never going to eat that crap again. This is one of the few instances where you can never go home and thank goodness for that!
So whats my rant? My rant is that I was stupid enough to eat something I know is not a part of my plan and all week long we have been talking about eating poorly. However I will say straight out that at a year and half out I am not in danger. So if any newbie sees this, take heart. Even us veterans can be stupid.

I had to work from home today because i had a facial "pick me up" done yesterday and my face is not lookin purdy. I was all set to knock out all kinds of work from home since no one would be stopping by and bothering me like they do at the office (I literally have 40 stop bys a day where people ask stupid questions and I can never get MY work done). I had a 6:30 - 7:30am teleconference, did a little work, had a 9:30 - 10:30am teleconference, and have been reading bariatric pal posts ever since... sigh.. I guess another weekend of working is in order for tomorrow - It is almost 3:30pm where i live - so that is too late in the day to start doing actual working. So i think i will read and post till 5pm and then call it a day
This is what my face feels like and I hope I look that young when its all back to normal:
